Tigers set to shut doors to Leichhardt

Not doubting that CK but if you are talking about reversing the ticket situation to away games I would hazard a guess you could get Fox basic with sports for less a fortnight than it would cost for someone to travel to, get into and eat or drink at a game

You know some of my best memories as a kid was getting to other grounds on public transport with a few of my mates.
Decked out in Tiger gear ( mainly homemade in those days) you would invariably get good and bad (usually just jibes from opposing supporters) comments on your way.
You'd meet other supporters and join them on the journey as a Tiger family.
As a teenager and we got our licences we'd try to grab a few girls to join us and all pile into a few cars and head off to wherever we were playing.
Lockout games mean no other generation will be able to enjoy these simple things.
I am aware the game has expanded beyond Sydney and supporters can't travel the length of Australia but every team has a support base that begins at a young age who can't necessarily afford a supporters package -they deserve to be able to see their heroes live .
Similarly if your a pensioner and get to all the games by saving what little you may have then who are we to say bugger off - who cares if you have to travel for hours and bring your own food and drink.

Wow…I love this idea!

As a fully paid up member i am excited that on sunday week leichardt will be a tigers den again....

As an out of town member (Newcastle) I get the LO only package, because thats our home and thats where I want to see them play. I go to the occasional game (in the off chance they get a run in Newcastle) or with a mate for heritage round against Souths.
I think its a great initiatve. If you love the club that much you're already a member.
PS…. I hope LO never gets upgraded to a "stadium"....... There is deadset NOTHING better than standing on the hill amongst the like minded fans on game day. Sitting in neat rows at a stadium with some other dribblers bum in your face is not a great day out.

Don't despair, it could be **pouring rain all day**, then who'll be the ones laughing?

Oi… Take that back. Nothing worse than travelling 1000kms to sit in the rain! :imp:

Lol, yeah, ok. It's going to be a beautiful sunny day! :sunglasses:

I have purchased an out of towners membership for $110 which includes a general admission family pass to any WT home game.
Can someone please confirm I can usen this for this 1st game at Leichhardt?
I have another friend i want to bring..i was just going to buy him a seperate general admission ticket when they come on sale…is this still possible or do i have to buy him this $65 membership?

Hi all,
I have been hammered but that is ok with me,Yes perhaps I was on my high horse a little bit. I still stand the things I wrote. Please do not take them to heart as it is only my opinion and nothing personal.

I still believe that if it sells out to Members, be it One game Members or what ever Membership it is, bad luck to all other persons.

I do not care if it is all Wests tigers fans there and sharks fan miss out.

I do not care if certain people miss out because of their financial situation,I do not judge these people I just do not care that they have missed out for what ever reason.

I strongly believe THIS IS NOT THE CLUBS FAULT they have to do what is best for the Wests Tigers,IMO if they have upset a couple of thousand fans with this decision then I say that is collateral damage. The 18,000 Supporters will always renew their membership the whingers can all get on board with the Magpie Diehards in bagging the club and Mr Humpries.

I strongly believe Membership is the future of all clubs and we need to get on board or we will miss out.

I will always be getting the G/A 12 game membership because of the about reason.

Once again this is all just my opinion nothing more.

You know, that's a total overreaction. I was brought up in the UK where it's always been harder to get in to Premiership matches, yet one way or another my mates and I used to find a way. In the early 90s, in my mid-teens, I went to virtually every QPR home game (and we're talking 20+ league home games here, plus cups, from August to May) at what at the time would have been significantly more than the $25 that it costs to get to Tigers now. Lots of those games were sold out - we just applied for tickets early, clubbed together, worked part time jobs and all that stuff because going to games was our number one priority (well, maybe getting our hands on illicit booze and staring at girls would be up there).

I'm not going to cast aspersions at people here who have families, work commitments and all that stuff. Nor am I going to tell people who are doing it tough that they can somehow 'find' the money to go. But if we're talking about the real lifeblood of the fan base - young lads in their teens and 20s who are going to keep coming when the weather's crap and the team worse, and eventually bring their own sons - then having a few games that are a bit harder to get in to is not going to be a barrier. If anything they'll be more keen to get down when they know there will be a big crowd, good atmosphere and all that stuff. I know what kept me going to football when I was 15 and it wasn't a free foam hand or the fact that I could stroll up every week and pay my money on the gate.

I guess what I'm saying is that I think the game here has gone far, far too far down the road of trying to make sure anyone who wants to come can get in any time they want. I believe this fosters the idea that going to games is something you can easily ignore - after all, if you change your mind and decide to go you can just rock up whenever. As I say, when I was a teenager part of the whole deal was the excitement of getting a ticket in the post when we played United or Liverpool and knowing that I was going to go to something that other people wanted to but couldn't. Having a situation like that here - even once or twice a year, which is what we're talking about - surely can't be all bad. As I say, if you really can't get in there are still four SFS games et cetera et cetera.

No applying for tickets or getting them in the post when I was a kid 2041
I'm talking about going as a 10 year old to begin with (in 1966).
My problem with excluding the general public (including free to air TV) is you have the problem of becoming elitist.
I'm not saying don't keep the majority of tickets for members.
If you were anything like me as a kid then if you had to get there 6 hours before the game to make sure you got a ticket then you would have.
And people still will if they have to.

Well clearly you don't because you aren't in this situation. Stop being selfish for a moment and look at it from other peoples perspective. What if you are on a low income, have a family with a few kids and you all intend on going to the game. Membership for all of you would be through the roof, so you want to just buy tickets or a family pass. Most people would not be able to afford $65 for 3-5 or more people. What if you had been looking forward to this game for months and now realise you may not be able to go.

Thats the worst part of this, they are effectively turning away families.

In my opinion the order of preference in terms of ticket availability should be:
1\. Tigers ticketed members
2\. Tigers non-ticketed members
3\. Away team's members
4\. General public

Why do away team members get preference over general public?
They aren't helping our club at all haha , if your a member for tigers you dont get a deal for other clubs ?

_Posted using RoarFEED 2012_

Mainly the picture quality but also I have found a much better sound clarity, really helps hearing reff mics, player chatter etc

I don't have HD sport, but my Dad does - we both have decent TV's, and although the picture is perfectly fine on my screen, everytime I watch the football on his TV at his place I want to choke him out and steal the HD box…

It looks really, really good, and makes Channel 9's coverage look like it was filmed by chumps with vasoline covered lenses.

sometimes u have to make sacrifices in life, particularly when the family budget is tight. if you cant afford memberships (for wateva reason) that will ensure u n ur family get into leichhardt in round 1 on a sunny sunday arvo, unfortunately thats going to be a sacrifice u have to make. u can always take ur kids up to the leagues club and watch the game from there, and there will be opportunities throughout the year where the leichhardt games wont be sold out. all im saying is that for the good of the club, members need to have priority because membership is the way of the future.

i think the NRL needs to encourage membership by ensuring members of the away clubs get priority over the general public. there are too many league supporters out there that arent members. that's just my opinion.

Indeed. And, as I've said before, there are 12 other home games you likely won't have a problem getting in to.

When i first read the article i thought that its a bit crazy & locking out potential tigers fans that are not members would be harsh but the more i think about it,it is an excellent buisness ploy to boost membership & im sure there will be a few thousand tickets sold to the general public.

But i have a question. If we got to say 20,000 + members would that mean some members miss out on watching games at LO or does it mean LO no longer can hold the demand of a club moving forward??

I bought my membership last November, I chose the 4 game SFS/SCG deal.

Do I have to buy another membership to guarantee a seat….according to the club I do.

Humphreys said the $65 membership package was the only way fans could guarantee tickets to the match.

Did they forget about the 1000s like me that bought this or the CSG deal?

Yes - or maybe no but they don't care

I think a one….ONE match membership just cheapens the whole thing.

They do this crap all the time, offer memberships at semis time...chasing the dollar and forgetting the loyal fan

This stinks
