Tigers board to undertake post-season review

Ive read somewhere- probably on this thread, that the Board has the report nut are undecided on what to do.

I suspect what they decide to do depends very much on which coaches are interested. Madge may be gifted another season if the biggest competition is Flanno and Green.

I don't think any of us know where the review is up to and that's fair to the process, I suppose. That it's dragged on longer than we were led to believe shows how Chairman Mouth has let us all down again.

But, I also don't think that Maguire can be retained as a "least worst" option. Either he is capable of fulfilling his contract, or he isn't. Either he gets the complete authority and endorsement from the Board to fulfil duites as the NRL coach, or he doesn't.

How does the outcome of Maguire "at least not being Green or Flannagan" help him coach with certainty and confidence in 2022? It can't, in my opinion.

And, just to be clear, I prefer him to be retained than removed.

If we end up with Green, I will be extremely disappointed. If we end up up with Flanagan my support for the club will change.

So you are suggesting that if they are unhappy with Madges performance, results, status with the players, capacity to attract new players, that they should replace him with an inferior option? How does that make us better?

I prefer that the club has the best man possible in the role.

Not sure its a job for a rookie coach,even with Sheens involved as coaching director.
For mine,Wollf has done a great job at everything hes touched,and importantly seems to elicit senior player loyalty..exactly what we need.Hes my top choice,but...given Sheens has been trying to get out of UK for 2 months,Wollf probably in same boat(pardon the pun)...
Next choice is Morris reporting into Sheens..he'll do a solid job for a couple of years,and wont disappoint

Hooper reports Sheens is involved in the review as part of his new role at the club.

Rothfield reports he spoke to someone who advised him that Sheens doesn't know when he is coming here or what his role is with the club.

He’s such a light weight, he tried to emulate Ray Hadley.
There was a Mark Levy playing for Balmain in the 80s - not sure is he is the same guy but teams has to play-off during the week to decide who qualifies for the semi finals (no points differential back then) - anyway Mark Levy missed a conversion straight in front of the posts at full time for Balmain against Parramatta which would have seen Balmain qualified for the semis - (Balmain lost by one point as a result) —- the next year Levy went to Parramatta. Does anyone know if this is the same clown?

Board understands the move to youth and supportive but are worried their doesent seem to be a good plan around the defence and making it better.

An organised operation would have explored these options, understanding their viability well before the review began.
Just another example of incompetence with this lot.

How unprofessional do you think it would look (to a prospective coach or player) to begin these machinations whilst the competition was still live?

I understand that the club is unsuccessful and going badly, I understand that it seems endemic and has been going on for 10 years now and people hate the board for it, but what the board is actually doing right now, is exactly what they should be doing and if they werent, we should be jumoing up and down.

That shift could culminate in Maguire being axed despite two years remaining on his deal.

There is little doubt that the Tigers want to speak with Ciraldo. He has indicated he won’t pursue any opportunities until his commitments with the Panthers end, which will happen within the next fortnight.

The Tigers have put a total recruitment and retention freeze while they make a decision on their coach. They have been linked to Adam Elliott and Tariq Sims but are unable to make genuine plays for the back-rowers because of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding their coach.

I find it all a little strange. According to Chammas the review is finished and the board want to sack Maguire but they dont have a replacement? May be able to hire Ciraldo but he wont talk to Tigers for another 3 weeks. I see another 10 years without finals.
