Tigers have shown that the need for a Hooker isnt really there in the modern game.

I wouldn't be making that statement based on one performance. Our lack of hooker options is what costs us against Melbourne.

Agree anyone been watching the Raiders lately.

Dont know anything about this bloke, but at 25 years and bugger all first grade it doesn't fill me with much confidence.

Still not sure if or why we haven't targeted Damian Cook.
With Robbie most likely going to the Rabbits, it would make sense that some deal could be done as he's been lingering in reserve grade for the bunnies.

Cook is under contract and is now getting selected ahead of McInness. If Souths are actually signing Farah then Cook would make a better bench option for them than McInness as he's got more impact about him and greater utility value (can cover the back line).

Souths have been trying to offload Cook for a while, but have had no takers.
Does that say something, plus after his brain failure last week not much grey matter.

Replacement for Cherrington in state cup.
Nothing special, just another Drinkwater signing.

No harm, no foul.

Yep I have and Hodgson is killing it, he is a real good player, ohh and a real hooker. :astonished:

They're probably looking for cover for Ballin. There's no guarantee he'll make a full recovery at his age and it being his second injury in as many yrs. All we need is a 9 who can get the ball to Brooks and Moses.

A solid defender who can pass off the ground is all we need for backup.
Liddle, Ballin and JLJ/Rankin can all play there

that's it - Dene Halatau is all we want, so train another second rower up, it's all the coach wants.

By the way, how does Liddle fit in? He's way too creative! Coach won't want him, he's too much like Robbie.

Liddle is good, different player to Farah more like Granville from Cowboys. He is fast out of dummy half and can bring halves onto the ball at pace. Rarely drifts sidewards and uses the ball as a ball player.
I think he is the future however, plenty of youngsters have fizzled out which, is why we need a backup.

Farah will be gone, Ballin may retire, Halatau will retire, Cherro to Penrith. To be honest we need another 2 hookers in the club if Ballin retires which, he should as he has been crippled by injury.

Matt McIlwrick goes okay, nothing flash just does his job which is what Taylor is after from a DH.
Damian Cook is not what Taylor is looking for. I actually like Cook, quick out of DH, good pass and defence is decent.
Ballin should retire tbh…nothing worse than taking up cap space.
Daryl Clark from Warrington is another i would go after but he would most likely take up a transfer fee.
If you want a decent smokey i would go after Mitchell WILLIAMS from Wyong. Very underrated hooker who would be a diamond in the rough.

Amazing how we can go from too many hookers to not enough in the space of six months.

Phil Rothfield is having the same problem

Yes (I assume you mean if he's retired on medical grounds)

There's no way Liddle will be getting through the full 80 by next season.

I think Littlejohn or Rankin could develop nicely into the hooking role with the way Taylor has the 9's playing. Would save us some money and ease Liddle into playing 80 minutes. Really depends on Ballin I suppose.

Kurt Baptiste would be my pick of the off contract hookers or possibly Will Smith from Penrith who's a handy utility. I'd love to snare Connor Watson, but that won't happen since he moved to the halves and has been playing well.

If Taylor is going with a similar gameplan, what about Paul Carter? Could play in the back row if needed just like Halatau and is a solid defender. He's been his own worst enemy with his off field issues, if he could get it together then surely he would grab a final chance. He's a footballer, nothing flash. Can give away a few penalties, but he has talent.

No way to Paul Carter. He's got no discipline at all and plays like an overeager kid charging around all over the place with no regard for what the rest of his team is doing. If Taylor doesn't want Farah at DH he definitely doesn't want Carter.

Kurt Baptiste is a gun player overshadowed by Hodgson.

Anyone can play hooker, just ask the coach. Chris Lawrence can pass and run hard.

The obvious answer though is Rankin. What we need then will be a winger who kicks goals. Please.
