Tigers vs Panthers

Penrith are handling their injuries because they can replace a injured player with a player who has played plenty of top grade. Last night BMM got his first run, he would be their fifth or sixth choice, with us we do not have that sort of choice.

Penrith are still way off the title but they have a great mix of youth and experience and will get better.

Penrith made the tough calls once Cleary was appointed. They came 2nd last in 2012 and have built steadily since. They really don't have a lot of big name players but players who play as a team.

Moylan will be a great player, he reads the game well, attacks the line hard and is destined for bigger things in the game.

No doubt the Panthers have dealt with injuries better then us. But the Panthers have better structures etc in place then we do and seem to be playing as one, the whole Panthers club seems to be on the same page playing as one, we are just destroying ourselves internally with all the crap going on plus injuries.

In saying that, look at our injuries compared to theirs. They have maintained the same spine throughout the year with Moylan, Soward and Segeyaro playing nearly every game all year. The injuries they have had eg interchange forwards and mainly starting forwards are a lot easier to replace then say a fullback, hooker and halfback. They also still have mainly the same wingers and centres.

Throughout this year look at our injuries, the whole entire back line from 1 to 6 is injured except Lawrence. We have also missed Farah and Brooks for extended periods. Any team in the comp missing there 1 to 6 would be lucky to be coming where we are.

So what I am saying is I don't think you can compare our injuries to the a Panthers etc due to what I explained. And before you say it I am not making excuses for our poor past month, the club is struggling to say the least.

Agree with you 100% MightyTiger, but what seems to be happening with our club is what others have mentioned, that we are very good in throwing in the towel! We just dont seem to have the mental toughness to compete consistently. Add our fractured board, no support for the coach and media attacks on our captain and we are where we are.
I do like how the Panthers got rid of all their divas and now the quality youngsters with some unwanted old heads are turning things around for the coach and the club. Maybe there is something to be learnt from this?

I like Lewis Brown. He's a machine. And Segeyaro. Can't believe the Cowboys didn't want him. Maybe they're a Tigers '05\. Is Whare another Whatuira? Can Soward shove it up all the doubters and baggers? Would love to see that.

They're a great team ! And with astute management and a smart coaching staff are putting in 100% every game, meaning they're at the top of the ladder. However, i think come finals time they will struggle to go up that extra gear to beat the better sides especially with so many injured players. No matter what happens from here though, their fans should be appreciative of their players effort and commitment this season.

The difference is they have Gus in charge at the top,.. Which means the club has stability, more sponsors and a no- nonsense is tolerated approach. The players seem to have bought in to the new culture too and it shows on and off the field. A great experienced coach in Ivan, then they have a very good playmaker with tons of experience in Jamie.

Gus is one of the heavy hitters in the NRL

When he speaks , people at the top listen

We need someone along those lines here

Maybe our boss needs to spend a week at one of the top clubs like Gus did when he flew up to the broncos and stayed the week going through all there structures and so forth :bulb:

Can I be honest ??

I don't think Gus (or any other CEO ) would want to see the Tigers well run

I don't think any CEO would want to see the Tigers making money ,Balmain and Wests being profitable , having a board that worked harmoniously together with the coach ,CEO and players and being basically injury free , and sponsors clambering over each other to throw TPA's willy nilly at all our players

We might become unstoppable with our abundance of junior talent

Scary thought isn't it (or maybe just an unreachable dream )

Well put. I don't think you can compare the injuries.
Plus the overall NRL experience of the squad is significantly greater.
And the added confidence that comes from having Gus on top, and a coach that's not under fire to compensate for the administration's inadequacies definitely shows.
