Let me begin by saying that I am as disappointed and frustrated as anyone with another season of failure.

However it was interesting reading people’s reaction to the story. Lots of emotion as fans and this is expected but in all reality for the players, this is their workplace. Now just imagine this is your workplace and your supervisor had everyone fearful of being sacked - it would be expected that there would be a complaint or escalation.

If this is true, the fact this was leaked (and my guess is a player)indicates a fair amount of disharmony with some players. If Madge has lost some of the playing group as this story implies then It has been my observation that as soon as the media note a “lost dressing room” then coaches start dusting off their CV.

I fear this will end badly - my guess is another media frenzy that will make us even a less desirable destination. An ugly player or coaching departure(s) that will be bypassed by the the caliber of player we need to turn things around.

And to top it all off Matterson will think he is vindicated!

I could be wrong here, but isn't being dropped part of taking responsibility poor performances or should I say being forced to take responsibility for your standard of performances. To the best of my knowledge Madge hasn't dropped players for a single bad game, but a pattern of performance issues over several games.
It's true Madge might have to adjust his approach, but i don't want to see a reduction in his commitment or passion. I'm a big fan of Melbourne's honesty sessions straight after the game. In a professional manner players are asked to asses their performance honestly, where they succeeded, where they failed, where they can improve and what they need to do to get right for the team. The rest of the team also provides input if needed. All honest, no BS, all focused on development for the good of the team.

In all honesty, if it comes down to madge or the players, is there a player in the team who we would be devastated to lose? I can't think of one......

Communication is fine in the dressing room which suggests Maguire has created an atmosphere conducive to open and frank discussion. I view this as a positive.

But the discussions should remain confidential. If they don't parties may be hesitant to bring forward their concerns in the future.

Most importantly, confidentiality between parties is to me a demonstration of unity, teamwork and respect. It is a bond between coach and players. If someone has broken that bond by speaking to a third party, I would find that breach to be reprehensible.

After a long and frustrating season, players wanting to air their grievances is to be expected. Their concerns should be listened and considered. But all parties should have an expectation of privacy.

The timing is curious.

Worst part is we are trying to sign JAC and Staines at the moment and this hurts our chances. Hopefully Madge is in direct contact with the players telling them what’s really happening

I’m presuming Benji has leaked this stuff. He has heaps of friends in the media. Whenever any network show footage of us losing, they’ll never fault Benjis performance. His defence vs Roosters was horrible, but Cronk and Ennis, and on 9 the next day, Fittler and Johns, hammered the whole sides defence. They don’t mind singling out Darius but Benji is immune from any criticism

This kind of garbage spells disaster for our recruitment
Anyone who reads this stuff will stay well clear of our club
If we were in with a chance of Josh Addo-Carr then I think that opportunity may have just disappeared
And so our mediocrity goes on
I would not be at all surprised if we are in a one horse race for the wooden spoon next year
We need new faces at our club to get rid of the rott
We should be seen as a club that is willing to give opportunity and game time to the best youth available
Think of it as a long term plan
Because nothing will be fixed in the short term

From my experience, the trouble probably centers on a relative few disgruntled employees. If Maguire doesn't know already who is at the core of the drama, it shouldn't take him long to work it out. The person(s) should be moved on immediately. Basically, if you're not happy playing here we expect that you will find yourself a contract at another club ASAP.

They’ll be in for a rude shock when they realise most clubs will only pay them a small fraction of their current contracts.

In this day and age the players are all connected via social media. The bush telegraph will have spread the different versions of events already. I think whether or not JAC or Staines use this as a basis for their decision will depend more on who is mates with who.

9 years of rubbish and the minute we get a coach who expects quality and the players are up in arms and complaining. Loser club!

The club better stand behind Madge here

I thi nk the club will implode if they sack another coach

Most anticipated Team List Tuesday for a Decade..

The players not chosen might identify who are the sooks

To be fair, Madge was given a roster that was not his, and bought by Ivan to have immediate success, and paying overs for players. But to be fair to a player like Brooks, that did win Halfback of the year in 2018, and his defence has improved dramatically. There was a press conference when he was resigned and Madge saying he has worked with plenty of halfbacks and looks forward to Luke improving, well that has not happened and questions need to be asked why. Players to need to be dropped on performance, but then you take somebody like MBye and his game has been terrible all year, and doesn't get dropped, why ? Because he is Captain ? Some things are not adding up. But that's my opinion.

Alot will depend on the character of the players and the involvement of their managers.
If the players want Maguire out and their is a link between players we want and players at the club with the same managers then, the club has a problem.
The days of just backing the coach and the players having to toe the line are long gone. If there are enough contracted players determined to not co- operate with Maguire and managers steer players away from the club, then we are treading water.
The modern players appear to be more loyal to each other than the clubs they play for, - we see that every week after matches - and managers feed off that when dealing with clubs. It has become the biggest blight on the game but not sure how it can be fixed.

The old "he's lost the dressing room" article.

We've backed the playing group through four coaches. How about we try something different this time?

I wonder which players/managers got into contact with Hooper to start this dribble. Clearly someone who’s on the way out isn’t happy or someone who is worried about losing their spot.

Hopefully the club can show some balls like Madge has

There is enough blame to go around. Yeah, a lot of players in this squad are either overpaid or not up to it, but Maguire hasn’t exactly lived up to expectations either. Everyone was so excited thinking how much of an upgrade he was on the old coach. Yet look where the old coach is sitting.

The fans will only back Maguire so long, if we are losing even if in principle we know he is right. A massive dilemma for the club.
