The players are absolutely correct...and most should be walking on eggshells based on their performances.
But our few consistent players...Harry..Aloui...Nofa and LL...DONT get dropped because they perform
Even more reason to get Benji/Packer/Reynolds/Mbye..the so called "leadership"group..out of the joint asap.Theyre simply not setting any performance standards ...quite the opposite
And the can take Brooks with them too.not that he cld have "lead" anything anywhere tbh...
Last thought on the subject..players complain that they train too hard...but we get smashed in the last 20 mins in most matches...combination of fitmess and leadership IMO

How disappointing it is to follow WT. I agree with your sentiment that the senior players need to be shown the door regardless of their performances (Nof excluded). Any attributes they bring on the field are counteracted by the fact they are LOSERS.

This is exciting zoo. We get more talking points in 1 week than other clubs do in a season...

Enthralling stuff. Keeps the juices flowing. Keeps you on your toes. Never a dull day etc.

Support the jersey, not the players. The nuffies and plodders come and go but the one constant is the club. We can't let the players drag us down to their level.

I need a week off work to keep up with the posts ?

“Wests tigers fans tell players they are tired of not playing finals”

Touché

If this so called meeting is correct, the next four weeks will be interesting. I just want to see the players put in like they were before the Warriors and Newcastle debacles. Yes - they could be overpriced players with a lack of talent, but for a long time this year I saw players putting in - especially in defence - first Penrith game, Canberra, Parra, Broncos games are evidence of this. Something changed following the Warriors and Newcastle games. If this meeting did happen and there was open and honest communication, it might just spark something over the next four weeks. We'll see by the amount of effort the players put in.

Problem is madge was hired because he said tigers had a top 8 roster while others said its a rebuild situation. I guess we are there now.... madge has to be under some pressure internally. Hope he survives...

Public words versus private plans are two different things.

Tigers tell Michael Maguire they’re ‘walking on eggshells’ in ‘really heated’ meeting

Michael Maguire’s tendency to chop and change his line-ups has his Wests Tigers players ‘walking on eggshells’, he was reportedly told by the playing squad today.

Fox League expert Michael Hooper revealed details of a players meeting in which the squad told Maguire his brutal axe-swinging approach is ‘not working’, with the 11th-place Tigers set to miss finals once again.

Hooper told NRL360: “Apparently there was a really heated team meeting at Concord today where Michael Maguire, the way he likes to do business was being very direct and blunt.

“I think a couple of the players said: ‘Madge, it’s not working. The way we’re doing things is not working.’

“He said: ‘what’s not working, what’s the issue?’

“They all said: ‘We’re walking on eggshells. Everybody’s scared that if you put in one bad performance, you’ll be dropped.’

“We’ve seen so many players axed of the course of the season.

“They ended up having words. Madge has gone around the whole side and they all said: ‘yes, I agree, that’s how I’m feeling’.

“As a result, I don’t know what the Tigers team will look tomorrow (when team lists are announced for the weekend). But I’m predicting – knowing how Madge has done business this year – he’ll probably make some more changes.”

The Tigers appear headed for a major roster rebuild in the off-season, with veteran Benji Marshall all-but-certain to be pushed out of the club.

And Hooper doubled down on his Tuesday claim that halfback Luke Brooks should follow him out the door.

He said: “The big one at the Tigers that is on the chopping block at the moment is Luke Brooks.

“He’s had seven seasons as the primary playmaker at that club. He’s played 145 NRL matches and he holds the record for the most number of games without finals experience.”

Brooks has struggled to create this season, posting 10 total try involvements from 14 games.

In contrast, Nathan Cleary, Shaun Johnson and Benji Marshall have 35, 32 and 23 respectively.

But Brooks is just one of many underwhelming figures at the club this season – and Paul Kent believes it’s symptomatic of a greater issue in the game.

Kent told NRL360: “Clubs aren’t putting enough into their own development. Some clubs I know have a handicap in that area, but they’re not spending enough on player development.

“Who is leading the comp this year? Penrith (who) have spent more money on developing players than any club in the NRL.

“How many of them are local juniors who have come through the grades?”

“(The) Tigers have had trouble for years with their salary cap, they’ve still got trouble. There’s not enough players being properly educated.”

After back to back losses, the Tigers face the Sea Eagles on Saturday.

With one eye firmly on 2021, Maguire could be chopping and changing his team once again.

You know your having a bad season when they change the wording from try assists to try involvements

Packer has 15 try involvements with his dummy runs

Blocker was on the Matty Johns podcast a couple of weeks talking about coming through the grades at Balmain.

He was talking about the early to mid eighties when the Tigers weren't great. The club invested in the Australian coach (Frank Stanton) who was a renowned hard-arse.

Frank cleaned out all of the old timers who were adequate but weren't world beaters and invested heavily in youth.

The investment paid off big-time in the late eighties. Hopefully history repeats....

It'd be great but it's a far different game ....Blocka and a few of his hard ass mates would play about 7 rds a year

What a pitiful excuse for a club we support!
Players refusing to have a go.. refusing to win at critical times.. what a bunch of sooks! Drop the whole bloody lot of them Madge. Except McIntyre, he has a go every game.

And Lucy.

Idk. He’s really gone missing the last few weeks.

Think buzz saying Lucy not a happy camper.

Don't tell me that! God, if we lost Lucy I'd throw in the towel, that's all I could take.
