@cochise Thanks mate.

Yeah its a tough one. As a Catholic myself its obviously tragic to say the least what some within the Church have done.

But at the same time, we don't worship 'the church' or its priests, so i couldn't see myself moving away from faith because of what some evil people have done. I also keep in mind the vast majority of priests are good men who have devoted their entire lives to serving others.

I honestly don't know any couples who have your dynamics, with one being a believer and one not ... i keep getting images of that Simpsons episode where Homer stops going to church :joy:

My problem with the Catholic church is its refusal to deal with those evil people, to own it's mistakes and take steps to rectify what has happened. The church itself has been too heavily involved in this behaviour.

It is an interesting dynamic but not really different to any other differences people may have in a relationship, you make compromises, I still attend church with my wife and daughter for significant parts of the year. Attend things like Christmas and Easter masses for example as my wife has a desire to bring my daughter up religious. I stopped short of my daughter attend a Catholic school though as I do not believe the Catholic church to have her best interests at heart as has been shown recently.

@cochise What is it about Catholic Schools that you don't like ?

Some of my kids attend Catholic Schools . They are probably a lot less Catholic than they should be .

Nothing to do with the religious aspect, it is the Catholics church's total failure to protect kids in their care, to cover up abuse and their total inadequate response to the Royal Commission. As I have stated I do not have a problem with religion or religious people, my problem is with the organisations involved in religion and their immoral, unethical, evil behaviour!

@cochise okay gotcha !

As a Catholic i hold these people to a higher standard than i would anyone else, so i absolutely agree with you on the failures of the Church hierarchy. I think all Catholics would agree with that.

In terms of Catholic Schools, i don't think there is any greater risk to kids than there would be in any other school. There are specific rules in place to deal with those concerns. I wouldn't send my kids there if i thought that wasn't the case.

I really do not think the Catholic Church hierarchy has done enough to gain my trust for the care of my daughter, their response to the Royal Commission and George Pell situations has been dreadful.

"I knew you would go too far!"

For pointing out your blatant hypocritical beliefs? I know, its a little unsettling when you get called out from your bubble and shown reality. Should educate yourself some more and try it sometime, although reality isnt for everyone.

Whatever you say FD - it is ok, I have turned the other cheek.

I'll pray for your misguided soul.

What good would praying do? How have you demonstrated that praying works? ........................crickets

While you pray for my misguided soul, i'll hope one day you may use an ounce of logic and come to the rational understanding that what you belief in is completely unfounded.

Wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.

Totally agree 😛oint_up: with you @Spud_Murphy: Yes, it's certainly a very strange way of making your point, but @cochise seems to be very knowledgeable about nearly everything, so I guess he feels justified in using whatever/anything/everything to prove he is right.
Have a great day Murph :fa-smile-o:

No it is not a strange way to prove a point, if someone who is Christian is displaying behaviour that goes against the bible, the core of their beliefs, we wouldn't I use the book they believe in to highlight their hypocrisy?

You have a set against me for pointing out that your posts were stirring up Wests V Balmain rubbish. I even went out of my way to try to make amends with you but you really seem to hold a grudge against me, doesn't seem very Christian to me. Anyway have a good day but please don't forget that plank in your eye!

I am very pleased that you can acknowledge when your actions do not live up to your beliefs, it takes a strong man to do that and I really admire you for that!

Do you think he can even recognise the hypocrisy?

I should pray for him to see the error of his ways.............and see how that works out.
