Time to make the magpie more visible.

Wests Tigers are my club now i used to follow Wests but they are gone, as i said i follow WESTS TIGERS.

Name of club: Wests Tigers.

Combination of two traditional clubs, Western Suburbs and Balmain Tigers.

Ergo, both Magpie and Tiger should be prominently displayed on jersey. Simple.

That's not the Balmain Tiger on the current jersey…

Front of jersey should be decorated in Tigers colors and faint traditional logo, likewise for the Magpies on the back. Alternate every year or for home games home ground team features on the front. Is there anyone on this forum that can put a jersey design together, so we can have a look at it.

Craegus is the man for the job ,absolute genius with jersey designs

Thanks Happy. I remember someone creating jersey/screen savers a few months back on this forum. Just couldn't remember the name.

Errr … where will we put the word "Balmain" then , Col?
Or do we go back to the traditional Balmain tiger with the word under it and ditch the current (poor) version?
The current team logo is a tiger - not a magpie or anything else.
You should be content you got 'Wests' in the name.

I'd rather see the White be used and mentioned just as prominently as our other two colours. Being referred to as the just ''Black and Golds'' is loaded with ignorance and really grinds my gears

Oh how I agree with that statement!!

Yeah me three.

I'm not fussed at all about the Magpie, I know some are people are but thats just me. The biggest vice in the JV that ex-Magpies should have a problem with is the way the White gets totally neglected. It would be one thing if it was neglected from the outside looking in, but the club itself are the biggest offenders with the merchandise. Its rediculous and a slap in the face to one half of the JV, and the club should be ashamed of their negligence in that regard

I think if the Wests leagues clubs are going to pour more money into the WT, they should ask for a bigger Magpie to appear on the jersey. Something in return for their investment. This is nothing against the Balmain side of the JV, if anything return the Tiger per the JV, it looks awesome. Time for a WT make over.

Yeah , and while we're at it put the word 'Balmain' on the jersey…. :unamused:

Put that there too then, who cares. If you feel that strongly maybe start another thread like Tigermaniac did

1\. Balmain never appeared on the jersey, but if if it did they deserve it.
2\. Magpie was agreed on and appears already
3\. Wests are providing funding to the WT

Whoever agreed on putting a magpie and a tiger are idiots (IMO).
You can only be referred to by one mascot.
As far as I can see Wests got the name and Balmain got the logo (and you must admit it's much stronger and more marketable logo).
That's where it should end or do we or we will finish up with the Balmain & Western Suburbs Magpie /Tigers?

In any case agreements on team jumpers, logos etc are not and should not ever be based on some sort of Dutch auction on who funds more. To suggest so weakens your argument. These decisions need to made on what is best for the club moving forward and what reflects a fair share for both sides of the JV.

The magpie on the sleeve is not new and has been there since day one of WT. correct is properly and leave it alone! Its part of WT and unique.

Whats more important is colour use and branding. Black & Gold only merchandise is identical to all balmain merchandise. You see it in best and less clothing, scarves, beanies and so much more.

Wests Tigers are Black, Gold & White

Simple combination that should be respected and used by merchandising people.

WT is not Balmain Tigers 'renamed' as Wests Tigers, its a fresh concept to maintain the legacy of balmain tigers & western suburbs magpies.

Your right, the white was always to be included at the JV, apart from the heritage day celebrations.

Huh? Wests got "wests" balmain got the logo and the " tigers".

I always used to refer to the balmain tigers as " the tigers " as I know many did. If you think balmain got nothing in the name your kidding yourself.

For the logo…
Why could we not have a coat of arms type with a tiger on one side and magpie on other holding a shield of some shape with a WT logo on that (kind of like the members logo of a last year I think).

Or maybe a yin yang symbol flanked by dumbells

I wonder how many years we will need to go on about some clubs that died last millennium. I used to be from the Balmain side of the merger, but my kids are simply Wests Tigers fans. Let's just be one club already!

Hello? I said they got the logo…it is a tiger.
Seems you want us to have a tiger on all our merchandise and be called the magpies?
There is zero refence on the playing strip to Balmain and most ex Balmain supporters have learned to live with that.
The bird on the other hand..... :unamused:

We are one club! Who said we are not? Generations of fans followed balmain and wests but some must think we have to throw out 200 years of history and tradition out the window… If thats the case, Tell blocker roach to stop talking about how tigers have had rivalry with souths since the 70's or that tigers was the club he played for (said it last week in the game plan) even though he never played for WT

You were a balmain fan now a wests tigers fan but you are still a 'tigers fan' you follow WT because you followed balmain.

Millions of posts on this very forum have argued forever and a day about these issues

The magpie on the sleeve is an honour to the mascot/emblem of western suburbs that was taken away from the spotlight when the tigers brand was maintained.

There is still a tiger walking up and down the side line (just like balmain tigers) but the magpie is no longer.

The magpie on the sleeve does not hurt anyone and doesn't cost anything to anyone.

Leave it alone and let people use it as a link and reminder to why they follow WT today.

I have magpie blood and love the black and white in WT but my username is WTFL = wests tigers for life. Does not make me any less of a WT fan not anybody else.

I think a Magpie dive bombed Watto and he has never forgotten it…I have always felt that the Magpie should of been on all merchandise... but as some one has said why not a combined Magpie/Tiger symbol on the sleeve as the Weststigers one isn't really Balmains .Doesn't have to be huge and on all apparell as well. Magpies are a very intelligent animal much more than a Tiger all brawn no brains.

CK….theyre always callled the tigers, thus they got the name & logo

Maybe so , ink, but to me and many others they were the Balmain Tigers.
I miss the reference to Balmain every bit as much as any Wests supporter misses the magpie.
Only difference is there is a magpie on the jersey… but no Balmain - and I have accepted that.
Anyone really think it would it have been better if we were called the Balmain Magpies ?
