Tim Moltzen's future

Tim Moltzen's bad luck with injuries surely has to end soon.
Regardless of what people think of him, I would just like to see him get a chance to play 10 to 15 games in a row.
It does not matter where he plays it, state cup or a local comp, because after playing each game, bit by bit more confidence will be re-gained.

I like Moltz. He has a lot of ability and there wasn't much wrong with his game at FB besides not running the ball back with a bit of heart. He certainly hasn't deserved some of the rhetoric directed at him.

In my mind, he should be cheap to resign. If that's true, he will the ultimate depth for the Halves and FB for the next few years. Once Anasta is done, we won't have too many other options besides Austin.

Moltz is a better option at FB than Rowe if he comes back to the standard he was at and would be a half option behind Brooks, Moses and Austin.

Plus as a few have pointed out, he would probably be a better option than Lawrence at center.

The other thing to consider is are Brooks and Moses going to be looking at Origin duties in a few years? If so, we are going to need some depth.

If he is cheap, keep him on board!
 
Fully fit, he makes plenty of breaks and knows how to find the line. And he's played every position in the backline. And he looked much better at fullback under Potter last year.

Also we have seen a number of other players excel without Benji perhaps Moltzen will be better with a more consistent approach. If he is good enough to be back in first grade he will be and I think he is a great utility player
 
Play Tim, if he deserves it. Don't judge him by his past, let his action speak for itself. Like everyone else, he desrves to be given the opportunity.I hope he can capture some of his best of the past.

He wasn't great under the high balls and sure as hell liked to give people a razz when they made errors
 
It's hard to know where Moltzen's future will take him. I agree with those who say this will take time. When he does return, assuming it is infact this season, i'd expect him to play out the season in NSW Cup. The only potential opening for him looks like it will come if we were to lose two or three outside backs to injury.

The reality is that Moltzen's future at the club is up in the air. No one knows how long it will take for him to recover his form, or even come close to it. It's safe to say it will take time for him to rediscover it and i just don't know how far down the pecking order he'll find himself in the long run.

He's got a mountain in front of him.
 
would be nice to see a young player overcome extreme injuries and finish his career on a successful note for a change.
Watching talented youngsters losing their careers and damaging themselves in sport is a real downer.
But jeez, if he can do that it will be near on a miracle….but yeah, would be good to see

This post sums it up well….Timmy's future is in his hands...he always had potential....just needs to realise it in his best position...which is not fullback...(and we don't need another fullback)...If Tim is going to excel it will be at 5/8 or Centre.... and as fate will have it we have a weakness at both of those positions for the rest of this year......Tim is taking a fair chuck of our cap this year and next and I'd like to see the WT get a decent return on this cap cost....I wish Tim good luck
 
I cant get excited about Moltzens future to be honest. Time and time again he showed a pea heart at fullback and yet when things went wrong he was ready at the drop of a hat to absolutely give it to his team mates loudly, and vocally. To me he always looked like he thought he had "made it" and Iguess I couldn't blame him as he was held in very high esteem coming through with that group of youngsters but never really showed actual form to warrant his hype.

He had 6 weeks or so of looking good running into gaps for Benji, but that is the easy job. He lacks the courage for fullback and lacks the passing game for 5/8.

I genuinely wish he had honoured (like a man) his deal with St George.
 
People judge TImmy too harshly- he is only 25

90 first grade games - we won 48 for a 53% win record
He scored 39 tries including 15 from his last 27 games over the last 2 years
56 line breaks

All this despite playing 5 different positions and hardly ever in his preferred position of 5/8

It wasn't that Moltzen backed out of the deal. The Tigers dropped him as unwanted meat, then panicked after Robert Lui bashed his missus and we suddenly found ourselves short a half. It was then that they revealed they'd never signed their half of the paperwork, and Moltzen was still technically a Tiger.

I was quite glad we kept him at the time, as Todd Carney had just exited the Roosters in disgrace, and was the only other first grade halfback on the market. Just picturing Carney in a Tigers jersey makes me shudder.
 
Seriously…Moltzen??? Some of you guys are kidding yourselves. I can't believe the comments I am reading about Moltzen's great defence and possible qualities as a 5/8th.
The guy can't tackle at all, he has no passing or kicking game whatsoever, and on top of that he has no heart! The only Tigers player I can think of that is on par with Moltzen is Anasta (and please don't ask me what I think of his contribution!!).

We need a solid partner to Brooks in the halves - a player who can take on playmaking responsibilities as well as run the ball, kick cleverly and defend strongly. Until we develop that guy we are not going to trouble any of the top 4 teams. Take a look at the 5/8ths going around in the NRL and compare them to Anasta (not just the positive stats but the mistakes as well). We aren't helping Brooks develop at all. We can't win when Farah is out, as there is no other 'go to' option than Brooks. Moltzen is not the answer and if we have him and Anasta in the same team we may as well give every team 12 points start each week and forgo the agony and frustration of watching them. Actually I can't even bare the thought of it!
 
Kind of reminds me of what Scott Prince went through early in his career with injuries. Lets hope Moltz can stay injury free for the rest of his NRL career & he could be a very handy utility for us.
