Time has come for Campbelltown to become a Fortress!!

I was reading an article by Shane Flanagan in this week's Big League titled "What's in a venue?", where he said that there is one team that is consistently better at home than away….the Raiders, and said in his playing days he checked the draw and rejoiced any time his team didn't have to play the Raiders in Canberra.

He went onto say that Venues , such as ANZ don't come into most teams' thoughts in a negative way , however some teams have an aura about them at home, like the Wests Tigers at Leichhardt, where many othe players would perfe to play the Tigers at the SFS , where they see no home ground advantage, than they have at Leichhardt.

Well it got me thinking that we now have 4 home games now at Leichhardt Oval and 4 home games at Campbelltown Sports Stadium and we should have that aura at both our traditional home grounds.

Do you think we have? Everyone at Campbelltown on Sunday has to stand up, yell and cheer and be counted.....Campbelltown has to have that fear factor placed on opposing teams!!

With the newly developed CSS , and hopefully a capacity packed sea of Black, White & Gold local crowd cheering & screaming for their home team, it should be the first win of the eight games at our traditional venues. If we can win all these 8 home games , a final berth is assured ,with 30 points.

I still can't understand why the Wests Tigers gave away the home ground advantage in Round 10 to Souths by playing at the SCG....this game last year cost the Wests Tigers from masking the 8.....hoping it will not be the decider again this year.

It would be great if the Tigers had one of those home grounds that other teams hate playing at. If we have the opportunity to make that ground Campbelltown, I'd be all for it. With the new capacity, how close does it take us to matching the Financial incentives of playing out of Moore Park?

I love the idea of the Tigers playing out of Liechhardt Oval, but realistically a few games a year is the best viable option.

All Good Then, Ink.
Looking forward to seeing how good the new works are…..

I have always believed that there should be only **one** home ground where the Wests Tigers can make their own graveyard/ fortress…...and if the future is Campbelltown Sports Stadium, where the team gets 22,000 manic cheering WT fans every game , and the players feel that advantage....so be it. But please no more SCG games.

It is.

Do you think we have?

Yes

x2…

Just as the old Girl is a graveyard...

All home games at traditional venues bar Souff's.....for the rest of the YEAR....when was the last time that happened....

How good is It!!!!

Do people think with all the grounds we play at:

Our crowds are somewhat diluted?

or

Theyre a true reflection of our support base?

Its a fact many still only attend certain venues.
I know many personally

HaHaHaHa who cares….We are all Wests Tigers supporters.....

Why make it a certain supporter base only goes to certain grounds thing...... :brick:

Because my friend, that is still occuring.
…and it shouldnt. Its a conditional support base for a small %
You can stick your head in the sand and pretend its not happening, but that achieves nothing.

Just wondering if we had one ground, would our crowds be less thinned out?

I think at first there'd be some problems, but we have come a long way since the early days...as long as we're competitive the crowds will come.

edit: btw, i didnt point a finger at one side or the other, im sure its a mutual thing

Absolutely they are diluted….I also know of many , that pick and choose....so does the club, otherwise they wouldn't have the Leichhardt and Campbelltown or onlt City Special packages.

I just wished Harry at Meriton listened to my letters to build our own purpose build 27000 seater fully enclosed Meriton Stadium , that we could have shared with Sydney FC and had a massive Sports Club built in with it....how good would that so been....the Ultimate Wests Tigers Fortress, where you could watch games all afternoon and party all night long!!

No that is constuctive critisism….I take it back....You are right...My head is out of the sand...thanks

Stuffed if I know why it still happens....

I still believe in 50/50 split call me a tradionalist

Did you propose a location for Meriton Stadium?

http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENAU366&lr=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=concord%20oval%20concord&fb=1≷=au&hq=concord%20oval&hnear=concord&cid=0,0,13314863042784701263&ei=5YDbS8yWMpSXkQXV3dHSBw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAcQnwIwAA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The Park across the road from Gipps St as the new Stadium and Cintra Park and the park north of it for Parking and the Club to end all Clubs….Gipps St to be widened and a overpass walkway to Concord Oval.

There is no Major club around for miles and the Club would go gangbusters

Oh ya, it's a half hour stumble walk from my home

Nope….Hillier at Liverpool.Oasis style..you know like when they settled on Canberra as the Nations Capital...

Half way beteen Leichhardt and Campbelltown...

Ironically I'm of to Leichhardt now to watch the Magpies smash the Sharkies and Balmian get one up on the Rorters.... .

I know the Tigers are still contracted to us the SFS over the coming years, but please could we cut a deal and just use our proper home grounds?

I'm sick and tired of using all these so called 'home grounds' where most teams play at on a week to week basis anyway. If we had teams coming to leichhardt and campbelltown for our home games, we'd almost definitely win 8 of them, if not 9 or 10 which would leave us in good stead for corresponding away matches.

I still believe Leichhardt is our main fotress. no matter how we're playing we always seem to conjure up 18,000 every time. But at Campbo, the average only seems to be around 13,000-15,000\. But i'm sure tomorrow the fans will be out in numbers to watch this one.

1/ Liechdart has been shown to be anything but a fortress over the last few seasons.
2/Can we move on from ..why don't we play all our home games away from SFS if you want to put up a million $$$ YES WE CAN :bulb:

The argument about the SFS not being a home venue is crap in my opinion. We make massive $$$$ out of them and realistically we have had good results at the ground since our move there. I actually think that our results at the SFS wre better than our results at our traditional games last year, especially when you consider the difficult opposition we play at the SFS.

That sounds like a club response.

When was the last time we played 'better' opponents at traditional venues.

How can you blame that one loss solely on us missing the 8? WE lost games at both LO and CS aswell.
