You worry about kids like Simpkin and Madden coming into a side with no leaders.

Simpkin is a leader.

Not sure about madden.

Wonder how Harry is enjoying his WestsTigers experience?

Cut to storm sheds in preseason next year and they’re all rolling around laughing as Harry says ‘and then the captain said we were all tired...bahahaha’

Post of the day 🏆
😂

Even if this did happen, it should have not left the dressing shed. The motivation is pretty clear, either to destabilise the Club or, to portray the players in a bad light Which is it?

This story is not in the Club's interests or players' interest to be made public. This is really poor.

We have to break this culture of accepting mediocrity and entitlement without accountability. When we can’t rely on our team to rise to the occasion when it counts, I’ll back Madge to make the changes needed to achieve the vision.

It’s a pretty wild story to just completely make up - Hooper is giving too much detail, telling it like a story. It obviously stems from somewhere. And it sounds like the club may have another leak.. The part I find hard to believe though is that ALL players were of the same opinion. Surely this part is embellished. I’d say the only players with an issue are the useless nuffies who don’t do anything for the club.

I wish a few of them would walk on broken glass and rusty nails... barefoot. Maybe we could get some medical retirements.

They must all have the talent and they've all made sacrifices to make grade. Whoever leads this group's mentality needs to go. You have a 10-12 year window in your career and generally mediocrity that means regrets until you die.

The answer is simple for the players surely. Play well and your position is secure. Play badly and you can look elsewhere. This mentality is in every successful workplace.

other clubs have talented juniors that comes in and show the non performers hows it done. this club have none so the non performers says to the coach you can't touch us. madge need to invest in some juniors from now on. even if we dont win just try out a newbie every week.

So the clubs coping a lot of deserved scrutiny at the moment. Two things it needs to do:

1. Keep Madge and back him 100% (but quietly tell him the players are right and there was too much chopping and changing this year).
2. Keep Brooks until they get better halves.

It's all good to talk about moving him on, he hasn't made the finals etc and his form is absolutely rubbish at the moment, but we don't have anyone else and his form will turn when the team starts playing better. I know this comment will be unpopular but it would be silly to get rid of him and you'll all watch him go be a great player elsewhere and then lament the club getting rid of him, meanwhile we'll have kept both Reynolds and Mbye who will continue to do nothing. With better attacking structures he'll do fine here. We need a quality half next to him, and hopefully someone who can handle the majority of the short attacking kicking game, but he's still got everything you want in a decent half, and decent halves are hard to come by.

Could you imagine Melbourne Storm players saying that to Bellamy?

Me neither.

There's a big difference with Melbourne.

Bellamy has Cam Smith on the field as his walking, talking assistant coach.

We have Mbye...

We need a Captain that is going to buy in and deliver the game plan on the field like the coach wants. Leadership is lacking at our club.

I bet Harry Grant can't wait the leave this rubble and play finals in 2021.

3 finals series in 20 years really speaks volumes of the lack of a winning culture WT have.

When the going gets tough the weak turn on their coach.

Love to have performance based contracts.

The whole thing can most certainly be made up. Modern day journalism is all about the clicks and rarely are they ever held accountable.

It's very coordinated, every news publication is running their own version of events right now.

I'd put money on these so called sources being player agents rather than club insiders. Stirring the pot because the more players move, the bigger their bank accounts get

Well I recon that Hooper was fed the story by a third party and I would like for someone who was actually at this meeting to confirm what actually transpired. I very much doubt that all players were of same opinion.
If true however than we are all stuffed.

I have no doubts the story is true. It happens whenever the Tigers try to move players on each and every year. There was harmony under Cleary and the reason was players were being paid overs to be average without repercussion.

Hold people to account and the blow ups are inevitable. The culture is horrible it has to and will change.

“I think a couple of the players said: ‘Madge, it’s not working. The way we’re doing things is not working.’

“They all said: ‘We’re walking on eggshells. Everybody’s scared that if you put in one bad performance, you’ll be dropped.’

Well guys, I'll tell you what's not working, as a fan, as a supporter, what you've been doing hasn't been working for years............so maybe, try things Madge's way and see how that goes

It’s always gonna happen when the coach wants to clean up the place and move players on - they’re trying to make him look like the bad guy so they can save their own asses

Booting them is the only way to fix the loser culture and the fans and the club need to back the coach on this one

Problem is madge was hired because he said tigers had a top 8 roster while others said its a rebuild situation. I guess we are there now.... madge has to be under some pressure internally. Hope he survives...

The players are absolutely correct...and most should be walking on eggshells based on their performances.
But our few consistent players...Harry..Aloui...Nofa and LL...DONT get dropped because they perform
Even more reason to get Benji/Packer/Reynolds/Mbye..the so called "leadership"group..out of the joint asap.Theyre simply not setting any performance standards ...quite the opposite
And the can take Brooks with them too.not that he cld have "lead" anything anywhere tbh...
Last thought on the subject..players complain that they train too hard...but we get smashed in the last 20 mins in most matches...combination of fitmess and leadership IMO

How disappointing it is to follow WT. I agree with your sentiment that the senior players need to be shown the door regardless of their performances (Nof excluded). Any attributes they bring on the field are counteracted by the fact they are LOSERS.

This is exciting zoo. We get more talking points in 1 week than other clubs do in a season...

Enthralling stuff. Keeps the juices flowing. Keeps you on your toes. Never a dull day etc.

Support the jersey, not the players. The nuffies and plodders come and go but the one constant is the club. We can't let the players drag us down to their level.

I’d rather tank with young players and kill this issue once and for all. We need to start a rebuild I can’t see a few changes here and there working as this attitude is throughout the team and inevitably being driven by senior players.
