I doubt the Tigers will get more than 10,000 season ticket holders until they get away from the inadaqate suburban grounds both of these grounds grandstands are full now ..I had 5 season tickets for several years and will not pay top dollar to sit on a concourse and in the elements friends of mine think the same. To be honest I could not care less if we never went back to these grounds time for managment to harden up and make the right move for the future they play out of SFS 20,000 paying seats would not be a problem. But Tradition blah blah over it .

You should just buy the GA tickets. You can sit in a seat at the SFS and Campbelltown on a GA ticket.

Yes thats what we do at times but being supporters of the club we would like to be members but the club has to offer us appropriate seating for the prices charged .We do play out of a large stadium and to be honest its time to move forward and break the shackles of the past ..this is a buisness after all .

See its interesting.

I am moving for work next year and will likely attend zero games but I am keeping my Gold Membership and letting friends use it or when they don't want it let the club issue to someone in need as per their program.

I am doing this because I have good seats at all grounds and want to maintain those as I would be unlikely to ever get the seats I have at Leichhardt or Campbelltown again

Good point.

WT seems to have the largest and widest fan base of all nrl clubs (the amount of wt merchandise you see people wearing all over nsw and qld) new/young wt fans plus old balmain and magpies fans gives us a huge popular following yet we have relatively low membership.. Why?

Guys this year was my first year of becoming a Tiger member, i was very excited to receive my hat ,my scarf,my coded card for 4 tickets to LO. I told my family we will go to the same match we went last year up against the Strom.
>
Well i was wrong.
>
I emailed the Tigers and was extremly disappointed that i was told no you can only use one of your 4 tickets!
I didnt go. I sent my son and his girl although he could only use one ticket of the 4.
>
I told him if he wants to go to the Roosters game use it because the remaining two tickets the members hat and scarft are going to be sent back to S.Humpreys(dont really care about the spelling of his name).
>
If i could take the sticker off my car (members sticker) i would send it back to him as well. As you can see i am bitterly disappointed with my team that i have followed since i was 8 years old am 54 now.
>
Guys have you come across this like me? Last year this was not the case my son and nephew were both members and this has turn us all off.
>
regards
The Tiger (non member but always a TIGER)

Hope u dont renew ur membership, tigers dont need shit supporters like you. Read what you get in the membership before you buy it, one ticket to four games you cant use 4 at 1 imagine if all the members did that. Look forward to being a member without you next year

The truth is that we, like Penrith have a large fanbase in the young family category and membership is not an option with stretched budgets and high junior participation in weekend sport.

The groundwork laid in these years will not be shown for at least 5 years in terms of membership growth.

Unless we give them away to housos, bums and dead people like Souffs

i will never be a member (we used to have the best seats in the house) when gold members, simply because of the way the game is run .. 3 home grounds for starters,, channel 9 telling me when my team will play, what night and what time.. i have a small transport company so monday and friday night games are non events for me ,,i have also travelled to new zealand and mad a log weekend out of it ,, but the nrl cant tell me pre season when the game will be played so you have to book and hope its when you can make it ..i coach two junior sides and have two nrl passes and i still havent been to a game this year ,…and finally i just cannot handle the inconsistancy of todays referees..two on the field with completely different interpretations....

Yeah I hear ya I run water for my young blokes team, both of us have free passes yet never use them, work prevents me on MNF and his footy stuffs up Sun games more often than not.
I remember as a kid you could pretty well bank on a home game at the one ground on Sat or Sun virtually every 2nd week…too hard nowadays with no time and games all over the joint I dunno how some people do it.

And I thought Souths fans were a bunch of wingers but this forum tops them

Me and my housemate became members this year for the first time (previously didn't live in Sydney) and we think its been fantastic - discounted tickets, merchandise discount, get to stand on the hill at leichardt 4 times a year but also get the comfortable seats for the big games at the sfs. Cap was good and the days at the footy are great . Don't go to Campbelltown because well its so bloody far away and while I'd personally love all the games at SFS or Leichardt I understand we have history and have to have games at Campbelltown.

Also just love being a member and feeling a part of the club - I figure if you haven't joined up at least to non ticketed membership you really shouldnt ever complain about the club as your not putting in. I might not always agree with everything they do but no one ever will however I think we really are one of the best run clubs in the comp and I am excited for the rest of this year with injured players back and then next year with some changes is really excited for next year already. Win loose or draw doesen't really matter its about the passion of cheering on your team

Hey Guys,

I have been reading this forum for around 7 years and felt compelled to join after reading this discussion thread. I work in the Sporting Industry and would like to clear a few things up for you regarding Membership and the way it works.

Firstly, I would like to address the original issue that resulted in the creation of this thread. Purchasing a 4 Game Membership for Leichhardt Oval is just that, a 4 Game Membership for the specified ground. This Membership package does not in any way create a falsified perception that you can attend the one match and bring along 3 guests. This Membership package was designed for those people who have a passion for Leichhardt Oval and perhaps are unable to travel to our other two home grounds. I would implore you all to read the terms and conditions of each Membership prior to purchasing.

One question I would like to ask you guys is that when entering Leichhardt Oval are you required to scan your Membership card at the turnstile or do you simply show your card to the gate attendant as if you had a paper ticket?

The reason I ask this question is that the barcodes on any Membership card (for any code) only allow for one entry per match. If you were to turn up on match day expecting that you can scan your card multiple times you will be in for a rude awakening. The turnstiles that exist outside a ground are directly linked to the ticketing agency's system, which in the Tiger's case is Ticketek. Put simply, ticketing systems will not allow for multiple entries.

Further to the previous point, when a Membership card is misplaced and the club is issuing a replacement card they are required to cancel the old card's barcode. Why? Simply to avoid the issue of people double scanning cards. If your Membership card ends up in the hands of another person and they just so happen to attend the same match as you (and enter the ground before you) your barcode will not work and it will simply say that you have already entered the ground. The Club (and all clubs for that matter) have these processes set in place to ensure that their Members are looked after first.

Barcodes are used to track Member attendance data and if you are not scanning your card when entering the ground the Club must look at upgrading the turnstiles at Leichhardt. Attendance date is vital to a Club's Membership team as they look create targeted campaigns for renewals whilst also tracking member attendance trends year on year.

The issuing of paper tickets has been raised and I would like to make you aware of how outdated such a system is. Providing Members with paper tickets is very costly for a club as it is extremely time consuming for the admin staff, let alone the price that it costs the Club to print thousands of tickets off year on year.

There has also been some comments regarding the scheduling of matches and people's inability to attend. Rugby League is no longer just a sport, it is entertainment. Whilst fans can be frustrated by the NRL not announcing the draw for an entire season you must also recognise the contractual obligations that the NRL has to Foxsports and Channel Nine. Fans love being able to watch a game of footy four nights a week. If the NRL was to reduce the number of nights that footy is played on the game will suffer as they will not be able to command anywhere near as much money when the TV rights deal is being negotiated. The other two prominent national football competitions (AFL and A-League) both play midweek games and have their matches spread across four nights a week in order to maximise revenue and this will not change. If the NRL was to revert back to the old Friday to Sunday footy the competition and its fans would suffer.

I must admit that I find it appalling that there are so many people on here who are quick to say that they will not be renewing their Membership next year. I would consider anyone who contributes on this forum to be a passionate supporter of the Club, and you are exactly the kind of people that must remain involved. You should support the Membership programme at the Tigers as it will form the backbone of the Club in years to come. Club revenue streams are changing, and it is imperative that supporters get behind their team and purchase Memberships. You must recognise that Membership is relatively new to the NRL and that there will be teething problems along the way, this is not the time to be deserting your Club when they need you the most. With such a large supporter base the Wests Tigers should be pushing for some of the highest Membership numbers in the NRL and you should be helping them get there.

To be honest mate i dont think you would get nearly as many tigers fans if you moved the games away from campbelltown or leichardt…Yeah the attendance is relatively the same at say SFS/ANZ as leichardt but 90% of the fans at the leichardt games are tigers supporters where as if we played say the bunnies at scg it would probably be 50/50 or even worse.

I am a tigers member and i try and get out to a few games but i try and prioritise that the games i go to are at Leichardt preferrably and if not then campbelltown as really the reason any fan goes to the football is for the atmosphere. No ground provides more atmosphere then a sold out leichardt oval standing on the hill with some of the most passionate fans.

Realistically if we are not bringing these home games to the fans home towns then would they really be the fans team if they were based at ANZ or the SFS, I think not.

Personally I'm a tigers member not to be granted tickets to the games it's because i'm proud to be a member and i want to support my team. I enjoy having the membership sticker on the back or my car and wearing that scarf with the keyring attatched to my keys to show that the tigers are my team and i'm proud to support them.

Well said

To answer your question, like a Tiger, members cards are scanned when a member enters one of our grounds. As far as I know paper tickets are no longer used.

I must be alone of this, I actually love the hat and the scarf. From the grandstand looking acorss to the middle bay last week at Campbelltown, those Orange scarves looked amazing, just dotted around the ground.

WAY better than the 2010 "scarf". That thing would have cost $3 to make, nothing warm about it, had a plastic feel to it, disgusting, Very happy with the cap + scarf.

The scarf is a horrible colour and the hat has half the logo.

I liked the 2009 hat, was actually comfortable to wear!

I'm a bit upset with the player retention and the colour of the gear, I will stay a member next year but might scale it back just to campbelltown games as my lady and I will most likely be trying for kids by the renewal form makes its way to us.

I signed up midway through 2009 so I could whinge about the club if I felt the need to do so. This is the first year I have felt the need to do so.

Being in the country and rarely getting a game that doesnt involve a Friday or Monday game I elected for the Stripes upgrade with a one game pass to a home game, (paper ticket) which I used for the recent Storm game at LO. Combined with the hat & scarf I thought it was still good value for money. Joining the Tigers Five Dock for a 3 year membership for the princely sum of $3 that also got me a bus ride back to the club where I was parked was even more value. To top this off also meeting some of the players that returned to the Club for presentations was well worth it. So me personally I think the membership is fine and I guess you purchase what is considered value to you. If I was living in Sydney I would certainly look at a Gold membership, as you cannot put a price on six months of enjoyment during the footy season. So horses for courses, and I will still remain a Wests Tigers supporter :sign:
