And now this.
What's the real agenda?
Apparently Benji gets told he's not in next years plans and then all these articles about the club being a basket case start rolling out.

Yeah, a lot of players in this squad are either overpaid or not up to it, but Maguire hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations either. Everyone was so excited thinking how much of an upgrade he was on the old coach. Yet look where the old coach is sitting.

Look at the players the old coach has at his disposal. You telling me Madge wouldn't fare better with that squad?
I think Todd Payten is showing what can be done with an average squad. Through adversity as well. Why we are sitting behind a club in that position on the ladder is a question that needs to be asked.
Madge has won a premiership. He made Souths the regular contenders they are now.
He knows what it takes to make a club successful.
Ivan is reaping the rewards of the junior pathways system that Penrith implemented under Gus and Griffin.
The Warriors are also unlike any other team. They are living away from home permanently (yeah, I know Melbourne is too now, but that wasn't the case to begin with.) They are in another country and playing for each other is all they have.

The big issue is who employed these two without doing their due diligence.

Since 2011 we have been screaming for a coach who will toughen our players, hold them accountable. Pick and drop players on form and not allow the players to rule the roost.
We get exactly that coach, one who has won premierships either side of the world and everyone goes to water. Its weak and pathetic.
People here [This word has been automatically removed] and moan about this club "accepting mediocrity" but when a coach turns up and demands effort and demands performance, its all too hard and nasty? And we should "blame management" for allowing it to happen?
Mediocrity would be caving or going to water because the coach is "too tough". Its pathetic and embarrassing and if the club doesnt back Madge 100% in deeds and words then we are condemned to this rubbish for another 10years.

However it was interesting reading people’s reaction to the story. Lots of emotion as fans and this is expected but in all reality for the players, this is their workplace. Now just imagine this is your workplace and your supervisor had everyone fearful of being sacked - it would be expected that there would be a complaint or escalation.
If this is true, the fact this was leaked (and my guess is a player)indicates a fair amount of disharmony with some players. If Madge has lost some of the playing group as this story implies then It has been my observation that as soon as the media note a “lost dressing room” then coaches start dusting off their CV.
I fear this will end badly - my guess is another media frenzy that will make us even a less desirable destination. An ugly player or coaching departure(s) that will be bypassed by the the caliber of player we need to turn things around.

You raise a good point about fearful of being sacked as its not a great culture and you don't really go into work wanting to improve the workplace.
I myself am a supporter of Madge but was left frustrated with his blow up this season when he kicked the chair as i thought it was unprofessional considering we were winning at half time in that game and went on to lose it.
Players do need a kick up the butt when not performing but lets not play up to the cameras and give the Media something to gossip about as it's fair to say as a club we always draw the short stick when it comes to them, how many feel good stories do the media portray with us, and then the ref decisions in some games just are as deplorable.
We all know Madge is a hard task master that's what the club needs now, someone that will change the culture, sign and develop players that want to play for the club as a team and also play for the coach understanding he is the boss.
However in saying this there should be no difference between the workplace and Club when it comes to performance.
In a workplace as long as handled the correct way its usually a three strikes and your out.
In the Club you have a contract that needs to be honored no matter what your performance is or if your injured.
If you perform not to the standards of the team you are dropped and if you continue to not make the cut your contract should be reviewed.
I think for all concerned the best approach is not to invite the Media in but it's hard to do that when players are continuing running to them.
Rule 1 - If you have a job in the Media prior to retirement you need to sign a confidentially agreement.
Rule 2 - If your a player that talks to the Media you are given a breach notice within your contract and asked to explain, this also means non selection next game.
Rule 3 - Player Managers anything discussed about the club is not to be given to the Media, If the source both player and Manager are issued with breach of contract notices.
Naturally under all these circumstances there should be confidentially contracts, we have lawyers that sponsor the club maybe they should start looking at this within our culture.
Agree we don't want a feeding frenzy with the Media look what has transpired with other clubs this season, Saints coach is a perfect example of this loves the club, players respect him but Media wanted a change and finally got it, have they done any better since NO.
