Tigers board to undertake post-season review

It’s becoming a drama at the Tigers heard an interesting radio byte with Michelle Bishop confirming non responsiveness of our front office in player signings, not returning calls etc. also stated 2 key players said they would leave if Madge went. I think is was on SEN. Sge is very rarely wrong.

Too many people have said the same things. I doubt it’s a media beat up. It sounds like we are out of our depth in the front office and it’s become a media leaking witch hunt to protect people’s backsides.

You couldn’t write this stuff.

Well if the decision is to not punt Madge and get rid of a few senior players, how exactly are they going to communicate that? They can’t exactly announce that they are going to shop Brooks or Nofa around.

I tend to agree with Benji. I tend not to blame Maguire…. Im 50/50 but in reality I think he and the club have been put in a terrible position by the continual and relentless media barrage. It has been non stop for years really and last I looked there are another 5 or 6 clubs equally or worse than us but a lot of the time they skate…..I know the results have been bad but again, in comparison. I think this contributes to players and agents thinking twice about us etc etc. in some ways we need a real clean out inc front office to totally rebrand and re-envisage what the club is about.. tbh I don’t know….

Certainly more than possible, I thought we were tracking to finish stronger than we did, a couple of games we really should of won and we wouldn’t be here. We were a long way from last?

You would have to think Madge would argue that with out some better players to assist the youth of the team, we were never a chance until there development was adequate? And our “not paying overs policy” was a big factor in the recruitment process.

Probably this wouldn’t have been too bad if we had beaten the dogs at the end, we were crap and it certainly got everyone smelling blood.

Absolutely spot on. Some of our players and other employees of the club really need to take a long hard look at themselves.

I seen an article (I didn’t read it) where Benji was supposedly shouting for Sheens to replace Madge?

that’s only one way to look at it.
I really get what Joel Caines saying.
We are human right, we are wired differently to each other. Some people have many of those qualities that Joel mentioned some people have none.
I don’t think his calling for the club to sack any of the senior players. I believe he is calling out the club for identifying the wrong leaders and failing to recruit the kind of personalities needed.
It’s a call to not just the players on and off the field but also to the administration.
Are you a winner?
Are you a leader?
Are you competitive?
Are you fiercely loyal?

We’ve all laughed at how a jovial Steve from sales calls and asks if your renewing your membership only to find that it’s actually a different persons records they are looking at (or whatever example) we know the club, heck you can even see in in that documentary the state of the club.
I’m a stanch fan of the tigers but episode one aside from enjoying the ride of each round I just saw such an unprofessional set up. I know it’s a fly of the wall documentary but even what was filmed looked b grade.
Straight after that 1st episode finished I thought to myself that’s a great concept now if only the Roosters or the Melbourne Storm would do similar so I can get an insight to how a professional club is supposed to look.

That’s a great way to put it mate.

People blaming Madge, but the onus has to be on the players to have higher standards for themselves, do I eat that hamburger? Do I do that extra recovery session or spend time on social media? Do I watch Storm games rather than spend time with family? The group we have (some probably do) aren’t taking those right options away from Madge’s direction. High standards are a culture and ours has been poor for years, think Tim Simona - that’s why I’m so hard on those who have let this club get to where it is over such a long time. Even a Centre of Excellence won’t work for us. Oporto is still open.
