THIS IS THE EXPLANATION I JUST RECEIVED FROM WT HQ

You mean Ayshford is NOT leaving? that's probably the most disappointing news out of the lot.

Not for me! He had a bad year, but he is talented and needs to be kept at the club, if we released him it would come back to haunt us.

I think it's 2 bad years, or one ordinary (2011), and one bad (2012). IMO he is just a first grader. I don't see him being rep quality and probably never will be, just a player who can run the odd line for a try and the ability to stand up in most tackles.

Compare him to other centers in the game and he is well down the order. He's one given the chance and needs to be replaced with someone with speed, footwork, get outside his opposition center and produce a great pass to his winger. None of these qualities Ayshford has. I was a fan, but these positions need to be filled with strike power.

Thats not what people were saying as late as March. Apparently NSW were going to have an all-Tiger centre pairing (yes people actually said this), now 6 months later its ''see you later Blake, don't let the door hit ya''. Talk about short memories

I think the point is different people were saying that - while many of us wernt as impressed even then. He had a good year last year but he still has never been able to set up a winger. I think he is a solid FG but not the strike centre we need and his defence was a rabble this year. He can make a break in traffic with his fend and gangly style but that can only get you so far. Even if he stays how many of us would still prefer someone else at centre if we had the chance to pick up a new centre. However if he is staying I hope he gets back to his 2011 form

The thing is you can't fill every position with a rep player. Blake had a decent last half of 2010 and a terrific 2011\. I know 2012 was ordinary but so was basically our entire side barring a few standouts.

I think Blake has a lot of potential, and a rep jersey isn't completely out of the question over the next 5 years. But even if he doesn't he would still be a valuable member of the side.

For those who are giving it to Beau Ryan about his one year of good form and thats it, think of this.

It takes more than a player who can just play football and that's it. Ryan might not be the best footballer, and is probably a fringe first grader at best. His form this year and cementing a first grade start is partly due to the fact that we had so many outside back injuries.

But its the media exposure and the advertising by way of his footy show and popularity that make us attractive to new supporters, sponsors and advertisers. That stuff is worth its weight in gold. You have to balance that with his skill level. How many new supporters, kids, potential members, sponsors and advertisers did the club get as a direct result?

Replace him with a better player, just for example - Brett Morris. You pay twice as much and you get nothing in return for the advertising and marketing. You get a better player and a possibility of more wins and a better ladder position, but I'm not sure that equates to the same thing money-wise.?

Not saying I agree one way or another, but this is business and its more than just footy.

thanks for the info but i would like to know who it is you spoke with also wasnt just a customer service person that like a chat was it?

If this is true and Ryan had a sook because Heighington wasn't offered a new contract then I am glad he's leaving.

Any more sooks are welcome to follow.

Yeh Id like to know who you spoke to….was it Clem the cleaner?
Mightve been the bloke filling the spring water things

Whoever it was, he should be moved up the food chain … Sounds like a straight shooter. And he can work the switchboard thingy too.

If he is to be believed then I'm wrapped Ayshford is hanging around. The kid has a big future and I'd rather cop one bad season than have to watch him staring for the next 5 in a foreign jersey.

You have to consider if we had j Morris then potentially we would have won a tight match that we may have lost, this would have put us in the 8
This would mean we receive sponsorship bonuses for making the 8
We attract media attention as a competitive title contender
And attract players as we are title contenders
Also merchandise sales increase as do ticket sales from finals games

If we make it the whole way we get bonuses as a side for winning
Also leads to more corporate sponsorship as businesses like to align themselves with success

Just phoned WT Headquarters to ask when information would be released to the fans about exactly what the hell is going on and hit them up about some questionable decisions that have been made and asked for an explanation.

I asked if Sheens was leaving and mentioned the forum and the general thought was we needed a new coach. He was unsure about that situation, and said it was still being worked out. And he wasn't completely in the know for that information.

He told me the Ayshford rumour is false, and that he heard it straight from Blake. Made up
by the telegraph.

He said Heighno wanted a three year contract, but the club wouldn't grant it due to junior talent coming through.

He stated Beau left at his own accord because he was following a mate and didn't like the way Heighno was treated. He was shattered.

I asked if they were being replaced by new signings to which he couldn't comment.

I asked why Beau and Heighno who give their all were released before numbnuts like Moltzen/Blair etc. I was told I would have to take that up with recruitment.

I also stated that the fans and members should be given more of an insight, to which he replied "there will be once a few more issues are sorted out"

Hope some of this may clear up some rumours a little. Some of this info may have just been a load of rubbish but this is what I was told.

Is that the same guy that comes and refills the 'Lion Mints' box on the counter. It is at my workplace.

Certainly sounds like our club anyway. No information, Not sure of the source, No direction….Yes, it was definitely Wests Tigers.

Sorry for the late reply had a killer day at work started at 5 and just knocked off.

Ok a few are asking who it was I spoke to? I couldn't remember his name to save my life, but he was apparently an operations manager of some sort. Could have been the cleaner for all I know haha. Like I said in my original post, could have all been a lot of rubbish. But I've been quite frustrated as many of us have and thought I'd have a crack, and i was pretty demanding with some questions and really put it on him to give me something. Several questions you could tell he ummed and arred about and clearly didn't want to answer or just had no clue. And was told at times i would have to contact different departments for some things I asked. I was also pretty surprised at what he actually did tell me to be honest, but most of it made a fair bit of sense.

He noted they had been getting a lot of angry calls from fans and members the last few days, so there's a chance they've been told to say certain things I suppose.

But hey, I thought it might shed a bit of light on what's going on and thought I'd share it with everyone here. So don't shoot the messenger for having a go. And hopefully we all know more soon.

I am a bit shocked that the bloke anwsering the phones is a) given that much info and b) allowed to tell a member of the public - this is seems the most amatur part of it all to me

The club should only be making offical statements and not leaking like a civ as it seems to be

Dissapointing about Ayshford - was hoping we would sign a new centre

So you'll stick the boot into people choosing not renew memberships and show loyalty to the club, yet you want the club to be disloyal to a player and punt him for one bad season when he has a season or two left to run on his contract?

:unamused:

What a lot of rubbish I've been reeding for the last three pages…....NRL clubs are millios of dollars businesses, and do all of you honestly believe that some "bloke" on the phone from "HQ" is going to spill his guts to "another bloke" on the phone......c'mon wake up from dreamland.
I also read somewhere that some of these players were being offloaded because of the "salary cap" Well, unless farah and marshall are getting $4mil between them that is the biggest joke of the day....because no one else is worth paying, and now they have even "bought" a new bunch of "hasbeens" for next year. Everyone talks about getting rid of sheens......maybe they should "shoot' their so called recruitment officer and have him charged for recieving wages under false pretences. Have a look at the EX tiger players now playing for other clubs and HE recruits pettybourne, Anasta and whoelse ?
We will NOT get anywhere near another premiership unless they buy some "decent players"
