TIGERS TARGET CENTRES AND BACK-ROWERS FOR 2016

I've given this a bit of thought Littletiger and I don't necessarily think that is the reason.

As you all know I am a massive Moses/Brooks fan - I don't think the halves aren't firing because the centres and back row are not the best.

Brooks and Siro combined pretty well last week and I think that will get stronger as they both combine more and get more confident. The other back rower spot is getting messed around a bit with a few changes happening and that unsettles the combinations and maybe why that side is taking a little longer to hit their straps.

I don't think the centres have been unleashed yet as such - it has been more defense and more defense which is good as it wins games. (not being critical here).
I think JT is just taking it week by week and giving a little more leeway each game.

Last week it was Teddy and Brooks - this week it will be something else that is added.
Maybe it will be Moses and the centre or Moses and the back rower etc.

I think it is just one step at a time - I am loving it, I think it is the right way to go.

yes good point

I'm was basing my comment based on games I watched of Moses in reserve grade last year And Moses was putting koro away consistently… But I think Moses had a free pass from potter and co to do whateva he wanted with the ball but I guess Moses did make a lot of mistakes last year in playing like that and he has a more overall controlled game this year. Not made that many mistakes.

That said I still think Moses would prefer a faster backline to put fast players like koro through holes he doesn't have that at the moment.

Heard a few rumours that we are in talks with Daniel Tupou, SKD, Beau Scott and Alex Glenn about 2 weeks ago.

This article backs up what i heard.

hope that one is true.

Littletiger - I agree he would like to have a faster backline but he can work without it. Remember the four tries that Keith Lulia scored in one game last year.
Most of that was Moses and Keith is not fast.

A lot depends on how fast the situation is summed up and the ball you get to put you into that space.
If you are in the space, the break has already been made - it is then up to the back rower or centre to draw / pass / FB chiming in or whatever to complete the movement.

I think with breaks like that it would the wingers who are found out rather than the inside men - having said that if it is executed correctly 8 times out of 10 you should score.

I'm sure we'll know more as the attack opens up in the coming weeks.

We have more players off contract this year than any club. Moltzen is off contract finally and he would be on a pretty good wicket. Most of the guys aren't big stars though unfortunately. Moltzen probably highest paid player off contract or maybe Tim Simona.

really? moltz and lawrence would easily have over half a million between em.

plenty of room for a near marque signing

I do think we need some real speedsters out wide.

Fonua is very underrated. Surprised he's been playing Queensland Cup this yr. Strong as an ox.

He has been quiet… Hoping he fires up today over Souths!

At Tap Dance Stadium /Park

Bit of a tap dance 52-0 the Mighty Tigers smashed the Black & White Budgies!

Fonua didnt play, so I'd say he is 18th man for Storm?

Nice win. Who played well for the Tigers?

Cameron Munster was dangerous all game, Shaun Nona was good, and Tony Butterfield was his usual busy from DH.

The club did, before his injury. And everyone was ecstatic

One player I wouldn't mind picking up who would come fairly cheap is David Williams. He is stuck playing fullback in NSW Cup for Manly, and from what I have seen in their game against us and heard from other games he is absolutely killing it. He could be the kind of player who benefits from a change of scenery. He could be handy for us, even if only for depth.

I got told Lawrence is On a heavily back dated contract which is $700k for this and next year.

Remember he was an australian rep and in the top 3 centers in the game when he signed a 5 year deal.

Plus he'll probably be shafted back to wing in cup if Trbojevich (however you spell it) gets put back down a grade. Now there's a handy player, although we're sorted for FB.

we wont be getting either of the trbojevics, i know their family are pretty strong manly supporters and manly will be able to pay solid money for them cause they are clearly a cut above, something their team will need with recent losses.

not sold on wolfman, but maybe

i know i know, im sure i was too…

but seriously poor timing contract wise regarding his injury.

4 years should be a max, any player no matter how good can get injured or simply drop in form and 5 years is just too much.

maybe 4 with a team option

Please don't encourage Watto with his Easts Tigers

I no doubt imagine that he hassles Willow and Kul daily to start a Easts Tigers discussion page :brick:

I am by no means a Lawrence fan but I think it is a slap in the face for the ceo to public state we have looked at our team and we need 2nd rowers and centres. Why couldn't he just say we are looking to strengthen some positions. We all would have known which ones without having to insult him. Team chemistry is a delicate issue sometimes.
