Weren't we making a play for some young Penrith prop? Maybe thats happening before 30 June?

Yep, Oliver Clark. You could be on the money here.

We don't need to make room for anyone. We already have about a million under the cap. Grant on around 400k at least so would free up an extra 150k in our cap for this season if he goes.

If you are saying we are about 1.2 million under the cap we have big issues

We are only allowed to be a certain amount under cap , 1.2 million would be way over that figure and we would be in breach of the salary cap

Might be a good idea to try get mbye on the books before June 30 then

A large chunk can be a rejig of existing contracts.

Yes the times i've seen him he wouldn't make our ISP side, ron massey at best - unless he's been injured and that's impacted his performance.

Surely he'd only be on 250-300k? Who knows.

We signed him as a marquee player of sorts. Was a high profile, recent Origin player. And signed on a 3-4 year deal on decent money.

There's a reason he took up his option at the end of last year. He was on good money and didn't want to walk away from it until he had his next long term contract sorted. We weren't exactly in the position to recruit quality players like him unless we paid him what were then market rates - albeit with Souths/Panthers chipping in for him for the first season or two.

Would Kaide Ellis be a better player to look at??

I understand he is a done deal from next year for 2 seasons (but not sure if NRL or other contract) with discussions to get him here before 30 June

The story about Woods wanting to return to the tigers under Ivan was in a column in The Daily Telegraph today.

No quotes in the article. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true though.

WOODS AIN’T NO KNIGHT
AARON Woods has ruled out any chance of going to Newcastle, which was hyped about on the NRL grapevine this week.

Woods prefers a return to Leichhardt with Ivan Cleary’s Tigers now the Bulldogs are quietly shopping him around in a bid to alleviate their salary cap problems.

Parramatta, keen to get some height up front, has also loomed as a possibility.

Interesting, would love to know what’s on going behind the scenes.
