A coach's job involves three things IMHO:
1\. Preparation;
2\. In-game Tactics;
3\. Selection.
This year the Tiges played very well in most games. Many of the games we lost we were the better team, it was execution that let us down in most cases. On that basis I think we can say Sheens passes point 1\. In respect of 2, Sheens is, in my view, the best tactical coach in the game. I honestly believe no coach has changed the way the game has been played as much as Sheens as over the last 20 years. 2005 was an amazing achievement in coaching. In respect of 3, Sheens does deserve criticism here at times. However, at the end of the day not once this year did the selection of Morris in the halves cost us a game.
It comes down to the fact that this year we looked like contenders and whilst we didnt get the prize in some games this doesnt necessarily reflect on the coaching. I will get the usual criticism that this is just excuses.
Willow, can we get a block feature on this forum. I am getting too long in the tooth for a lot of the negativity around here.
