Thomas Talau

His biggest problem is effort and commitment. Shown today when he knocked the ball back and stopped chasing. Left it for Nofa to clean up

3/10 performance.

Isn't good enough for first grade.
God of state cup for mine.

He wouldn't do anything special in state cup either. Average state cup player at best.

One of many problems. Unfortunately I don't think some of his other problems are fixable.

I noticed that, I’m sure Madge did too

That was an embarrassment.
Rookie stuff.

Seen enough.
Hopefully he is relegated to state cup permanently when we've got the cattle, which I assume will be 2022.

A lot of people very hard on Talau in my view.
He’s played a total of 25 first grade games and was a junior 5/8. Shuffled between wing and centre. I can’t drop him yet he has to go through his development in first grade. You have to persist with talented athletes.

My issue is he looks underdone physically. Explosion and flexibility look like he hasn’t recovered fully from hamstring injuries.

Swap him out for Kennedy Maumalo

Talau needs to work on his body. Agility, strength and speed. We won’t make finals we need to play more youth. Tommy needs time.
He’s a big lad but has to get acceleration improved gets tackled side on with legs tackles too easily.

many a time where he was given an opening by Brooks and didn't possess the speed to trouble the defenders. 100% agree

I doubt Madge did, he hasn't noticed any other week

What talent? Where are you seeing this 'talent'?

Talua had a number of half chances, and cldnt make anything of them because he lacks both speed and footwork.
DSont think he has a future in the backs at NRL level

No one looked like they had the confidence in him to pass it to him.

He didn't look like he wanted to pass it to Nofo, most times when the pass was on.

He lacks the vision, skill and ability for FG.

Apparently he was a gun 5/8 coming through the grades.... I find that hard to believe.

Sounds just like Curtis Sironen...and similiarly has just got too big and too slow for ANY backline position.
With Kenny on the wing next week Id like to see Douihi and JTJ in the centres

Not the best performance from Tommy Talau tonight, but I will not give up on him yet. Even Reimis Smith for Melbourne looked clueless earlier in the season. Their fans were calling for his head back then.

I agree with some posters that he's not a quick thinker. If his first option is good, he usually executes well. When the opposition make him uncomfortable and he has to quickly think of something else, that's when the poor plays occur.

Honestly he needs to be spending most of his time in reserves. He can make it as a NRL player, but FG isn't the place for him to learn the things he needs to. If BJ and Roberts weren't so poor and Kepaoa didn't get injured when he did, this is what would be happening right now.
