It's Friday afternoon, and Miss Collins has about ten minutes left before the bell rings. With nothing else planned, she decides to give the class a little challenge.

"Right, everyone! I want you all to write me a short poem. But there's one rule: your poem must finish with the words 'If I can, if I can, if I can.'"

The class gets to work, and about five minutes later, little Mary's hand shoots up.

"Yes, Mary," says Miss Collins. "Let's hear your poem."
Mary stands up and proudly recites:

"When I grow up to be a lady,
I'd really love to have a little baby,
If I can, if I can, if I can!"

"Beautiful, Mary!" says Miss Collins. "Very sweet indeed!"

A moment later, little Benny puts up his hand.
"Yes, Benny. What have you come up with?"
Benny stands up and announces:

"When I grow up to be a man,
I'll visit Germany and Japan,
If I can, if I can, if I can!"

"Excellent, Benny!" says Miss Collins. "Very adventurous! Well done!"

Just then, from the back of the classroom, little Johnny's hand shoots up like a rocket.
"MISS! MISS! I'VE GOT ONE!"
Miss Collins hesitates.
"Oh, alright, Johnny," she sighs. "Let's hear it."
Johnny jumps to his feet, puffs out his chest, and proudly announces:

"When I grow up to be a man,
Stuff Germany and Japan!
I'm gonna help Mary with her plan!
If I can, if I can, if I can!" 😉
