Tim Moltzen's future

I have no information and I haven't heard anything really, with the exception of the 9 commentators stating he's due back soon and will make a selection head ache for the boss.

I am under the impression he is fairly unliked on here. Had a lot of weak performances in the past however looked like he could've been anything early in his career.

He played #1 and #7 and whatever else, was talked up as a super utility player but also mentioned as a natural running #6\. Not sure what his position but no doubt we're strong in all those positions mentioned.

So there hasn't been much talk on him lately, even in the news…No recent articles.

However in other news, the raiders have released Sam Williams & Nathan Green, perhaps they have some spare coin they could throw Timmy's way and have that Benji & Moltz partnership in the red V.

He is contracted until the end of 2015.

In your opinion, what and where is his future?

For mine, he should try his best to secure a deal at St's or move to super league. He won't be in our strongest 17\. Would be decent for our NSW cup team though.

My prediction: released at the end of this season.
Super league, sharks, raiders, dragons.

Moltzen and Austin have very simmilar roles. Stong rumours, Koro is off to the Storm, play Moltzen on the wing in NSW Cup till he has a couple of blinders, sack Lawrence and bring him in. I honestly like Moltz.

I just hope he hasn't lost his speed…

moltzen is very talented. his one on one defense imo is the best in our team for backs.

he has/had pace, great running game and passing game (when he actually does pass).

he lacks the ticker or the heart of a first grader though and with his injuries- i dont think it will get any better. in the past, i would have had him anywhere in the 1-7 but idk if he will fit in with our culture anymore.

in saying that, i've often seen him in the dressing room having a chat with the boys- so it's up to him to know if he belongs in the team or not.

we are not exactly growing experienced, talented outside backs from our tree atm so he will be valuable next year. i wouldnt let go of him unless he doesn't fit into our culture.

Moltzen was a weak and timid player before his last 2 major knee injuries. I don't want him anywhere near the 1st grade team. The player player I would bring him in for is the deadweight Anasta. Although i would prefer Austin, Moses and Sironen before Moltzen

SO I would have him as 4th best 5/8 option. Possibly equal third.

So yeah, good luck to him but please not in 1st grade.

Moltz was too scared at FB.
He however is very good at Line Breaks, has this ability (that we havent seen in 2 seasons lol)

2015 Vision Map ====>

-Anasta to retirement
-Molzten to 5/8 till the end of 2015
-Austin as the utility player

A lot will hinge on how he returns from such a long injury lay off. Moltzen hasn't played in over a year and the last time he came back from a knee reco, it took him a full 12 months before he started to play with any confidence again. So at this stage I am not expecting anything from him this year, I think he'll need quite a few weeks in State Cup. I'd like to see him play a dominant right side 5/8 role, but I just don't think we'll get the best out of moltzen this year.

See what he has to offer IMO ..really it is about the body it will be up for it or not and I think with another major one Tim will be hanging up the boots. The guy has talent hope it works out for him as he is persistent give him that.

Regardless whether you love or hate the bloke,(I don't particularly like him, never have) if he comes back into state cup and is performing then I would slot him straight into either 5/8 or the centres. Either way that would allow Anasta to pack his bags and finally go or enable Lawrence to be dropped.

Either way I don't think we should be getting rid of him if he comes back and plays strong as we seriously lack depth in the centres.

Fair enough if he comes back and is slow, timid and not the player he was, after a heap of games then yeah, shop him around but until then the club would be mad to let him go., especially if Koro goes!

I would like to see Moltzen back as an option off the bench when he gets a few games back under his belt.

He is a good footballer who has been unlucky with injury and I do hope he has still got his pace as right centre is an option over Lawrence.

He has a big kick also which adds to our options.

I saw him training last week and he looked to be moving well so fingers crossed he could bed back soon.

We need to get behind our team

A couple of years ago I would agree to a bench start but this year has shown 4 big bloopers on the bench to soften up the defence, if he goes well I see no reason why he can not get a start as at the moment there are a few that would feel uneasy.

When you look at all our options in the six jersey (not including Moses ) Moltzen if he hasn't lost any speed could be our best option

Scary thought when you think about it

I wonder if it is seriously crossing Potter's mind to give Moses a run off the bench v Canberra

People forget quite easily. Moltz was playing REALLY well at FB before his ACL last year.

I think he will play decently on return as long as he hasn't lost all his speed/agility because of it combined with the fracture. But, i cant find a spot for him in a fully fit 17…

To think Moltzen is going to hit the ground running after being out for so long with yet another knee injury is fantasy land stuff, even if things go well he probably will not get things together mentally till the end of the season.

So it will be late in the season before he gets a look in for first grade and by than they will probably be grooming Moses for the 6 role.

Also didnt Mayer say, the club was looking for salary cap concessions because of Moltzens long term injury???If that was the case they may have their hands tied and only be able to play him in state cup

I
