a level headed assessment, so my only question is does he have the acceleration/long distance speed to play on the wing long term.

Tbh he looks like he’s trimmed down from last year but I haven’t seen him with any space this year. Like I said we aren’t using our edges really well, we also seem very flat and not coming onto the ball. I think at wing we will see if he’s gotten quicker, he did have hammy problems last year with all the size he put on. With Talau he’s a great tackle breaker and ever better finisher. He played mostly at wing last year and was 4th highest in meters.

I was hoping for instant success this year, still think we are a chance for the top8.

Clubs like us cannot afford to do that. "Glamour' clubs; however, with players wanting to play for them can be more straightforward - look at Flanagan- doesn't work out - Roosters, you're out the door. Same for Matterson, AJ and others like Pearce. I just hope one day we become more attractive - atm the moment we're like mutton dressed as lamb.

It’s different. They told Mansour he won’t get a game with them as they already had players contracted better than him.

Talau was a trade topic. If he doesn’t want to leave (family/lifestyle), he wouldn’t. We still have Hoffman and how is that going? He isn’t exactly setting reggies on fire. Kepoa played 4 games and most wanted him gone because he isn’t up to grade yet & is now in reggies.

Seriously no club would do that in this day and age..... and what happens if he still says no play him reggies just to make a point..... its dumb to do especially for a club that’s struggling. It’s simple if Talau didn’t want to go he couldn’t have been forced to go.

it would have been 2021 as Melbourne were not asking about talau until the very end of 2020 season over we could have blooded Hoffman etc if Tommy talau kicked stones if he had said no and we had Roberts and Laurie and Kepoa so we would have had some replacements if he had dug his heels in and said no

I am more than happy with Laurie, and so far he is much better option at the FB and JAC would not be happy to stay on the wing.

It’s different. They told Mansour he won’t get a game with them as they already had players contracted better than him.

Have a track record of trading them with threats of reserve grade. Seriously no club would do that in this day and age..... and what happens if he still says no play him reggies just to make a point..... its dumb to do especially for a club that’s struggling. It’s simple if Talau didn’t want to go he couldn’t have been forced to go.

Bit harsh on the youngster. Thought he did ok. Mumbai should've been there from the beginning. He is our best defensive centre and does some decent things in Attack. I like Tommy Turbo on the wing and just take hit ups back from kick returns. Need Jake the snake on the bench. Game is fast and 2 hookers work well. Not a fan of Twal atm....Maybe throw BJ in at 13 and let him play a roving role or put Garnier Fruictus at 13 and bring in a Tuki Simpkins or something. .

If Madge can't fire the boys up for this weekend he's got to go !!

I think Mbye at centre and Talau on the wing gave us the best outcomes last year. Having Mbye on that side also allows us to spread it on the last with him having the kick (ala Wade Graham for the sharks).

Talau still needs a lot more experience before moving to centre. He has glimpses in hm but the way he butchered two 2vs1 made me lose it at him.
