ftr i dont think it will happen, woods is a local junior who has been in the system and ear marked for big things for years..have we ever lost a promising junior under sheens?

I would attempt to keep Fifita, Woods and Murdoch Masilla before signing Blair. 3 young forwards who all play a little different.

In saying that I can't see it happening unless we lose other players.

I am pretty sure the clubs can get some exemption from the cap if players have been with the club 7 years +

If that is correct 13 of our starting 17 has some sort of % of their pay exempt from the cap.
I am 99% sure about the 7 year deal not so about the juniors.

woods should and will be the first off contract player retained….
Buying Blair to play in the front row is stupidity IMO he is a damaging backrower, and to get the best out of him he should be playing there.

Someone may need to correct me on this but this was discussed on another thread and i think we came to the understanding that junior years at a club are ineligible as years of service to a club . Hopefully this changes with Independant commission

They are inelligible for the Wests Tigers I believe because the junior clubs are not WT.

That thread was a discussion based on a rumour by a rugby league journalist who happens to be in the know with that particular club (probably because he can't get in the door of any other club.) It wasn't something dredged up for the sake of starting a thread.

Don't forget the salary cap is bound to go up with the new IC and also new TV rights. Therefore backend Blair's contract a little and we also have more money to keep all these juniors now at the start of their NRL careers.

Don't forget, the ave NRL career is STILL something like 50-70 games so lets not get too excited just yet… Hopefully they do kick on and become outlyers in these statistics!!

Lui, Ayshford, Fifita & BMM arent Tiger Juniors…

Woods is a must keep (has a great workload like Bull Bailey/Petro 50calitre), Begovich again a must keep (this guy reminds me of a young Webke)... Then following this generation, we have Groat and he could be anything, even likely a staring role in the next Hulk Movie?

I have no problems offloading Fifita and BMM.... They will get bigger offers than they are worth and we shouldnt compete to keep them.

I think you will find this to be incorrect… they are actually Penrith juniors and went to Griffith as teenagers, and the club picked them up from there???

Smeg or Red would know...
