Tim Johannssen #291

Solid, not great but he does look the type in terms of build. He’s hasn’t played a lot of NSW Cup i dont think so hopefully he keeps developing with more experience.

It will be interesting to see where he can get his body to. He is yet to have an NRL preseason with all the training and science that goes with it. At 22, I reckon he will come back next year really strongly built.

Showed hunger, was alert and demonstrated he is a forward from the outset. Key things I saw were all positive

1) his backup off his run when TDS darted and smarts to pass the ball on the 5th instead of running it

2) his cover defense when Cowboys player broke through Porter, he put pressure forcing a bad pass that Staines intercepted (Bateman/Stefano/Papa = try)

3) put on a hit and roll tackle

4) on the line 1 tackle he passed short on the chest next play he hit up under the sticks quick play the ball.

The kid needs meat on the bone but he showed more than most of the other kids & should be in the 17 every week for the rest of the season.

Good post.

The thing that grabbed me when watching him in NSW cup was how switched on he was and you mentioned that, he certainly is alert. I love that in a forward because you know what you'll get from them every week.

Also, as you mention, he has skill and smarts. He deadset screams lock for me.

Massive preseason coming up for him.

Discovered another gem eh...
Fantastic.

People saying he's a lock, works well for the team as we need a 13.

Kid has the physical attributes to become a genuine first grade 13. I hope the coaching staff explore this further.

Would allow Pole to move to his natural position of front row.

Yep the right diet from the club nutritionist & intensive gym program in the off & pre-season will be the making for him at 22/23.

I often look at time they have to react an urgency a player has when they make their debut. He looked like he has time & was absolutely hungry without over playing.

Most of the kids we have brought in haven’t had it which is why they get caught out defensively or make simple errors. He 100% showed more in that game than several other kids have shown in multiple games they have played at NRL level this season.

Not saying he is awesome & will be a NRL mainstay at this stage but he has shown something some of the other kids haven’t = we at least have something to work with/develop.

Another one that needs to hit the gym room this off season, but showed promise will not miss
Stefano.
Really??? Looked a real specimen live, to me. From the KB Stand you could see TJ standing side-by-side with guys like IP and Klemmer and he has a pretty lean and powerful body shape, and seemed to use decent power in his carries and defence.

Solid outing for the guy enjoyed his post game speech.
rugby league is full of great stories, Tim & Noah's included

I’ve not seen him either (yet)
But cmon ole mate - you’re here enough…

In the ressies reports most folks here are saying he’s been the only one that deserves a shot for a while now…
Apologies. First time I've heard of him. More evidence im not the sharpest tool in the shed. How did he go anyway?

Tucker has Galvin at 13. Cant fit them all in right.

Gould mentioned his brother Noah, who is a prop in our Flegg team. Is he a similar type of player?
His kid brother is a solid player. Again a smaller body at prop but that’s just due to age at the moment. Good attack and good defence in Flegg. He’s currently stuck behind the likes of Faagutu, Aho, Tofaeono for middle forwards but look to young Noah to be a mainstay for Flegg definitely

Couldn't watch the game last night but really keen to know how Tim went, did he look like he fit in or does he need more time in reserves. Prob been answered already sorry just pressed for time atm.

He looked like a comfortable first grader. Basically did what he does in NSW cup which is a good sign. There are players who can't make the step up, some that play exactly the same and then some who go even better in the NRL then they do in reserve grade. Tim looks like he will play the same every week no matter the grade.
