Tony Williams

Tony Williams could be as devastating player as Noel Cleal was.
Has the size, and the speed, for some reason lacks the impact.
Could it be, as a kid, that he was always told to be gentle and not hurt anyone, due to his size, and still has this mindset.
Such a wasted talent.

It's funny but when Williams was an EEl he was the rampaging bull of his day.
That's why the doggies signed him, and the eels lamented the loss of their major attacking force.
But that was then.
How things have changed.
So disappointing.

Wasn't it Manly?

It was Parra in 2008 then he went to Manly (2009-2012) then now to the doggies.

Yeh but from memory his best days were Manly.

Could play him in the 2nd row with Sironen. Would need to get the missing persons squad on Speed dial.

No way should we sign him .he was devastating as a winger when he debuted for parra ..he is just the player we do not need at any price ..he simply dosent have it in defence and is soft in attack

I played with 2 of Tony Williams' brothers about 5 years ago and exactly the same problem, devastating on their day but just went hiding all too often when they were needed.

Edit- sorry I've just been informed that 1 was his brother and the other was his cousin.

Not for me. Same category as Dave Taylor. Should be one of the best in the league, but unfortunately never will be.

Not for me, no doubt he has his good days but most of the time he goes missing. Think we have enough 1st grade imposters within our side.

Another PEE HEART there are a few already in the team at present no need for any additions..he could share Simonas locker..

He had 4 seasons at Manly after playing at parra before going to the dogs

T-Rex played 8 amazing weeks in the lead up to one of Manly's premierships, cant remember which one. In the process played himself from an outside back with potential that wasn't quite these, to devastating impact forward in the process, gained a test jersey and an enormous contract.

Has only shown glimpses since. Not for me.

Reminds me a bit of Richard Villisanti, played 10 weeks of cracking footy out of no where, got himself on to a roo tour (and forever infamy) and never played good footy again.

Big Tony Williams comes off contract after this season and is unlikely to be re-signed by Canterbury.

We were told Penrith may have been interested but there appears another possible suitor - Wests Tigers.

The Tigers have some money to spend and Williams - when focused and fit - can be destructive on the field.

Look Tony Willams has the 'potential' to be the most destructive forward in the NRL… but for some reason he hasn't done that for the dogs.... at Manly he was exactly the type of forward we need the bloke got called up for Origin...

If we are interested then we must not be talking big money knowing our problems.... Siro is on big money and I would rather have T Rex over Siro any day...

Willam's is a gamble but tbh a gamble worth taking the risk.... I'll take him only for a 2 year deal with the 2nd year in our favour for 250k a year

I know this might sound irrelevant but the Tigers name has come up a bit lately when it comes to player signings (is this salary cap situation a joke in disguise)

"The Tigers have some money to spend" I bloody hope so!

He's got " Potential", we should sign him.
Half a season of our astute coaching , and he'll be tearing up everyone we play…..........Sorry, .....I must have dozed off and was dreaming,
I thought we were talking about a big , fast aggressive , hard working forward

I think a change of scenery will bring the best of Williams…. he is a big and fast forward we just need him to fire up and work hard and be aggressive.

He doesn't shine as much at Dogs because there pack is the best in the comp... If he was to come to the Tigers I do believe he would relinquish the opportunity to be our best forward, and would stand out

Potential is not a word that you describe T. rex cause he had performed on a weekly basis he just needs consistency.

Tony Williams is a sleeping giant if he wakes up he can be the most destructive forward in the comp.

If a coach like Hasler is finding it hard to motivate T Rex then I imagine that JT will have next to no chance in bringing out the best in him. We all know what he is capable of but just like others before him like Dave Taylor he only delivers spasmodically. If and that is a big "IF" he can play to his potential consistently then I would sign him in a heartbeat but unfortunately I don't think he has it in him to do this as evidenced by his form over the last few seasons.

T-Rex may be going cheap, hence why we have money to spend.

But we already have a few bludgers in the team and couldn't get a guy like Adam Blair up to peak performances, I don't see us turning around with T-Rex.
