Just be happy we saw him at his best in tiger colors. He is on a downward trend now and it won't be at our detriment. Good luck to him.

i would have like to see him and brooks for a season or 2 , may well have put benji back to his best,and with the new coming through our club and the new buys we will be a force next year and even greater in2015

The way I want to remember Benji is by the video highlight package put up by Bonstonker.
Just glad I lived through this era …...... be great to see some of the old games again during the summer ....... like the game down at Cronulla when Benji and Princey cut them to ribbons .... and so many other games like it. When I was going for the Maggies all those years, it was always a dream something like that would happen ........ and it couldnt have happened without joining with Balmain ....... just the greatest time ever.

There is no doubt that 2005 was like a dream. Rarely in sport do things like this happen and it gave the WT their playing identity.
Benji along with Sheens and the other but especially Benji is an iconic figure of that miracle.

Prince & Benji carved up the other Teams in the 2nd half of the 2005 season(he says stating the obvious) but most of it was ad-lib & instinct so not so sure Tim can claim the most of the credit.The semi-final when we played the Dragons was a standout game for me,to see 2 of the best centres in the NRL tied in knots by our halves was great stuff.

Benji will definitely be missed. But too good to be true to have two decent halves at the Tigers. If only we had the Rooster's salary cap.
I have been watching the Tigers for over 40 years, and without a doubt the most exciting player I have seen in this time is Benji Marshall. He has done things no other player could do. The 3 years he was injury free and had a decent 1/2 inside him we won the premiership (Prince), and could of made the grand final and won it except for some dubious decisions by Haynes & Co (knees in back by Jeremy Smith & that scrum) with Lui inside him. With no decent 1/2, he becomes more of an organiser which is not his natural game.
Sheens made the error of moving him closer to the ruck, as Potter has also done this year, if he has no room to move he is half the player.
Sheens was a sacked for not making the finals, Potter has overseen the worst year in how many years? Twenty? 2nd last, a porous defense (another 50 tonight), no variety in attack and a strange recruitment policy (Tapau and Halatau?). The whole back-line revolved around Benji under Sheens, Potter has tried to play a forward power game and seems to have neglected any sort of back-line play. He should take the blame for an abysmal year, sure we had a horrendous injury toll early, but we fielded strong teams at the end of the year. Bring back Sheens I reckon, might as well get him to earn his money. If he was in charge I am sure we would of finished higher than 2nd last. And Benji would of played far better than what Potter got out of him.
Yet Benji cops so much abuse from so many people on this forum. The anonymity of the internet, hey?
I am really sorry he has gone, and I would love to see him back here in some sort of role in the future. Thanks for the memories.

Next year we'll have a solid team with more experience, and I reckon we could even sneak into the 8 if a few things go our way. Just my opinion…
