Maybe they weren't shopping them and simply told them their services won't be required after their contracts expired in 2017…. so if they could secure something now and beyond ...longer term...that the Club wouldn't stand in their way...simple I know...so lets go with It's all a conspiracy...

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy I'm saying it's confusing, maybe it's because we don't know all the details.

Wasn't referring to your post tigermac…More that the Club knew about these incidents and were therefore shopping the said players around in some clandestine Machiavellian plot to rid them from the Roster...

Machiavellian ??

Wow , who told you what that word meant and how many goes did it take you to spell it

Could even be thought as Faustian , but you want to watch the trial and not see what Faustian means

If the club knew these charges were possibly coming do you think they would have been training without Simona and just put him on ice under a feigned injury

I get the feeling that Simona had no idea this was coming either …..

My understanding is he had minor bets on a couple of games. This does not make the guy the spawn of satan. To suggest that a player caught in possession of drugs isn't as bad as a punter is crazy.

It is legal for all of us to bet, It is against the law for anyone to be in possession or use drugs.

So one commits a crime against a sporting code gets sacked, the other our countries laws and the NRL code but is ONLY suspended for two weeks. :crazy

If you are going to sack a man for a couple of small bets on games that were not his own (there is no suggestion of match fixing), then you must sack a man who is in possession of drugs.

Just doesn't make sense.

What is worse is what the West Tigers management was doing. They obviously new about Simona gambling issues and I would probably say Lovett's drug issue as well yet they tried to fob them off to others clubs before it became public knowledge. A very poor effort by our management probably dishonest would be a better word.
But I'm sure it will be covered over and nothing done about it. The NRL should investigate what our management new about this and what they were doing.

Where is the proof that the club knew anything about this at all?

And if you are correct and they did, full marks for trying to CHANGE THE CULTURE and get rid of the knobs. I like Simona and enjoyed when he was on, but this has shocked and disappointed me.

Drugs…...gambling....One wonders if the previous club captain who should be the main man and was a club legend for many years and should have the trust and loyalty of his team mates knew anything about this, or was he so out of touch for those years? Did other senior players know? Hopefully they are all put on notice. Sounds like the management/coach who are changing the culture know exactly what they need to do.

If we're going with the conspiracy theory let's go all in:
- Tigers become aware Simona is likely to be deregistered
- Tigers realise they will need another NRL quality centre
- Tigers know the Roosters are floating Dale Copley and the Titans are interested as they have an outside back shortage
- Tigers offer Titans Simona as the answer to their outside back shortage
- Titans take the offer freeing up coin at the Tigers
- Tigers use free coin to sign Copley and secure an NRL standard centre for 2017
- Simona gets deregsitered leaving the Titans with an outside back shortage
- Tigers laugh

I liked Tim too, and I hope this is not as serious as has been made out.

I further hope that Simona has not been mixed up with that clown that Foran was mixed up with either, the 'colourful Sydney former brothel owner'.

No names, no packdrill.

Just doesn't make sense.

If he has bet against the WT's he is worse than the spawn of Satan

If he did bet against us then he certainly is. And he would be done for match fixing as well.

But at this stage there is no suggestion that he has.

That's why I find its strange why the NRL has reacted so strongly and directly

Especially when you consider the antics of Kieran Foran

I'm probably wrong , but I just have this bad feeling

Yeah Foran the little weasel has slipped his way under the radar back into the NRL, a little "mental issue" like he claimed he had last year can work wonders in getting you off the hook, absolved of any wrongdoings and back on the field before you can say "all good bro". The NRL is a cesspool.

So has been stood down from training and playing. Apparently the presumption of innocence only applies to those that are accused of beating their partners.

Few things:

1\. Simona is innocent until proven guilty but you would have to think the evidence is pretty damning.
2\. For those who are looking to blame someone else for his alleged actions give yourselves an uppercut. If he did it, he is 100% responsible.
3\. I hate the gambling adds and sponsorships myself but you can't blame that.
4\. For those fools who think it's ok to have a bit of inside knowledge give yourself an uppercut. That's why they can't bet on the game you clowns. If Tim wants a bet there is all manner of alternatives.
5\. Comparisons to Tim and Kyle are silly.
6\. I like Tim. Was gutted to think he might go. Hope it's not true and he stays but if he's guilty the he has no one to blame but himself.
7\. I haven't seen anyone on here who knows exactly what happened. Speculation is one thing. Assumptions are another.

I agree, and I'll say this that is always often not considered, it takes two to tango.
Following on from Geo's statement the more likely result of all the media talk would have been their management's doing.
Stick a dagger in the tigers and try and make everyone know that they let the player down and not the other way.
Thats alot easier for the manager to try and secure another deal with an alterative club for their client.

Seriously, this has nothing to do with Farah!!!

Is it just a big coincidence that the club shops 2 players a few weeks before they are caught out publicly???

According to the SMH they were minor bets and not connected to match fixing but in any case he'll have his chance to respond in due course. it seems that a precedent was established a few years ago when players were suspended but not rubbed out, so he may have an argument for suspension only.

Alternatively, Simona will be rubbed out for life if the NRL apply the precedent that saw him suspended for three games last year.

I don't think there is any evidence that the club was shopping either of them around or that the club knew.

I suspect that they may have know about Lovett before hand but I'm not sure about Simona.

If the tip off was to the NRL, are they obligated to notify the club of an investigation?

All those suggesting a fine or a small suspension. When the NRL did a sweep across all players a couple of years ago and suspended some and fined others they made it very very clear too al the players in the game including Tim Sim that it was a warning to everyone and that they wouldn't show the same leniancy next time. I think we will see Simona gone for a year at least no matter how small.

Betting on an NRL in which yu are invovled has all kind of negative outcomes at risk - the integrity of the game as a whole, the ability for him to have been seen by criminal elements, the fact that he himself may have changed moments in the game no matte the outcome. For example if you bet on yourself for 1st try scorer then you hog a ball instead of passing it this is changing the match based on betting results and that is fraudulent of the paying public and the betting agencies and the NRL and all involved.

Personally with all the warnings they have had if he did bet on an NRL game he should be kicked out of the game as should have Foran

The best post which sums up the whole situation.Speculation is nearly always counter productive let the NRL sort it out

It's called changing the culture boys. We need be to be doing everything right and these things should not be swept under the carpet. Short term pain long term gain. If you are flogging your guts out for 3 months and you find out the guys next to you is doing lines at crown casino while your tucked up in bed getting ready for next training session..,what signal does it send.

I dont know what games he was betting on, but i dare say it will come out, Just remember one thing he plays for Wests Tigers so he will be hammered by the N.R.L.
