My understanding is he had minor bets on a couple of games. This does not make the guy the spawn of satan. To suggest that a player caught in possession of drugs isn't as bad as a punter is crazy.

It is legal for all of us to bet, It is against the law for anyone to be in possession or use drugs.

So one commits a crime against a sporting code gets sacked, the other our countries laws and the NRL code but is ONLY suspended for two weeks. :crazy

If you are going to sack a man for a couple of small bets on games that were not his own (there is no suggestion of match fixing), then you must sack a man who is in possession of drugs.

Just doesn't make sense.

What is worse is what the West Tigers management was doing. They obviously new about Simona gambling issues and I would probably say Lovett's drug issue as well yet they tried to fob them off to others clubs before it became public knowledge. A very poor effort by our management probably dishonest would be a better word.
But I'm sure it will be covered over and nothing done about it. The NRL should investigate what our management new about this and what they were doing.

Wow that would be a kick in guts if the club did that.

Bizarre. Two players shopped around and then out of the blue both are charged with incidents that may effect their playing future. Hope no one else has been up to no good.

If he has bet against the WT's he is worse than the spawn of Satan

If he did bet against us then he certainly is. And he would be done for match fixing as well.

But at this stage there is no suggestion that he has.

That's why I find its strange why the NRL has reacted so strongly and directly

Especially when you consider the antics of Kieran Foran

I'm probably wrong , but I just have this bad feeling

Forgot to add , I find it even stranger he can't continue to train with the squad

That's the thing that has me thinking ….....

I read this as "Rankin earns spot in starting 17".
DAMMIT!!!

Oh the humanity

The prospect of Kev in the centres is much much worse than Rankin plodding on the wing.

I appreciate that the rankin bashing can be nauseating, but Kev in the centres is a lot better than rankin on the wing. Rankin offers nothing in defense or attack. He's not even a top shelf goal kicker. While Kev can be caught out of position in defense, at least he is a threat in attack

Rankin pretty good positionally in attack . Evidence of this is that his scored a few tries.

There's no facts to this claim.

For the life of him kev cant tackle, but in attack kev is one of our best weapons with pace and flair.

Rankin can…........................... not sure what he can do. I think someone said he gets JT's car really shining so that must help lol

What I don't get is if they were shopping them around to other clubs then we would've been still paying part of their contracts but if they knew they were up to no good then WT's could terminate the contracts without costing them a cent… Much more financially beneficial to terminate than offload them, it's a little confusing to say the least

Maybe they weren't shopping them and simply told them their services won't be required after their contracts expired in 2017…. so if they could secure something now and beyond ...longer term...that the Club wouldn't stand in their way...simple I know...so lets go with It's all a conspiracy...

Sounds to me the NRL released it before he went to the NRL Titans. Ethan Lowe got 2 games for betting on games he didn't play in a few years ago. If it's spot fixing which is hard to prove it can be jail time. If it's small bets on other club games Lovetts offence is worse. I suspect it's more serious NRL looking to derigister.

i think you might be right.

But a conspiracy is much more fun

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy I'm saying it's confusing, maybe it's because we don't know all the details.

According to the SMH they were minor bets and not connected to match fixing but in any case he'll have his chance to respond in due course. it seems that a precedent was established a few years ago when players were suspended but not rubbed out, so he may have an argument for suspension only.

The Club NEVER stated they were shopping them around, it was specualtion in many other sources. Maybe it was either a smokescreen for the investigation …or...media etc just picked up something about Simona not being here this year, put 2 + 2 together and got a pumpkin?

thank you, that's what I was trying to get across, but if it is proven he bet against the tigers he should be outed for life. and yes something stinks in tiger land, that allows Lovett to continue, after been convicted.

Wasn't referring to your post tigermac…More that the Club knew about these incidents and were therefore shopping the said players around in some clandestine Machiavellian plot to rid them from the Roster...

What you are saying is pure speculation. You don't know what the club knew or did not know. Ease up until you know the facts for God's sake.

I get ya… The point I was trying to make in my earlier post was that "if" the club did know about it and "if" the club were shopping them around it just doesn't make sense to do it like that. So maybe it's true that the club didn't know about it or the club weren't shopping them around. Who knows, I'm sure we'll never be privy to this information.
