Unbelievable isn't it?

Why does there seem to be this ingrained mentally among young people that you need to drink yourself stupid to have a good time?

Beau is a promising young player who has his own spot on a TV show, Bryce and Liam run their own business and that means they all have plenty to lose.

Are these players of today niave or arrogant to think they cant lose what they have?
 
We wonder why it takes players longer than expected to come back from injury, and here is a possible reason. The players aren't banned from alcohol because they don't know how to handle a drink. They are banned because they are professional athletes and alcohol has an adverse effect on their recovering bodies.
 
Nobody knows if they were drinking themselves stupid - the reason they got in trouble with the club is because there is a zero limit on grog when recovering from injury.
The incident in the carpark ( from an "anonymous" source ) seems to have been forgotton and was most probably nothing anyway.
Lucky they get paid heaps now - if there had been a grog ban in the 60's and 70's ( when the money wasn't there) nobody would have been playing. :laughing:

From what I have heard, it was a fair session from the boys, if the "protocol breach" is the worst that hits the media, we will be doing well.

Don't get me wrong, nothing massively bad went down, just typical 20 something year old blokes causing a ruckus isn't the best way for our club to move forward considering our current legal issues.

Come on boys, some common sense is needed!
 
One of the so called boys must be close to packing his bag not long since the last off field drama..we do need space under the cap and plenty of young front rowers to upgrade .
 
If there had not been an 'incident' in the car park would the club management have been aware that the players had been out on the night.
Was the only reason that the club had been informed because of said incident, who dobbed them in and why?, has someone a hidden agenda or simply an axe to grind?.

How hard is it to exercise a bit of commonsense? They're all well paid, I'm sure they have televisions at home to watch the footy on… Even if they were going to break the alcohol conditions, they could have at least done it at home and not caused a bloody scene.

Agree with your last sentence. Just wished they showed a bit more commonsense about it. Beau should at least know better given how often he is in the media these days with his Footy Show gig. Anyway, hopefully one of those minor incidents which they learn from and it never happens again.

If this was Miles, Friend and Todd Carney our reactions would be far different
 
Theres a big difference between having a couple of quieties and watching the footy as opposed to the crap those three regularly serve up.

Carney and co break the law when they get drunk.

Our three broke club rules.

Ill advised? sure. Big deal? not really.

spot on Juro. If you are a professional athlete and you are out injured, wouldn't you want to do everything in your power to get back asap, especially after such a long off season.
 
Don't think this needed to be made public though.

They break club rules, keep it within the club.
 
Whilst it's not a hanging offence, it is incredibly stupid and unprofessional. I have a mate who was playing A Grade park AFL and had a fairly minor knee injury (kept him out for a month or so). He was told by a PARK football coach that if he had ambitions to stay in the A-grade side he should touch a drop of alcohol until his knee is good enough for him to be playing again. Why these 3 thought it would be smart to have a few beers at a pub while injured, let alone engage in a verbal altercation in the carpark is beyond me.

The club has handled it well, as I said, not a hanging offence, just dumb and unprofessional.
 
I agree no need to be made public they have been sanctioned and dealt with keep it in house, not like they misbehaved or broke the law.

Yeah this is pretty much what I take out of it.

from a club stand point, I can understand the concerns
from an NRL stand point, non event
from a judicial stand point, non event.

We shouldnt know about this to be honest. Whoever broke this "story" has an agenda.

Does anybody on this forum who consistently talk about "cutting" contracted players have the slightest grasp of contract law - or how contractual pay-outs are in fact counted under the salary cap?????

It would seem not!!!!

Grow up kiddies!!!

(And don't argue that other teams do it - because if & when they do - they cop a hit to both their balance statement & salary cap!!!)

Got a run in the local papers out here today, that's probably where it started. Basically said they watched the game, had a few drinks each, 2 got in a verbal altercation with a couple which was broken up by a bouncer and the club wasn't happy fining them "in the thousands."

I agree we shouldn't, but we do. Irrespective of whether this goose went public with it because he has an agenda or not, I'm annoyed that something like that this has happened so soon after what transpired with Benji. I think the club has dealt with it very well, but the point remains that the story has gotten out.

Wait for those hacks Rothfield and Massoud to cop wind of this and turn it into a force 5 sensationalist story.

Thats just my opinion though, I don't like microscopes being trained on our players and club.
