THREE PLAYERS GO INTO BAT FOR GOOD CAUSE
16/12/2010 3:30:08 PM

Wests Tigers will be represented in the inaugural Battle of the Smashers at Drummonyne Oval on Sunday, December 19, with Robbie Farah, Chris Lawrence and Chris Heighington padding up for a good cause.

And our much-loved Wests Tigers mascot will feature in a 100m sprint against Santa during the lunch break.

Ricky Stuart (NSW Origin coach), Anthony Minichiello, Mitchell Pearce, Jason Ryles (Sydney Roosters), Eamon Sullivan (Olympic swimmer), Burt Cockley, Beau Casson, Dominic Thornely, Neil Maxwell (NSW cricket), Steve Mortimer (Canterbury legend), Mark Bosnich (former Manchester Utd goalie) , Troy Waters, Daniel Geale and Vic Darchinyan (Boxing), Tim Mannah (Parramatta) and Jason Stevens (ex-Cronulla) are also playing in the Canada Bay Mayor’s XI v Thump All Stars match.

They are playing to raise money for a hydrotherapy pool to be built at Lucas Gardens, a school in Canada Bay which caters for children with physical and intellectual problems.

Entry is a gold coin donation at the gate and there are other events, including:

• The old grandstand being named after Test cricketer Archie Jackson who played in the 1920s and 30s.
• A footrace to find the fastest junior rugby league footballer in Canada Bay/Balmain
• Santa will race the Wests Tigers mascot in a 100m dash
• Hayley Bracken, wife of cricketer Nathan and an aspiring opera singer, will perform.

The match offers families with a cheap day out. There’ll be numerous opportunities for kids to meet their favourite athlete and the cricket should be fun. Families are being encouraged to bring a picnic on the sprawling hill, though food will be available.

Better idea. Send them to Perth and tell them to take their pads. They'll do a better job than the bunch of mugs currently playing over there.

Robbie's team won.

Chrissy L. and Heighno were opening batsmen for the other team. They walked out on the field with

Eye of the Tiger blasting through the speakers. Heighno didn't last long, but Chrissy was pretty good (of course!)

did santa win???

Yes, Alien, Santa won, but he didn't race against the Wests Tigers mascot. He raced against some guy in a giant

elf costume (or something like that?).
