The club has always been overly sensitive to criticism IMO. I'm fine with any swearing or personal attacks being banned by it seems you can't say anything slightly negative about the team or club without getting deleted. This along with the club monitoring forums like LU and others, then contacting the mods and requesting things be taken down is just ridiculous.

I said it last year and I don't want to go over old ground but I was a corporate sponsor of the tigers a few years ago. I was stillon their mailing list. After the round 25 roosters loss I got a generic email saying they had boxes available for hire for the storm game. I wrote back and said to take me off the list as I wouldn't be attending anymore heartless displays. I got a response back saying 'you have been removed from the list'

Basic business principals should have been that I was contacted, my crisitims heard, then offered a box at a reduced rate…they obviously weren't going to sell them and to be honest, I probably would have bought it.

The club is run by old boys and from my limited dealings with them are very, very unprofessional from the bottom up. If you want to see how a professional club runs a home game go to a dogs or rabbits home game.

Lol sorry but thats funny. Trying to play hardball and they play it harder.

pretty poor imo.

@josephcmccord hi. Just read some trash on your site about a guy banned. Nothing to hide here. Using insulting language isn't on.

Grant Mayer's response to your plight.

Surely the CLUB has better things to worry about than social media and its trolls…............... !

I for one am more interested in the TEAM !

@josephcmccord no idea who sabre is. Happy to be involved when appropriate but hiding behind nicknames doesn't appear right. Happy to do q&a

I feel honoured…
Pathetic really that he didn't care about what I had to say, and will now criticise me for taking my complaint here...
I used my name when i did contact him originally.

social media is extremely important in the modern world and must be taken seriously.
it has to be part of the marketing strategy and dispelling untruths is important to club image

If a club posts something, yes, but monitoring opinions is weak. It should be a free for all. They put themselves out there, so they should listen to what ppl have to say (good and bad)

I personally think Mayer has bigger dragons to slay at the moment than worrying about social media.

That's not to say I think they handled the situation well either.

HaHa, now according to Mayer I am an 'anonymous, dishonest person with an agenda.' And he doesn't have time for people like me. Great way to talk about the fans of your club, team and organisation.

I'm pretty stoked that Mr Mayer has decided to do a Q&A for us tbh. Sabre mate just put it behind you. Call it a miscommunication and put a smile on your dial.

If you swore on the Facebook page that's all that's going to matter to the COO. I don't even know how it got escalated to him but imagine being in his shoes and having an issue like that get presented to you. That buck should have stopped with the social media manager. To him a guy got banned from Facebook for swearing and somehow emailed the friggin boss of the Wests Tigers to complain about it. Right or wrong doesn't come into it he doesn't have the time nor should he to investigate whether or not the decision made by the social media manager to remove you is correct. He is going to take the word of his member of staff over a random fan. That you then decided to publicly denounce him and the club for something he perceives as you being the cause of.

Not suggesting that you are right or wrong or whatever just trying to get you to see it from his perspective. Admittedly it's difficult putting yourself in the shoes of the COO of the greatest footy team of all. :sign:

Tbh Sabre I think all of the derision has been directed at the OP and when he said he has no idea who you are he literally means he doesn't know who you are what your concern is. The other stuff is all being directed at OP as far as I can see.

Im not sure if that's directed at me however my message was sent to him over Twitter. The OP was the one with the facebook dilemma, mine and was of a completely different nature. I wasn't happy with the response I got but it ended there, I still wasn't happy with the reply but I didn't keep on about it.
However after seeing tonight him call me out then start name calling is just immature on his part. I completely get your point however, but it is just the fact that I would like to see him acknowledge the fans in a more positive light, and listen to their thoughts rather than disregard them. Hopefully if he does come on here for a Q&A he can change my resolve any issues that anybody holds and can change my mind.

That's possibly true but whether what he said was directed at me or the OP its not the way someone in his position should talk about the fans.

Yeah I don't think he was calling you names man. I'm pretty sure it was like "not sure what sabre is talking about but that other person was etc. etc." na mean? Just a misunderstanding. I hope so too! It's great that I was able to approach him out of the blue and get the responses I've been getting tbh. Not everyone is going to be happy with the way things are done I guess and it's unfortunate that you had a negative experience with the WT. Hopefully it gets better.

Quick suggestion.

If you take umbrage with the way this is being handled the best way to approach it is to send a direct email and open the correspondence on a civil level.

This social media BS is just that. Trying to convey tone and establish rapport in 140 odd characters on Twitter or in a comment bubble on Facebook is mindless.

Poor handling by the COO in reacting on Twitter. In my opinion Twitter is for players and blurb media messages and promotions, not for the executives of a club to even enter into a debate. Private accounts so they control access to what they communicate and have their personal space.

Also I don't feel his response was aimed at you. It was aimed at a screen handle. It is it's own beast. We say things under a screen name and that leaves us open to criticism via that name. It isn't you as a person, it isn't calling you out.

Much ado about nothing as the Bard may suggest.

He only reacted on twitter because I was currently engaged in a dialogue with him about coming on the forum to make a contribution. He clearly did and found this thread and tweeted at me his stance on the matter. His honesty in sharing his opinion is pretty unique and refreshing from where I sit. Who knows what the OP said to him in emails to inspire the "have an agenda" accusations and frankly I don't want to know. He's offering to do us a pretty awesome service by conducting an on forum Q&A. How cool is that?

It was more me expressing my dislike for the medium and it's use from a corporate party then a judgement on his interaction
