Time for something positive

I will give you something positive….Ivan is on the payroll and has complete control of the team....Moses wants to split because he has spit the dummy...we signed Brooks for 2 years without having the dominatrix playing beside him next year...Woods may bolt and can be replaced by someone cheaper and a better NRL prop forward...we will have money in the bank thanks to the salary cap increase...if Teddy wants to go then there can be better players available,he is good but he aint God....

these players would be my picks based on loosing MM, Woods and Teddy.

Sam Tagataese ( seems to have dropped off the radar at the sharks recently, is he injured?)

Ben Matulino ( kiwi internation who was playing his best with Ivan as coach, worth a gamble)

Sitaleki Akauola ( not sure why he never really got a go here but has shown enough at Penrith to suggest he can play at this level)

Russell Packer ( not a fan and his past history is a negative, but we need an aggressive front rower and he fits this)

Dean Whare (replace Kev N)

Kyle Feldt (wing for Suli to move to centre and idris back to NSW cup as depth)

Shaun Johnson ( to play 5/8)

Jordan Kahu ( to play fullback)

Gareth Widdop ( if we cant get Johnson)

Id look to re-sign these players

Tim Grant ( as below)
Ava Seumanufagai ( with the above forwards would give us 5 good props plus Akauola who could be prop or 2nd row)

Matt McIlwrick ( not the flashiest 9 in the NRL but solid enough and defends solidly one of the only blokes in the current side that ive seen use his shoulder and pick n drive players. Play 25 minutes then Liddle to come on and play till the 65th min)

David Nofoaluma ( defence has been suspect but that may change with new players inside him making better decsions)
\
\
Lineup something like this:

1: Kahu
2: Nofoaluma
3: Suli
4: Whare
5: Feldt
6: Johnson/Widdop
7: Brooks
8: Matulino
9: McIlwrick
10: Packer
11: Aloiai
12:Sue/Lawrence
13: Taylor

14: Ava
15: Grant
16: Akauola/Tagataese
17: Liddle
18: Lawrence/Sue

Not sure if this would even possible under the cap, but it brings ALOT of new faces and may even create some competition for spots.

We beat the cows at home , Teddy would have watched his strong club get pumped last night , it may help him have a re think

If we only retain Brooks and the others leave, which sadly is becoming a genuine possibility, how much will we have to spend in the player market, 3, maybe 4 million? We could target whoever we wanted. Like a fat rich kid in a chocolate factory.

Having money to target players is not the issue, even if they stay…if Teddy leaves, that will send a strong message to other players in the NRL about the WT....Stay away!

Everyone is saying if Teddy and Woods leaves - "Who cares" we will just replace them.

There is NO player better than these two guys in their positions that will be off contract for 2018\. That means we will be dropping down to two inferior players - maybe the Roosters, Broncos and Melbourne can do this but we can't (not willingly at least).

These two must be signed and players bought to help to ease their work load - Matulino to share the load with Woods and Ave and who else Cleary keeps or buys - I think Suli is good - not sure if he is ready to move into the centres yet - Dean Ware would be good and a bought 5/8 both of these would give Teddy more options than having to try and do it all himself.

I am sure Cleary will be able to work all this out - so I am really quite happy to leave ita ll up to him.

i thought that as well but lately I'm thinking these boys have really cast doubt on their credibility in the last couple of weeks. they really haven't come across as footballers and sound more like mercenaries chasing the biggest payday or the easy route to the finals.

i heard on mmm the announcers stating that Issac Moses wasn't happy with Teddy re his comments yesterday on the roosters and dogs.

One positive is that Isaac Moses won't be copping flack for holding an NRL club to ransome anymore. No more "big 4" is a positive.

Brooks - Tigers
Moses - Eels
Tedesco - Roosters
Woods - Bulldogs

See, everyone will be happy!

Another positive is that I got another laugh out of reading Uncle Benny's comment about his nephew.

"Mitch didn't want to leave the Tigers but what other option did he have after they pulled their offer to prioritise Tedesco and Woods?"

Hahahaha

How long have the Tigers been trying to get their signatures? It started nearly 2 years ago but they have all been ignoring the WTs. Young Mitch 'me me' Moses has no-one to blame but himself.

Correct Russell we can not get anyone better than the pair of them.We need both and hopefully they realise this and sort it out with Cleary.I Moses has done them no favours but i think M Moses may have accidently. It could be the wake up call they needed.

Thirdly, yet another positive is that I'll be still here cheering on the Tigers!

I've been reading some tweets to gusgould and there are a number of Panther supporters saying that they have mates who support the Tigers but now want to follow the Panthers.

I've been through so many lows following Wests Tigers/Balmain for my entire life (60+ yrs) and really not that many highs but the allure of hope in every pre-season is addictive.

If we lose the "other 3" it will hurt for a day or two but I'll get over it the same as I did when Big Artie signed with the Tri-colours way back.

My name is cqtiger … and I am West Tigersaholic.

Good on you cq. I think we all are looking forward to what Cleary can do over time to build a competitive squad, regardless of who the personnel may be

For now, this will be my stance. Everything else is doing my head in!

Want to go follow Panthers? What weak willed beggars.

If Cleary can build it, the fans will come!

(In the meantime we'll just stay around and try to keep the foundation base solid!)

Hypothetical situation - Teddy, Woods, Moses all gone. It's not a reality yet and I think most fans are hoping we keep Teddy & Woods, but as GNR4LIFE said, let's try to be positive in any way we can. With the money freed up I think its possible to afford the below

A couple of strong front rower's - don't have to be elite first grader's, just need to run hard and put all their passion onto the pitch - will reflect onto younger less experienced players

Either an experienced half-back or five-eighth who can goal-kick and play alongside Brooks but be the primary ball player, which will hopefully help mould Brooks into his potential.

A full-back (could also be the goal-kicker), again doesnt have to be flashy or elite ie. Billy Slater, just needs to have the guts to throw on the line and be able to organise the back line well.

The last thing I wanna see is Teddy and Woods to walk out the door, our player-retention is an issue and it'll be tough rebuilding a spine again but if it comes down to it, we need a new approach in which players we spend money on. I think the secret lies within the front row. We've always struggled with our big guns and spent ridiculous amounts of money on "potential" players who haven't quite gelled for us. We need to purchase players with credibility - players that have a good rep within the NRL.

I like matulino, will chambers, Aiden guerra, vete out of that list. Although unless nrl revise the cap up there could be some bargains out of the contracted players.
