Tigers players in 20's origin - 5.30 fox sports

Yeah Brooks played good but would have been nice to see him take the game by the neck a bit more.

Wonder if it was confidence or was Pay getting him to play second fiddle to Cornish, combined with being a 6.

Still, kicking game was pin point perfect and he didn't let the side down.
 
Cornish is older and more experienced than Brooks so I reckon Pay probably had Brooks play as an option. His class per touch if you will was higher than Cornish's but Cornish was pretty damn good himself. If he really was intentionally playing second fiddle, well he was awesome at it.

Our NYC player Cherrington is the same type of player as Lichaa and with a few more games under his belt we can expect same. With Brooks they were playing left /right with Cornish being more experienced calling more of the shots so not too worried. Brooks has played 6 games in NYC and Cornish a full season. At this stage Brooks strength is his kicking game and 80% of the time they went to him so somebody has faith.

He was only named once Tedesco received the call up to the city side, otherwise he would have been the Blues fullback. Santi was excellent and Brooks easily has the best kicking game at Wests Tigers. I have a feeling injuries will determine whether he gets a run in FG this year, but it's just a question of when, not if he plays FG.

Santi and Lovett will provide some handy backrow options next year also.
 
If I were Harry I'd have Brooks on the pine for the Broncos match. Moltzen/Sirro in the halves and Teddy at fullback. Play a Farahcentric match and have Moltzen in tight just for the experienced head who (touch wood) wouldn't be afraid to get his hands dirty. If the combo works well then leave them on there. It'd be a risk running a three man bench but the Tigers have done it many times and I think it'd be worth a gamble to give Brooks a taste.
 
Let brooks develop this year in nyc i think; prop him up to nrl trials next year then a couple games in nsw cup then straight into the halves i reckon. Needs time to develop his ability to dominate a game. Although he was likely told not be too involved as he was a late call up to 6 after sirro got into city.

Young guy, needs time to perfect his game and build confidence. Hope to see him in FG next year and preferably not before (but injuries happen so you never know).
 
The concept of blooding them is to give them a taste. While we have injuries, give him a taste. By no means do I mean draft him into the first grade side permanently. This is a normal thing.
 
Brooks was fantastic however it was obvious that Cornish was the dominant half, as said by others that was to be expected..plus he was captain. Still a bit off first grade IMO, no need to rush him.

Santi should have got MOTM for mine, it's easy to see why sheens was happy to let heighington go with this bloke coming through. I'd expect a handful of first grade games this year if he keeps it up.

Lovett didn't get much chances and was stationed in the middle of the field which wouldn't have suited him.

All in all good night for the tigers boys, they should all be very pleased with themselves.
 
Noticed that santi only ran 70m? I might be reading the stats wrong but i think thats right. He put up 30ish tackles though which is solid. Not sure if we really need him at NRL yet; we have some good second rowers and while replacing blair with santi would be a good replacement we could just as easily replace him with fults or bell with similar results.

Let him and brooks play it out in u20s this season; MAKE SURE they dont get away and they will get their turn next year when we make a run for the 4 and the title bar another injury ridden season. Let's not get too carried away peoples :slight_smile:

ARM is all run metres right? cause it has like single digit or numbers in the teens for all players under that. Klemmer with 17 (i assume they mean 170) and santi with 7 (probably 70)??

Well 1 line break suggests that it doesn't include his second line break and the thirty or forty metres he ran from that, his 1 on 1 steal and the last few tackles. So he cracked 100m and 30 tackles. Pretty darn good.
 
For me there was only one tiger who stood out tonight. Brendon Santi. His workrate was immense! Would've played min 40-50mins of the game. Of the 3, he'd be the one i'd say is most advanced and ready to step up. Luke Brooks had some quality moments and you can see he will be a special player, his short stocky build reminds me of Joey a little. Brooks though still looks a way off first grade. His time will come, it may even come this season but on the evidence so far, it would be later this season.

As for Kyle Lovett, I thought he was solid. Got good size for a guy his age but when Klemmer and Lodge were the ones to compare him with, well that makes it hard. Thought he did well though.
 
I've thought that about brooks aswell. He has the exact same build that johns did, he moves like him too. No wonder Joey said brooks reminds him of himself!
 
Brooks attack is class but he missed alot of tackles last night. Something about Santi just doesnt get me yet. Maybe a haircut will fix that.

I thought Tanginoa from the Eels was the best player on the field you could tell he had the most first grade experience out of all the players out there.
 
Brooks - needs more time, but has plenty of it to reach his potential. Very exciting to watch his kicking game!
Santi - Our Gallen for 10 years to come… Once we get over our love affair with Fulton, this kid will get his chance.
Lovett - Doesnt seemed to have grown this year and looked small next to some of the big men. Had little impact.
