A player this could effect greatly with Grant coming over is Chee Kam.
Grant comes over & starts as 9 see's the likes of Walters taking a bench/utility role. Something Chee Kam has covered last year, Madge likes having big bodies on the bench, unless Chee Kam could jag a starting spot I see him missing out if Grant makes the move.

Way off, IMO, Reynolds + Liddle suffer massively. Rather MCK off the bench (easily one of our best there) and only one of the three that fills in at centre so that mainly leaves Mbye as cover

I'm with you.

2 props, one back rower (nether garner or LL can play 80) and one utility (no hooker can play 80). Once we have players who can play the full 80 you could add an extra big guy but our forwards are really quite durable as is. Twal can play 50-60. Aloiai 40. Mikaele 40. Musgrove 40-50. We don't need to restrict them to 20 min spurts of pure power and impact.

Garner can play 80. Did it a few times last year to good effect.

Garner/MCK and LL at the very least shores up and locks down two sides of the ruck. One from the bench - Mbye could even slide into a roving 2nd row role and hope not to get concussed.

Think BB above was assuming I’d suggested Madge was looking at playing either two of Reynolds/Walters when you’d have to assume due to salary cap pressure he moves Kev to CC.

Tbh it’s a real toss up for mine and the last big issue between who a replacement lock is and which extra bopper we DO carry once the hooker dilemma is sorted. Liddle could. Grant likely.

INTERESTING SNIPPET FROM FOX SPORTS

Storm captain Cameron Smith has no immediate plans to retire when his contract ends at the conclusion of the 2020 season.

Should he choose to play on in 2021, Smith would enter an unprecedented 20th season in the NRL.

Currently the most-capped player in history with 411 NRL games to his name, the 27-year-old revealed he has a spring in his step heading into the Storm’s minor premiership defence.

The ego and selfishness of the man is huge. He will play on in 2021 to chalk up 450

And also for his wife to get matching diamond earings to go with her ring.He will probably try to squeeze out at least one more testimonial from Toddles

To start the season we need 2 props, one back rower and one hooker/utility on the bench. We don't have the squad to manage otherwise

I am almost certain that Maguire would have Garner locked in for 80 on the left edge. Our rotations will be completely shambolic if we don't have at least one back rower doing 80 minutes given we'll be carrying a utility on the bench. It's not going to be at lock so it's Garner or Luciano and my money's on the skinny guy...

And if I'm not mistaken, Luciano played 80 mins in every St George game 2019 except 2, and those two were 75 and 68 mins. He missed 1 round.

So he can certainly play 80, question is: is he effective playing 80?

Yeah he can play it too but I think Garner is probably more effective playing 80 so he should do it at least for the early rounds. Later on when Luciano is fitter and better defensively Madge has the option of picking between the two

For sure, seems the only logical way to do it for me. Chee Kam takes the second rower spot for me, big questions marks are over who starts and who takes the bench spots

I can't sympathise with you there. If he trains hard and executes the game plan he will get his shot. He shouldn't expect a spot

Yep. Hopefully the days of assuming you're in 1st grade at WTs are behind us. Everyone needs to earn/maintain their spot.

Leilua only started 5 games of 22...and averaged 41mins a game in 2019 so you are mistaken...played 80 in 3 games of those 5 ..

Thanks, where did you get the data? I looked up nrl.com couldn't find, ended up on NRL Super Coach stats. Happy to be corrected.

Foxsports

Nrl.com stats blow chunks..half the players only 7 games are listed..

Both LL and Garner have only ever played 80 mins a handful of times each. Garner did look gassed at times last year. Another off season will help but you wouldn't want to bank on either of them playing the full 80 at this stage.

And MCK won us 2-3 games single-handedly by coming off the bench late in games and carving up tired opponents. He's earned his bench spot.

Must have signed on at age 7? ?

Hate and moan about the guy all you like. 20 years in the NRL, closing in on 40 is something that will never be topped. The most durable player of all time, daylight second. Plays the game in a dinner suit.

He is still 1 of my favourite players to watch so intelligent the way he goes about his work

As far as I am concerned Smith doesn’t exist. He should have been banned for life along with a few others from Melbourne. He sets the ultimate in bad examples of corruption winning.
