Tigers Talking To Young Union Star Deegan

Dont follow union that much, but my point is that he's good so i wouldn't mind him with a small, short term contract at the holden cup tigers that's not preventing any true stars from coming, which is very rare, but he is not so amazing we should do everything in our power to make sure he plays for us.

Dont see why you think its such a massive risk to have him play for us. I'm sure lulia and taupau are risks too, they are not marked out as being amazing players and neither is deegan.

So far from the truth happy, as others have said he played for the AUS u18 team at 10\. He's a great talent, but he doesn't seem to have the markings of a cronk, joey johns or kurtley beale. I'm all for purchasing him at a reasonable price and seeing how he goes. What's the worst that could happen? if someone is better than him and we are about to purchase them we will do so, most NYC players would be worse than him in any case.

Players don't always have to dominate junior levels to dominate senior levels, and i'm willing to take a chance on him. And by 'take a chance' i mean pay him 10, 20 k on a 1 or 2 year contract in Holden Cup….. not a big risk at all.

Kurtley Beale is seriously junk I would prefer Cooper over Beale and I reckon Cooper is garbage

Genia is the only quality half we have

please stop talking about things you obviously know nothing about

Why's everyone complaining? People on here have said he's a good young player. Yes, he's unproven, but if he has talent why not sign him?

Even if he adds a bit of competition to the 20's/NSW Cup, surely that's a good thing. He would be coming on a very low cost contract.

Brooks will be in first grade next year, potentially Moses if he bulks up and will most likely be in and out of NSW Cup like Brooks was this year. So depth in the halves in the 20's is a positive move.

Perhaps if you guys want to talk about the Wallabies you can do so in a rugby union forum?

All of us are interested in this kid, and if we sign him how he would go in our holden cup side - hence some contractual rugby talk is ok, but talking about Wallabies selections is a bit too much rugby and off topic for my liking.

But hey, i'm not a mod.

The way the Wallabies have been going they will have to sign them from Kiwi land.

Certainly not Genia.

And in typical Col fashion doesn't give an opinion ,just bags everyone else's

To be honest none of our halves are up to it , but Genia at his best is our best by a country mile

Jeez that's impressive. Some of those guys must have been a lot bigger than him - I'm surprised him mum even let him play.

What have you got against this Happy? It's a talented Rugby kid that we'll sign on a NYC contract. Hardly a huge gamble…

You've been a cranky tiger of late

Pretty simple CB

I look at all our signings as gambles Richards , Lulia , Patterson ,Halatau , Austin and Taupau

Now we are looking at a Rugby Union schoolboy

I'm extremely unhappy at the direction our signings are heading and seeing in 2014 /2015 we will have a huge amount of money (around $1 million dollars) that will be able to be used to spend on potential signings

I am just concerned it will be wasted like the money used to sign the above players

The next 2-3 seasons will be critical to the clubs future with all the talent coming through and we need to get the mix right

So far in my opinion we have screwed it up

In reality any signing is a gamble, we found out first hand with Blair, O'Hara, Cayless. All players with proven track records elsewhere and they were sub par for us.

Fair call on the other signings, but giving a kid a developmental contract is hardly going to send us to the wall. Hopefully the club is towing Easts line and preparing to front load some contracts to make a big play.

Totally agree that any signing is a gamble , but these signings are even bigger than normal gambles

3 Blokes from the ESL retirement village ,one bloke who is a back to the future signing , and 2 blokes let go from their existing clubs

Our existing young guns are going to be our future no doubt , but if we can't get the right players around them to help develop them we will miss the boat

I'll put this another way

What other clubs in the NRL would be excited by these signings bar Parra ??

The NRL improves every year and we just seem to get left further and further behind , by the look of it , these were the only players in the player market that were interested in coming to the Tigers

That's a scary thought

I think Richards,Patterson,Lulia and Tapau are very astute signings, and not high cost ones at that, especially Patterson, who at 26 has plenty of footy left in him.

Like you happy Iam underwhelmed by our signings. I think they are what you would call solid signings, but will they make a big difference???. You can have all the great junior players in the world but if you dont surround them with high class players they will struggle to make it to the next level. In fairness to Mayer and Potter, they had their hands tied by the salary cap and when Benji decided to opt out and release valuable cap money, the quality player had been signed and we had to direct a lot of money towards our gun juniors who were on plenty of clubs radar.

Mid season 2014,when the silly season begins will give us a good indication what their intentions are re recruitment for 2015 and beyond.

One thing is for certain, precious little will change till we get a couple of more top shelve players. I Watched the Dragons game the other day and as well as we played,we are still light years away from the stuff the Chooks and Manly were producing at the end of the year
