Ron, have you ever laced a boot on in your life, don't talk about past glories but have you ever played the game as an adult, if so what level?.

i played up until i was 16 until i moved to sydney then havent played since…but i forgot that having played league makes an opinon more credible...you do realise that the best analyists in todays game never played football as an adult infact half the analysts who are on tv/radio at the moment who played FG league are the dumbest out of the lot

Having played leauge doesn't make it more credible; having common sense does.

You remind me of that halfwit Alan Jones. Get over yourself.

Ron, you have taken your psuedonym from a fictional character who was a halfwit, did you have to move to Sydney for reasons that may have involved 'special schooling'.
I was a champion junior league player in my age group until I came up against older players in reserve grade, thought I knew it all, so I never made it to first grade but respect the players that have.

look relax with the personal insults….im just giving my opinion...i could care less if you were a champion junior footballer it doesnt make your opinion more relevent....i think we wouldnt lose anything if we lost payten he makes SFA in metres gained and he is not in the top 4 defenders in our pack...he is expendable and he takes up a nice chunk of the salary cap.....

the last game of league i played was in the commonwealth bank cup for canobolas high school we got towelled up by blacktown i think it was...(going back 12-13 years here) like 56-4 it was a big game for us country boys...it got played on channel 9 on the sunday aswell when they used to show it back then..... moved to sydney not long after that and stopped playing

i fail to see what your comment means…..am i not allowed to have an opinion? what have i posted in this thread that requires me to "get over myself" as you put it. look up the stats payten is the worst performing starting forward in our team..... and has been for a few years now

Stick to the topic people and stop having a go at one another. It's childish, it's pointless and it will result in either of the following:

1\. The thread is locked
2\. Posts are deleted
3\. People are placed on mod preview

The Mods and Admins would rather not do any of the above, so please, have a think about what you are typing and keep it sensible and constructive, it's not hard.

Love the Big Hombre! A smart footy head on his shoulders, his defence around the ruck for Wests is impeccable. The Tigers are always a stronger team defensively when Payten is in the side. Experience combined with a high work ethic. I'd be happy to see him hang around the place until the body gives in. He's a tremendous club man. One of Wests Tigers best

Yeh well said gobbsy you know your footy….he has beatiful hands, can keep the play going when all expect it to be called ''held''...gets the 2nd phase moving, is unbelievably good with the younger players...a real mentor....he will make a very good coach one day I think
Yeh, he has his off days, maybe a bit more often than most....but imo hes been one of our best recruits.

Agree with all of the above…Seriously believe that if Todd stays injury free, he will be one of the reason why the Tigers will go all the way this year.

Watch his game closely this Monday night, as I reckon he will have a better game than against the Titans, which he had a cracker....and yeah Ink, he has FG coaching material, written all over him

You have every right to state your opinion as do I about yours.

To explain the post:

**Having played league doesn't make it more credible; having common sense does.**

You commented on someone's opinion because they stated they played league. You're right - having played league doesn't give their argument any more credibility. However it is as plain as daylight that Payten is one of our better forwards week in week out and in my opinion that is common sense.

**You remind me of that halfwit Alan Jones. Get over yourself.**

You appear to love placing yourself in the spotlight like some sort of football messiah. I feel this is very similiar to any radio shock jock. I somewhat impolitely asked you to pull your head in. I apologise for that however I detest self-aggrandisement.

I hope this helps make my previous post clearer.

You state that the stats show Payten is our worst forward and has been for years. Please produce aforesaid stats.

Todd Payten has more skill in his bootlaces than the majority of Props do in the NRL….

Knows when to inject himself into the game as well....

How's the centre of the Ruck and goal line defence been lately...Todd Payten along with Liam Fulton are huge factors in this improvement...

Seems teams can only score through kicks....Titans x2...Broncos x 1

Toddy also is equally effective in the back row and the front row and allows Sheens to play one front rower on the bench. Some see this as the bane of our existence but realistically it works. Honestly I think Sheens would rather every team have two bench players, a prop and a back. He seems to throw Dwyer, Moors, Flanagan et al on randomly just for the sake of it.

I feel Todd's best position is Lock, however his speed isn't up to scratch and he isnt an 80minute player. His ability to plug those wholes in defense is probably his greatest asset and Todd is integral to the Tigers defense. Topping Tackle Counts is a nice Stat, but moving the defense around and moving the line up is a better attribute to have in a RL Team and WINS games.

His attacking ability is reliable and consistent. While not flashy, there is 2-3 runs in every set that needs the domestic to complete with confidence. Todd is an integral part of this team and a shoulder of commonsense for the younger players to follow. Ink pointed out their are different styles of Props and there is also different style of Backrowers. This Tigers Pack is one of our best in years and the lessor name performers within this team are the reason we are in the Top 4 of this years competition.

A persons paycheck isn't always a true indicator!!!

He should probably make more metres in attack, but he's fine. Does his job well and is a overall good player in our scheme.

Can I report that last post please? That was just a contradictory, NOTHING post.

do what you please…but saying that they are the main reason our defence is so good is a lie, as they have both been here previously when our defence has been crap and they still put up the same if not less numbers then what they were back then.

thats right watto…truth is people can easily add me as a foe so they wouldnt get to read what i write but they dont...do they...because they want to read what i write no matter what it is....

so its pretty simple people really...if you dont like me or what i post then add me as a foe and problem solved you wont have to read what i post, other wise, how about you lay off the name calling and whinging hey?

Yeah I must admit I would have been happy enough for Payten to leave during the past couple of years but he's been very good since he came back. That said I wouldn't be passing up more long term options if they came up.

Wests Tigers 2010 with Todd Payten played 12 Won 10 Lost 2

Without Played 4 Lost 4…...
