The Wests Tigers squad is still stranded in Auckland as a result of the ash cloud from a volcano in Chile as officials attempt to secure return flights for players and officials.Tigers officials say the team is likely to schedule a training session in New Zealand today in preparation for Sunday's showdown with Melbourne.

Tigers skipper Robbie Farah flew to Sydney last night to join the NSW State of Origin camp as 19th man, while Warrior Jacob Lillyman has joined the Maroons as Queensland's 18th man.

I went over for the game. Lucky I booked with Emirates because they were the only airline flying out of Auckland on Monday to Sydney. We were on the same flight as Robbie, who got a last minute business class ticket!

Flights across the Tasman are staying at or below 20,000 feet. Normal altitude is 35,000-40,000 feet. Flying at 20,000, there's more air resistance, and hence, the plane needs to use more power, leading to higher fuel costs. Qantas obviously didn't think it was worth spending the extra quid.

"Wests Tigers can now advise that the NRL team and officials are currently in transit from Auckland. The team will arrive in Sydney late tonight." - from Cuzzo

WestsTigers NRL and 20's side have landed and will spend night in Brisbane after a not to pleasant flight.

They will fly to Sydney early tomorrow

Who is going to bear the cost of the inconvience, the club, the NRL or the airlines?.

Travel Insurance would cover any extra cost incur due to the ash cloud?
