Tigers Style Of Footy

I know many are stressing about our games so far but I for one am not… Tigers generally start slow and pick up momentum... I don't believe we will ever be a Melbourne or manly in terms of consistency
It seems 75% of teams play grinding football now and I think if we were to play that style we couldn't match it with the best, it also becomes one dimensional(once teams figure you out you are stuck...dragons 2011)
On the other hand if we play creative footy and throw the ball around(tigerstyle) and we make oppositions play the game to us then at our best we are unstoppable (warriors are probably the only other team up there that can play this style consistently)

I'm sure that a lot of teams would fear the tigers playing attacking football at their peak over Melbourne playing grinding football at their peak

I totally agree! None of my family are fans of NRL so when i started watching it in 2005 I chose a team to follow that played an exciting brand of football that I enjoyed watching each week. Turned out they won the grandfinal that year!!

But if someone said back then that if you follow this team they will throw no look passes and will most often have to come from behind and run the hail mary all or nothing trick play to win the game, rather than being a grind it out consistent some what boring team, theres no doubt i would still follow the tigers.

Each year the highlights reel has some amazing tigers moments that other teams and fans would just love to experience and we get to!

Can't wait for Tigers to find their groove like they always do!

Totally agree!! Can't wait 2 c Lawrence hit form and that benji spark we know will come. Go boys, smash those raiders!!!

I think the tigers just have the right philosophy, As important as defence is the requirement to win a game is to score more points then the opposition

Good comments here. I couldn't agree more. We're three games into the season and the Tigers will eventually get into their rythm. If we have to win rough, scratch around and get a touch up for a few games then so be it. It's a reality check for the players. Like other years we had to win ugly sometimes to have at least a 40% success rate earlier in the season and then things start to happen. We find our feet and one win evrery three games becomes two out of three, and then that becomes 3-4 wins in a row and so on. I have no doubt and a stack of faith that we'll come good and be extremely competative for the bulk of the season. And of course we'll have a relapse at some stage and the knives will be out again, but a top 5 position is on the cards. Come September I have no doubt we'll be there and not only that, talked about as being the real deal. I love our style of football and wouldn't have it any other way. The roller coaster ride that is the heart attack Tigers.

For me it comes down to this, If you rather we played more like Melbourne??? I would Say yes.

Imagine if we had our weapons like Benji, Robbie, Lawrence etc attacking of the back of Storm like go forward and discipline.

We would be looking at defending our 4th premiership in a row this year.

Too true Spartan.

Pure speculation- but would Farah be the No. 1 hooker in the game if he'd played all his footy in Melbourne and Smith at WT?

I'd say yes, but regardless, he'd have a nice boat.

I ve loved how we have played the last 8 years or whatever. We have prob lost some games we may have won, but i love it. PLay football, show skills, that is what i want to see.

We only play this way because of 1 player. I'm not convinced this is the smartest thing in terms of a 26 round home and away competition. I enjoyed the Manly/St George game last night because it was fast, tough and displayed more Rugby League skill than the circus act we display from time to time.

When Benji is on he is a freak… But when he is not, we look average!

Which all comes back to the fact that we haven't had a decent halfback since 2005\. Lui was starting to get there but we definitely don;t want him bck.
Someone that says 'oh wait, 3 minutes to go in the GF qualifier, give me the ball, i'll kick it into touch near their goal line!'

I'm not saying we couldn't play grinding football … I'm saying if push came to shove our players couldn't match it with the storm at this game... Where they couldn't match skill flair and creativity with us
