Title Contenders

how long do you think it will be until we are actual title contenders. i reckon it will take 5-7 years. :bawling

I thought we were entering into year 2 of a plan by the new board that is meant to have us in the top four by year 4\. Does anyone think that will happen?

If the current salary cap laws remain (looks likely with the Sam Burgess return to Souths) that allows the best backed clubs to spend vastly over the salary cap by using TPA's we may never be in a position to be title contenders unless we find a way to match their spending thus improving our rooster to a level that can compete with the top sides. Again doesn't look likely within the next 5 years.

We do however have a good junior base to work on and with the right astute buys we could maybe against the odds do what the 2005 squad did (they were great young players with good experienced buys around them and they were against a lot better funded squads). To achieve what we did in 2005 we in my opinion need a far better coach (Tim Sheens for all his faults adapted to the fast play the ball and quick rucks better than any other coach did in 2005 and his game plans massively helped us to win that competition). We also need administration in place that can help us get a better roster under the salary cap and use the tools like TPA's better.

If I was a betting man, I would say it will take between 5-10 years to be serious title contenders but again at the start of 2005 I would have thought the same, it can be a funny game sometimes.

Yeah Souths have no problem fitting Sam Burgess back on their playing roster at a moment's notice are you freaking kidding me :brick:

If Mayer is anything to go off we should have been in the top four last year and this year is a premiership

A better question is, when will they stop being a bottom 4 joke side?

The sooner the better 😛ray:
On field consistent positive results, can fix this.
Maybe 2016 will be the season for consistency :bulb:
Probably got more chance of picking winning lotto numbers 3 weeks in a row. :unamused:
