I do love Madge. Tough bugger.

Warriors are playing with a bunch of loan players but he’s taken them past us pretty quick smart...

He’s getting the best out of his roster, you couldn’t say the same for Madge.

This ignores the fact that the two have different aims. Payten is working towards short term success with a roster he will walk away from. Maguire has a longer term goal, shaking up the current roster to identify the dead wood with a view to building a better long term roster.

The whole team is playing awful, not just the 'dead wood'. He is incapable of getting this group playing well. He appears to be a very one dimensional coach who needs a specific bunch of players to perform for him.

I think he is a good coach provided he has the right roster, whereas Payten appears to be just a good coach, full stop.

I guess we'll see how that manifests itself in Townsville.

You can, it's just our roster is weaker than his.

You are damning their loan players with faint praise. Most NRL players are better than our highest paid players.

Can you imagine what Forum fans would do if we signed Hetherington and Alvaro for 2021 .....

Doesn't matter, they're not playing finals either. Some of their loan players are better than our highest paid players.

It doesn’t matter that he’s able to get the most out of his roster but out coach can’t? (at least not yet).

I would say that’s very important.

Cleary didn't get much out of our roster either. Does that mean Payten is better than him too?

He got us to 9th. We’ll be lucky to finish 13th this year and this is more his team now than last year when we also finished 9th.

Are you sure we have a better roster than theirs? A lot of their players would walk into our side.

I'd argue he's got them to play at their potential where they had a terrible coach before him.

The white ant will go ok and good luck to him ... just a shame about the way he deals with succession Issues .. would not trust this fella with 5 cents ! and that’s 4 cents to much ! He is on the Karma train now interesting to see if he gets past the Seibold stop .. all aboard .

Cleary got Brooks to Dally M winner. He has been a shell of that form with Madge.

Wasn’t Payton with the same manager as the big 4? The theory being he was white anting the coach for the top job and manager was saying if he is head coach the big 4 will stay?

So yeah, if it turns out we could of kept them all together and had a decent coach without going through the Taylor/ Cleary saga... it probably would of been a lot easier to go with the managers demands

Thats a soul destroying thought of what could have been hah. Don't even say that ill cry lol.

That to me says more about the player than the coach ... maybe the player has an issue with instruction and the demands of bringing a game plan to fruition!

RTS, Nikorima, Tohu Harris, Hiku would all waltz into our starting side.

You're telling me you'd prefer ET and Eiso as bench props over Papali and Blair? Please.

Payten may be doing alright now, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him do an Ivan if the Roosters, Broncos or Storm come calling for a coach.

Totally agree, we are not a great side, but we are not performing to our ability either, it is embarrassing that the Warriors are ahead of us on the table. They have lived away from home for months, had players leave and go home, borrowed other teams cast off's to field a side, they beat us, if we played with their passion we would be in the 8, and that is a coach issue

Spot on peeps! Our side really isn’t as bad on paper as everyone makes out, especially if they all played to the level we know they’re capable of playing. It’s definitely a motivation issue and of the players not being coached to their strengths.

He got us to 9th. We’ll be lucky to finish 13th this year and this is more his team now than last year when we also finished 9th.

That's right, they're different rosters. So is Payten's. So comparing the two rosters and guessing how different coaches would go with them doesn't add up.

Unless that coach is Anthony Seibold. We all know what the result would be then.
