Tim Sheens to coach Warriors

Four-time premiership-winning coach Tim Sheens could be in charge of the Warriors within the next fortnight, reports out of Australia are suggesting.
Sydney's Sun Herald is today reporting that both the Warriors and St George Illawarra are interested in signing the former Wests Tigers mentor.
Fairfax has been told Sheens could be at the helm of either club in two weeks. Both started the season in poor form, putting pressure on Steve Price at the Dragons and Matthew Elliott in Auckland.
Sheens is still being paid by the Tigers after reaching an agreement in the off-season in which he no longer had a role with the team after Mick Potter was recruited from the English Super League.
Price is in the second season of a two-year deal and St George Illawarra made no secret of their desire to replace him with Craig Bellamy, before the Storm coach decided to stay put.
The Dragons have had a lacklustre season start, with defeats to Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra.
Elliott, who enjoyed mixed success at Canberra and Penrith, was a controversial selection to coach the Warriors this season. Players publicly expressed their desire for interim coach Tony Iro to get the job after Brian McClennan parted ways with the club late last season.
It would be a big call to dump Elliott so early into the season, but co-owners Eric Watson and Sir Owen Glenn invested substantial finances in the club in the past six months and are expecting to see some return in their investment.
Two weeks ago Elliott said he believed the owners would allow him to make the Warriors a winning team again. "I am 100 per cent confident in that," said Elliott, who has coached Bradford, the Raiders and the Panthers.

So, if he does go to either of those clubs, what happens with our payments to him?

I assume they'd be wiped provided he takes up the role before his tenure with us expires

he will come back to bite us

Lets hope he doesn't go to St George, with their roster, cap space and location, and his close ties with Payten, and all the junior teams and players, we could get savaged

I had a feeling this might happen. I reckon the Warriors are not responding to Elliot because they've wanted Sheens all along. They will have to dangle a big carrot to get him to settle across the Tasman though.

Look at the positives if Sheens takes over the Warriors

A whole heap of big front rowers will come onto the market place

He could potentially do a tigers '05 run with the warriors.
Shaun Johnson … Benji Marshall ?
Young player with a brilliant talent coming through...

Lol, doubt it though.
Tim Sheens is a hack.

Not surprised Elliot is on the outs, he was dead in the water when he got the job and Warriors players were immediately on twitter upset that Tony Iro didn't get the job. Feel sorry for him, although it was not a smart appointment to begin with, Elliot isn't a very good coach.

Ink, I would think we would still be paying part of his wages until his WT contract expires, when is that, the end of 2014?
Demps, Shaun Johnson is even a bigger front-runner than Benji with nowhere near the class, he lived and died by Maloney's kicking game and chasing. Johnson is a dud.

The warriors are a train wreck. Sheens won't be able to help them much. When they get the wooden spoon this year, they'll sack him and find someone else, maybe iro or Kearney.

Yeah the Polynesian boys have gone on strike eh bro!! Sweet as Cuz, Tony Iro is the man for sure….they ain't gonna respond to any other coach, I hope we play them sooner rather than later
