Tigers looking to sign Israel falou

Folau or Hunt would an AMAZING. I don't think we have ever signed a marquee player of their ilk (maybe Tuqiri?). Almost have to go back to Balmain / Wests days and even then we hardly ever acquired such talent off the player market. Thus, getting either of these blokes would be very significant to us ,not just as a football team but for what it means as a club. It would mean that we are for real. Do it Tigers. What the hell, get em both!

I think the fact he only gets to touch the ball a few times in union could actually play on his mind. I'm sure the lure of the bledisloe and the world cup is big, but he doesn't get to touch the ball nearly enough for him to showcase his skills in union.

League will always be a chance. See Lote's warning yesterday. Eventually all the league boys got sick of getting a cold and watching the ball fly up and down the pitch.

Can we fix up the spelling of his surname please ??

Its driving me mad

He won't come back , League sides can't possibly match the Rugby offers and even if they could ,who is going to pay that much for a winger

Not the Tigers I hope

Surely he would come back to play fullback for the money he would be demanding and the skillset that he has

So we do sign Folau at fullback . We have Tedesco already (and I'm in no way trying to compare the two ) but money and talent wise is Folau worth 4 times as much as Tedesco and how many talented juniors would be have to get rid of to sign Folau ??

Wasn't suggesting we should buy him, just saying whoever did would most likely play him at fullback.

It's a moot discussion…...but the question of "is Folau worth 4 times as much" is also a really silly question.
Not having a go at you happy, as I often find myself asking the same kind of questions but it is an unfair way of calculating value and an unreasonable method of deciding as to how we should act in the player market.
For example: is Inglis worth 4 times as much as Tedesco? What about Slater? Wouldn't he be at least worth 5 times? How many times better is Josh Hoffman? And should this translate directly into wages? I mean it's impossible to work out!

And as for your other question; would I put juniors on the back-burner in order to get Folau? Obviously! Is this even a question? Surely only a complete nincompoop would reject a world-class player in the prime of his career in favour of an untried teenager.

Once again, this is probably all moot. But this is the off-season..... isn't it?

Big Izzy is as much about the hype he would generate off the field as on the field.Mayer knows after our 2013 season we need to generate excitement to attract members and commercial partners. He is a quality player although Iam not sure if he is the type of player we need

The question is and will always be

To spend that much on one player he must then turn the club into a premiership contender

He wouldn't do that at the Tigers

Incredible player but he wont be coming here. Not sure he is right for the culture in any event. We need to rebuild the culture of the playing group and a player who goes on an end of year trip with the Parramatta Eels instead of the GWS, the team he was playing for, is not one we need right now.

Normally I dont care about such things but our culture is busted and needs repairing.

All the league players that came back were forced back or came home for none football related reasons.. With the exception of SBW.

Sailor had the drug ban.
Tuquiri and Rogers had their contracts not renewed.
Gasnier came back because his wife forced him, he could no longer handle the isolation of being in non english speaking country.
Gower came home for non footy related reasons.

Maybe some of the players prefer league, but it is a myth that all these players hate the game and comeback for that reason. Most guys I know that have played both, enjoy both

According to Sandra Sully on twitter…

CEO of @NRL_Bulldogs R. Castle says Israel Folau won't replace Barba ...he's due to sign with rugby "any day". Details #TenNews @AdamHawse

Buying Izzy for a million dollars would not win us premierships.

Taking that million and buying 2 world class forwards with the backs we already have would win us multiple premierships

I agree. We have enough pace and penetration in our backline already. Buy some big boys to pave the way for our backs and we're cooking with gas.
