Exactly. Obviously there is a clear point of difference between ticketed and non-ticketed members but by the same token there needs to be a clear distinction between non-ticketed members and non-members. People certainly don't pay the money for the merchandise.

We have not had 170 days to get the money for this membership together. This "package" as only come to the fray in the past week. Questioning someone else's passion for the Wests Tigers and Rugby League itself does not show much moral grounding from you.

And again questioning me is wrong? I wonder did you watch my highlight videos from the two trial matches? Yes…I took the time to travel to the grounds, film and edit for the enjoyment of those who 1\. couldn't afford to go and 2\. couldn't make it due to the Saturday night clashes.
 
Not one person on here has said what they would think if the shoe was on the other foot and they couldn't go and watch a game at some other teams suburban ground.
As it stands , in a play for more members, plenty of Tiger supporters ( and their families ) who would normally have gone but can't afford the money in one hit will now miss out.
Are we also so blind that we think someone who supports another team has less passion or is inferior to us?
Sure - look after the members but there should always be some seats kept for the general public AND some set aside for the other teams supporters ( in the case of a guaranteed sellout maybe available through their club)
Next thing all the matches will be on Foxtel only and we'll be telling people it's their bad luck if they cant afford it.
I'm all for having a big membership - but look at Souths numbers and ask youself if it equates to anything apart from bragging rights..
Rugby league has always been the game for the battler - a couple of people who have made ridiculous comments on here should hang their heads in shame.

That's not true. I suggested some tickets should be allocated to opposition members and others made similar comments earlier on.
 
I have to say when it comes to supporters i have one pet hate. Its with the ones who question the credentials of their fellow supporters. Wether its bagging them for being critical or in this case bagging them beacuse they don't have a membership package. Some people seem to think if you don't support the team the way they do then your not a real fan, or a 'fair weather' fan in this case. Frazer, just because you spent a couple hundred dollars on a membership package doesn't make you any more of a fan then someone who didn't. Money doesn't buy passion

Agree with you completely. Rugby League is a game which is enjoyed by everyone. And this everyone should be able to get a shot at tickets without the membership. Looks like now I will be forced to buy membership to ensure I can get in.
 
Nobody will need to buy a membership to get in.

Leichhardt Oval holds around 18,000 people. Wests Tigers currently have around 8000 ticketed members (please correct me if I'm wrong).

You do the math. Do you honestly think this game will be only available to members?

People are up in arms over nothing.
 
You know what, why don't we all try to be a bit 'wait and see' about this? As was pointed out several pages earlier, it seems pretty unlikely the club is going to find more than 10,000 takers for one-game memberships at $65 - at this stage I'd be prepared to make a small wager that they don't sell the ground out to members (either ticketed or one shot) and that in fact there are several thousand tickets left for general sale. You might have to act fast when they put them on sale, but there's not much can be done about that.

Agreed. Al I would try and raise this issue with Stephen Humphreys if you can. It doesn't make sense to me that a non-ticketed member not be treated the same as a ticketed member: both are members and should be treated equally.

It is honestly ridiculous if the club does not have a priority ticket purchase window for members.

Saw your comment about keeping some tickets aside Yoss but was also trying to make the point that if you reversed the situation and we were the visiting team everyone on here would be whining about having no access to see their team play.
If we continue to get big crowds to Leichhardt ( and it seems to be trending that way) they will have to look at ways to expand the capacity - imagine trying to get home after the game then!
 
The reverse situation is why I upgraded my Foxtel package to HD.

I only go to a select few away games these days as I made the choice to spend more time with friends and family and the TV access to the game is great

Not everyone can afford that Smeg - look around when you go to a game and you'll see plenty of strugglers who go without just for the thrill of getting to see their beloved Tigers.

Mainly the picture quality but also I have found a much better sound clarity, really helps hearing reff mics, player chatter etc
 
on available tickets: I was assured over the phone by Tigers staff that there will be general public tickets left. How many who knows but a fair few i'd say, even after ticketed members get their's.

On excluding other fans: one team towns miles away from other teams (eg brisbane and melbourne) have massively skewed fanbases purely because of geography, this is redressing the balance a bit. Other fans aren;t excluded but there are far fewer of them around so the effect is the same. NRL is the battlers game but it's also a tribal game so lets give our tribe every advantage we can! If we can somehow fill the stadium ourself (which won;t happen for some years) then good on us (although offering a token 500-1000 tickets to members of the other side is probably a good idea)

on abusing other fans for not buying the same membership type as you: don;t feed the troll
 
Not doubting that CK but if you are talking about reversing the ticket situation to away games I would hazard a guess you could get Fox basic with sports for less a fortnight than it would cost for someone to travel to, get into and eat or drink at a game
 
If this happened with some other club, I would like to think I would feel exactly the same way. Members of the home club should always get preference over the general public. Now, if the question was whether the game should be moved to a bigger venue, considering that only 4 games are played at Leichhardt each year, it is a bit too much to suggest it should be moved to the SFS or somewhere else. If we played 12 games at Leichhardt, I wouldn't mind too much if it was moved. Obviously finals matches are a totally different kettle of fish, and those games are controlled by the NRL anyway…
 
This was always going to happen at Leichhardt eventually. Back in 2004/05 (I think?) when playing Souths and the "full house" sign went up, a lot of fans were turned away at the gate. I freaked out a bit then, and not wanting this to happen to me, bought my first membership in 2006, for Leichhardt only games. I gradually increased this over the years to include all the home grounds.

Even if there are tickets on sale to the public, there is no guarantee you will get one. I feel bad for the out of town fans that were planning a big day out at Leichhardt, but, with the combination of round 1, Leichhardt and a Sunday afternoon, availability of tickets was always going to be an issue. That said, I hope you all get tickets and enjoy!

Can't afford a membership? There is always foxtel. Can't afford foxtel? You could watch it at a friends' place, or any pub or club for free!

Don't despair, it could be pouring rain all day, then who'll be the ones laughing? :wink:
 
It would be great to see the sold out sign up at Leichhardt Oval again. It went up once last year and it's a great atmosphere. However can't say the same for Campbelltown.
