I really have to tell some of you guys and girls just a little history about moneys paid to players.....here goes and it was when I played so we can put it in perspective....
I got ..$10 a win in reserve grade, nothing for a draw or loss..
I got $50 a win in first grade, nothing for a draw or loss..

Back then in the 80s ....
A schooner was worth 90 cents...
A pack of Winfield was $1.15...
A litre of petrol was 34cents...

So when it came to end of year payments if I won 6 games in res and 1 game in firsts I got a grand total of $110.00 for the season..

If I took a chick out for a Chinese dinner which included meals and drinks it was about $35.00...

And these blokes complain because if they win, lose draw or get dropped or injured they still get their pay cheque...

a generation of entitled soft wannabees that deserve a good kick in the arse or moved on....

I still had to work as well as train and get myself to the games such as if we played at Cootamundra I had to play A grade touch footy at 8,30 in the morning,go home get changed and pick my mate up and get to Coota 1 hour before kick off...

OK .... so in my mind what happened yesterday was not unexpected.
According to reports Madge initiated the meeting ..... so no surprise.
His aim would have been to get a straight talking reaction from the playing group ..... which is his direct way of doing things so no surprise there.
He got his answer with one player using “walking on eggshells” scenario..... no surprise there and my guess it would come from 1/2 or 5/8 area of our roster as that’s been area most affected..... so no surprise again.
To that point all reasonable stuff really but then the leak, the media and their fantasy writers are let loose.
And what I read on here from some people is same old same old ..... get rid of the coach, get rid of the players, the administration sucks!
Really?
If people think that this years roster would bring us even a moderate level of success in getting to the finals are just dreaming.
And same goes for next year. Moderate improvement as some young gun purchases gain NRL skills and experience.
Get real what Madge is missing ..... Are key ingredients for a successful finals team structure ..... good on field leader, a high % goal kicker, fullback, speed in wing 3/4 line, smart half’s combination and a go forward pack to support them. Not much huh?

I can spot on speculate:

Jrey & packer leading the chorus

My money is on Brooks in the background - far more destructive.

My money and the whispers I am hearing is it is that player that I like least and wish wasnt in the team

Does it rhyme with Shosh Deynolds?

Yep definitely..........

Of course I have zero idea, just making the point that everyone is going to speculate based on their bias. The Brooks haters will say its Brooks, Packer haters will say its Packer and intelligent people who truly understand Rugba leeg and psychology will know that it is in fact JR. Probably a couple will even speculate that its Jennings.

Well It's not the guys who make a lot of errors

I think it might be that guy who drops the ball a lot and misses a lot of tackles.

but if they are scared to make mistakes cause they get dropped as Pooper says ..I would think it's the one's that don't drop the ball a lot and make errors cause they are safe..

I dunno..

I have an equation we should all try and remember

Score more points .....Concede less points = win football games ...no one gets dropped

I know it isn't MC squared ...but I think it may work anyway

Some run harder and tackle harder than the other blokes wouldn't go astray either..

Those players should speak to the Industrial WH@S officer ..maybe strike

Well if the players had the same passion as the forum members we would certainly be a Top 8 side.

All we ask for is some pride in the Jersey and when things are tough show some resolve like us.

Lets work on our defense in the last 10 minutes of the 1st half and show some resolve that seems to be the common trend we match the better sides for 30 minutes then fall apart most weeks.

A huge change in culture and accountability was always going to met with resistance. Things will get better.

My money is on Marshall.

Whichever player leaked the story to the press should be dropped and not play First Grade again at WT. No room for compromise there. If a player is going to attempt to sabotage the team, show them the door.

So Kent had Brooks telling Madge he doesn't like the way he coaches so Madge said try it my way..but know Pooper has Brooks in the background too scared to say anything..

OK

The silent coachslayer - 4 down and counting !
I don't know who is behind it but you would have your Brooks blinkers on if you disregarded him as not being somehow involved. If there is one player who looks like he is playing on eggshells it's him.

That sure is some resilience..

Start winning and this goes away. Last year Penrith finished 10th and had a disgusting sex tape scandal. Today they're being compared to Man United (and if Maguire gets criticised for kicking a chair imagine if Ivan threw a shoe).

No surprises that as Benji is set to be told he doesn't get a new contract and Brooks starts receiving consistent criticism in the media that this boils over.

Credit to Maguire for insisting upon change. He must be getting somewhere because this sort of disruption is quite common along the way towards meaningful change.

It will be interesting to see who champions Maguire out of this. Aloiai, Nof and Luc have been the big improvers under his regime.

He has backed himself into a corner though. If he doesn't want the players and the club wants to move them on, but, they're not comfortable playing for him and in doing so it drops their value, no wonder they're unhappy. More losing like this next year and he will have a lot to answer for, with no excuses in 2022.

Marshall with Mybe as well and maybe packer and reynolds, could not see Brooks having the balls to confront Madge.

Well hopefully you invested the rest of your season payments on the Dapto Dogs and a dog that took a big crap before running. Its always the friend that is Hot and knows it....

You summed it up to perfection

The trouble with the whinging sooks who undermine the coach and leak to the media (I'm not going to speculate who) is their attitude ends up infecting the whole team.

A guy like Lucy comes and joins us, with a really positive attitude, gets along with everyone, trains the house down, puts in on the field, is so positive about the future here that he encourages his brother to join the team as well.

And then how must he feel when he realises he's surrounded by bludgers who moan about how terrible it is that they get dropped after playing like a drunken 5 year old with chronic back pain.

Not only do the bludging whingers play poorly themselves, but they can also dampen the enthusiasm of the good guys like Lucy.
