DESPITE their insistence on backing their talented youth, the Tigers are set to make a splash in the transfer market by targeting off-contract duo Ryan Morgan and Ethan Lowe.

The Tigers have surprised many with their 3-3 start to open the year and new coach Jason Taylor is happy with the way his squad has performed, but is reportedly keen to bolster his depth on the edge.

Second-rower Lowe is in the best form of his career right now and is flourishing playing around stars Johnathan Thurston, Matt Scott and Gavin Cooper. But the Cowboys will struggle to match the offers from rival clubs after recently signing Jason Taumalolo and Michael Morgan to lucrative multi-year deals.

The acquisition of Lowe at the Tigers would be a big coup for the club who boast one of the best young forward packs in the comp.

The Tigers have also identified versatile centre Morgan as a target following reports the Eels will most likely not offer him a new deal.

The 24-year-old, who can also play in the second row, would provide plenty of depth for the Tigers and would prove a handy replacement for off-contract centre Tim Simona, who is being chased by up to four clubs.

Taylor is desperate to retain Simona who has been one of the Tigers best this season but faces some stiff competition on the open market.

Along with Simona, the Tigers are also hoping to lock up hard-running forward Ava Seumanufagai.

Lowe would be a great buy. Young, strong and skillful. I'm pretty surprised no-one has snapped him up already.

Morgan replacing Simona? That makes me want to vomit.

Gee the player market stories just keep coming. Very unsettling considering most are speculation, but seems to be part of the modern game.

X2

Morgan is mud compared to Simona.
I'm sure something could be worked out to keep Simona, I'm confident he wants to stay here.

Maybe Morgan to replace Lawrence.
But I'm still not interested.

Lowe would be a terrific addition to our team. That's the sort of purchase we don't usually make - young, in form, plenty of potential in a position we need.

Morgan would only be a cheap backup.

We want Simona and he wants to stay….i wouldn't be reading much into the media noise on this. If we need to we can back-end his contract with some of Lawrence's money once he comes off contract.

The Simona situation is one that will continually come up over time with so many good young players at our club and other cashed up clubs having the funds to take them, history repeats unfortunately.

When i read Morgan in the title, i thought it was Michael Morgan and i was like ''hell yeah''…..............then i read it was Ryan.

As for Lowe, he'd be great, but probably a bit out of our range. But have a go, we need to go after these kinds of players.

I call bs on the Morgan link.

Takarangi has squeezed him out of the club yet we didnt even want Takarangi.

If we sign Morgan he won't play firsts unless an injury occurs. Probably to replace Lulia. Simona will stay.

Ethan Lowe..haven't seen much of him.

I think Ryan Morgan is extremely underrated… Reminds me of a younger Lawrence, although not as good. Is a solid defender, has got a bit of toe, runs some nice lines. For the right price I think he could be a great pick up.

Haven't seen a lot of Ethan Lowe, but from what i've seen he would be a good buy for us. Pretty young at 24 too, so is still on the improve.

Gee Ryan Morgan is a good centre, I don't get the negativity. As a replacement for Simona no, but to play the other side with us retaining Simona then it's a yes from me.

Morgan is rubbish. Just ask any Parramatta fan.

Ethan Lowe though, heck yes! A young prototypical backrower with a bright representative future. That's an excellent signing if we can pull it off.

Ryan Morgan is a decent centre but also having a bit of a google about him he seems to be one of the hardest working players who is meticulous about his diet and training which is what you want int your club and backline as it helps avoid injuries and sets a great example.

He would be a great back up for our centres and with 24 tries in 69 matches he is a try scorer and would add real competition for Lawrence or perhaps a replacement for Simona, who while I would also love to keep with our young guns then centre is always going to be hard to keep especially with us being stuck with Lawrence for at least 1 more year

Ethan Lowe would be a fantastic signing in that right back rower position with Lovett moving back to the bench filling the Halatau utility role. This addition would give us one of the bet packs in the game next year esp if we held onto Ava and with Lodge back and a year older.
