I'm going to disagree with a lot of the posts here and say that this is a red flag for the club.

The days of coaches ruling with fear and an iron fist ended about 20 years ago.

Coaching these days is as much about managing player egos and managing with a leadership group of senior players and coaching staff.

This isn't my opinion. This is the opinion of blokes like Bellamy, Bennett and Meninga.

It sounds like Madge has lost the group a bit, which from reports was what happened to him at Souths. You'd think if he had a solid leadership group, it would have identified this problem before it reached the stand-off stage.....

The body language of the guys over the past month reminded me a bit of the dark days of JT before he was cut loose. Really not playing for the coach.

i don't profess to have a solution. Like everyone, I'm embarrassed at some of the efforts from the team. But at the same time, we're very unlikely to attract good enough talent to have a significantly improved roster for 2021.

Unfortunately we have no leaders. There’s a reason madge has signed guys he thinks have good leadership qualities. We lack it amongst our senior players who have always been out for themselves in the grand scheme of things

Some fair comments, but at those other clubs and teams that you mention, the players have a very clear mantra when they enter. This is your expectation of us, and we expect this of you.

WT need to change that moping, whining culture. If you deliver on the field, you will not be dumped from the team. A good example is Luciano. He hasn't been dumped, but I bet it was made clear you perform or get out. He performed. There are at least half a dozen players that are lucky because of depth issues and they have survived. Consistency is important.

I think if players understood they had responsibilities, and lived up to them CONSISTENTLY, then Madge's style is more than fine. He isn't an idiot, he has been successful, including taking Souths to a premiership. Souths have not been successful since he left. Accident or just coincidence.

The Roosters coach seems to be understanding and respectful to the teams personal desires when he is interviewed, and he has that luxury because his team delivers for him. Madge doesn't have that luxury.

We had the Tim Sheens (later years), the Mick Potters, Ivan Clearys, even Andrew Webster. All sympathetic type coaches to an extent. They have failed because there was no groundwork on the consistency and expectation.

New blood won us a premiership in 2005.
We were also competitive there for a few seasons after that.
Let's stick with the coach and back him rather than the senior players that are all about there ego's.
Time for the club to come out and upgrade Madge's contract for another 2 seasons.
2021 think we will still struggle but 2022 with a clean out should be thinking about playing finals.

I myself am a supporter of Madge but was left frustrated with his blow up this season when he kicked the chair as i thought it was unprofessional considering we were winning at half time in that game and went on to lose it.

I've seen bigger blow-ups at daycare.

Come back to me when Madge spits on the perspex of the coaches box or tears a door off its hinges!

So if the players arent happy with the coach and then play with a new coach, suddenly they perform brilliantly....
TANKING Id say...get rid of the non performing whingers...

As the great Tim Sheens once said....

PLAYERS GET RID OF COACHES......it appears this has raised its ugly head again within our club,or very near to it...

Jrey & packer leading the chorus

My money is on Brooks in the background - far more destructive.

Well all i am saying don't give the Media something to talk about at half time we all know that they are not on our side.

Reynolds, Packer, Mbye, Benji and Brooks would be my guess.

A couple of things:

(1) There was no Pooper warning, please remember the regulations.

(2) Looks like 95% of fans are united that we back the coach, and it's not so common to have unity amongst fans, so at least that's a good thing.

(3) Players SHOULD be walking on eggshells fearing the outcome of repeat poor performances. The opposite is complacency.

(4) There hasn't been a single player unduly dropped in 2020. They've all had plenty of opportunity and the coach has always stuck strong for a decent period.

(5) The team lacks toughness, that's our primary issue. There is some talent, there is effort, but we lack toughness in those difficult moments, particularly season 2020 where the rules have changed (literally) and COVID has affected everyone's preparation. So many teams in 2020 are fragile, but it's not something we should be excusing.

(6) Where a team lacks toughness, you bring in a tough coach. I don't care about "losing dressing room" or "lack of delicate man management" if the toughness is missing, first and foremost. Talk to me about improved player management when they are tough first.

(7) Broncos are a prime example of a team full of talent, playing like busteds and lacking the mental toughness to do anything about it. Seibold is a snowflake and the roster has responded by failing to do any hard work. That is not the direction Tigers need to go, and we are on a knife's edge right now of getting better or far worse.

(8) This is a rare opportunity to do the opposite of Tigers 2012-2019 - back the coach, work out a new single-stadium deal and double-down on culture development, player strength and conditioning, junior investment. Identify the trouble-makers and weak-minded and put them on the sidelines.

Wake up people it happened at Souths and it's happening here. Maguire doesn't have Crowe and Hartigan doesn't have Politis to do their recruitment.
The big issue is who employed these two without doing their due diligence.

Since 2011 we have been screaming for a coach who will toughen our players, hold them accountable. Pick and drop players on form and not allow the players to rule the roost.

We get exactly that coach, one who has won premierships either side of the world and everyone goes to water. Its weak and pathetic.

People here [This word has been automatically removed] and moan about this club "accepting mediocrity" but when a coach turns up and demands effort and demands performance, its all too hard and nasty? And we should "blame management" for allowing it to happen?

Mediocrity would be caving or going to water because the coach is "too tough". Its pathetic and embarrassing and if the club doesnt back Madge 100% in deeds and words then we are condemned to this rubbish for another 10years.

The issue isn't the tough training it's his lack of man management skills.
Not 1 player has come here to be coached by Maguire, they've been unwanted or are fringe players wanting more

AD came here to be coached by Madge - who did AJ think he was going to be coached by, same for Blore.

That is three, think that trumps your not one.

Leilua brothers? Douiehi? Blore?

Hahahaha you just proved my point.

None of those three were unwanted or didnt have options.

Ummmm Joey not wanted by Raiders.
Luciano was a fringe player at Dragons.
Douehi was playing in and out and all over the place. Jack of all trades master of none.
Blore young and fringe player but has plenty of potential and looked for an opportunity here.

Joey squeezed out of Raiders due to salary cap, Ricky made that clear, he had other options.

Douiehi was playing in the semifinals at Souffs, only let go because of their Latrell mindsnap. Definitely had other options (including Roosters).

Luciano, I am unaware of whether he had other options or not.

Im not making the case that the just came here because of Maguire. We are perennial also rans and OF COURSE all three came here probably because more money or options than offered elsewhere, but all three came knowing Maguire was coach and all three knew the supposed reputation of Maguire and they came here knowingly.

They came knowing he was coach. Would they have come if Taylor was still coach? We will never know but I doubt it.

Media schmedia. There's enough to talk about with the insipid on-field performances.

You are entitled to your opinion but I feel the sensitivity to things like an isolated chair backheel - and let's be frank he barely got hold of the thing - is exactly part of the problem. Ignore the media, ignore the outsiders comments, focus on your football, play the kind of tough football that makes your coach, club and fans proud, not incite people into chair-kicking and throwing phones at TVs.

I keep reading that on here but if you listen to the "Beyond the 80" podcast, Dan (Wests media guy) has loads of reporters on from a range of sources as guest hosts and seems to have a good working relationship with them all.

There will always be muppets like Buzz / Kent etc.. but I think in general the club has stepped up in that area. In saying that, win games and the story's will change.

Yep definitely..........

Of course I have zero idea, just making the point that everyone is going to speculate based on their bias. The Brooks haters will say its Brooks, Packer haters will say its Packer and intelligent people who truly understand Rugba leeg and psychology will know that it is in fact JR. Probably a couple will even speculate that its Jennings.

I think it's a bunch of our senior players. If it was just one it could be easily shut down. Harder when it's multiple.
