Whoever agreed on putting a magpie and a tiger are idiots (IMO).
You can only be referred to by one mascot.
As far as I can see Wests got the name and Balmain got the logo (and you must admit it's much stronger and more marketable logo).
That's where it should end or do we or we will finish up with the Balmain & Western Suburbs Magpie /Tigers?

Maybe so , ink, but to me and many others they were the Balmain Tigers.
I miss the reference to Balmain every bit as much as any Wests supporter misses the magpie.
Only difference is there is a magpie on the jersey… but no Balmain - and I have accepted that.

Would have been really interesting from a marketing and merchandising stand point. No doubt the shoe would have been on the other foot and we would be prominently be referred to as the ''Black and Whites''. Be interesting to see how Balmain folk would have reacted to that

Galahs was pretty much on the money last year when he suggested moving the Magpie symbol back to the point of the shoulder and back to its larger size of previous seasons.

Costs nothing, retores prominence and hurts nobody

And keeps many happy and quiet (Well maybe not quiet , actually not happy either )

FWIW the most famous sporting team in the country has a Magpie as their emblem, so i don't think thats neccessarily true

Balmain got the logo and in doing so got to keep the mantle " tigers". Fact. The Decision to keep the magpie on the sleeve was not " idiotic". As much as people think wests tigers is a new club born out of the blue in 2000 it's not, it's the joint venture if two clubs. So to call people idiotic for not alienating 50% of the new clubs fans in the clubs first season by loosing to pie is arguably a very smart move. Follow? Probably not.

As for the zero reference to balmain. Once again I'm not sure if your serious but as above I'll assume you are. Balmains logo was…a tiger..Balmains color was...black and gold. Now tell me again how balmain is not represented? Sure it dosnt have " balmain" below the emblem but seriously that's about it.

I'm not fused tbh on the emblem or how big the magpie is. There is no chance of a stand alone western suburbs first grade team and that's probably a good thing. Just don't say that it was 50/50.

If ex wests fans were satisfied with representation of the wests brand the forum will not be full of such topics. The original post came from a user name with tiger in it.

The magpies just got terminated at nsw cup, media refer to WT as just the tigers and you acknowledge a imbalance with colours etc yet you query why some WT fans want a bit more recognition of the wests in WT…

Simple simple solution - leave the tiny magpie ALONE!

I hope they do, I don't want the magpie forgotten. I value the merger and I value the history. I embraced the tiger,I love the tigers. Unfortunately Balmain leagues fell over, do we ditch them, no way they are a part of our history. If a leagues club eventuates it's a win/win for all, not the magpies celebrating a failure. Id like to think Balmain supporters think likewise about us. But in my eyes to this point in the JV it hasn't been 50/50\. Why does it bother you so much? Let the fans have a say. And you seem to be the one member on this forum who finds the tiny magpie on sleeve such a major issue that upsets you so much when someone brings it up (this time not galahs but a old balmain fan)

We had the same argument this time last year going around in circles about the same subject…

Don't worry, the magpies wont be coming back to the nrl or taking over balmain... Your tigers brand at NRL level is going nowhere.

And on the Harry matter - he does not bankroll Balmain or WT. he is a jersey sponsor only. The sad reality is that Balmain leagues club group is in financial ruin that is a publicised FACT not a rumour!

The whites not neglected totally…maybe they do say black and gold more thats for sure....but thats the media not the club is it.

Mate i quite liked this years wests heritage jumper...wouldnt mind if we had something like that as a home jersey for a year...bit of orange would brighten it up a bit'.
