Toothless tigers

he was ordinary at warriors too
he played 2 good seasons at Parramatta that is it
JT, coz they worked out how to use him effectively. He needs the right positioning from his inside men. Currently not getting that.
And just to clarify, he’s out this week due to suspension.

Send Papalli back to the eels. If he's worth 650k, pigs fly.
That’s a very good point.
We’ve seen what Papali’i is capable of while at Eels. He was looking forward to playing under Maguire because he’s a hard worker, but we introduce him to Tigers DNA, firstly by sacking Maguire. We have nfi.
I think we have a team capable of pushing up the ladder and getting closer to the 8.
So what’s going wrong?

I know it's politically correct to bag Brooks. But at least his form is consistent. You know exactly what you are going to get out of him every week. For me the bigger concern are the wild swings of consistency you are seeing from Adam Doueihi. At times he plays like an out-and-out franchise talent. At others he looks like someone they pulled off the streets ten minutes before kickoff. Mediocre players are a problem. But that problem can be managed - or mitigated. Inconsistent players - particularly inconsistent star players get coaches sacked and teams sat at the foot of the table.

Spot on. It's the inconsistency that is the issue. It's not just across the season but within a game.

I think Brooks is inconsistent as well though. He is more consistent than Doueihi but that isn't saying much.

We need significantly better in the 1, 6 and 7.

What is wrong is Sheens and HIS belief that he is up to date with modern football. He is as stubborn as a mule but i hope he realises that he is a major part of the mess we are in.The team we have is far from great but it is more than capable of a position around the half way mark on the ladder. The "second coming of Sheens" is turning into a disaster.
I would love to know who the 17 coaches chairman Lee was bragging about who applied for the coaching job are who Sheens said were not good enough(i am sure we will never find out) because at the moment i would take any of the 17 instead of what we have now.
Hopefully Sheens takes some of the advice he would/should have been given and we win this week

We were all promised attacking football.

We made 2 line breaks against a team that was a player short for 25mins and had 3 key players off.

I thought we hit rock bottom last year but this game is a very new low.

We are formally 17th at the end of this round, we are in a worst position than last year.
I don't want all out attacking football.

It rarely wins.

Yeah. I mean, you can criticize the coach. But you live and die by the players you can field consistently. The spine is bad. But the roster aint much better.

Interestingly he moved out of standing behind Benji in the box and moved down to the sideline during the game. My opinion only - Benji's role what ever that is at the moment may be adjusted this week because Sheens is the one that is copping the heat.

I hope you are right because something needs to change and as quickly as possible. This rubbish should not be allowed to continue at the moment the "coaching" is making the team look worse than it is.

He is a key player in putting us in this mess, but he can also be part of the solution.
He needs to pull back on his fast track handover to Benji, it’s getting us nowhere. He gave him too much free reign, too soon. Don’t know how significant it is but I see him taking a seat beside Benji in the box, then in round 2, moving to the sideline late in the game. Is he seeing that he can’t do both jobs successfully? Is it coach Benji or coach the team?
Our halves are definitely getting mixed messages.

Whatever the plan is it is clearly not working. As bad as the club has been since the JV it has never looked as bad as it does now.Changes need to be made asap

Agree. Compare Sheens approach to Bennett’s?

Honestly as a club what do you even do?
We have the centre of excellence
Been thru 2 premiership winning coaches and somewhat decent coach in Ivan Cleary
We have signed premiership winning players
We’re focused on attacking football

But
We can’t score points
Can’t defend
Can’t complete sets
We suck worse than when we played “madge ball”

I’m baffled
Yep

I consider this coaching crap an EXPERIMENT where Benji,Farah are learning to become NRL level coaches,as I have said many times its the old boys club back together basking in the glory of 2005..
If this club was a professionally run outfit they would have told Sheens to get a qualified assistant coach and tell Benji and Farah to learn their coaching trade in Group six or somewhere else, not trying to learn at this level...As you can see it is embarrassing them and the club,no wonder the members and supporters have a sour taste in their mouth after 2 disgusting performances to start the season...
I hope that they do get it right and Im wrong and the team starts to play quality football and win games...but Sheens has covered his butt by saying Benji will be head coach in 2 years, most blokes only start to learn coaching in that time in much lower levels let alone top tier NRL...

How no one in management stopped the appointments I'll never know

100%.
This on the job training is hurting us.
Think of it in terms of an apprenticeship. The tradesman doesn’t stop what he is doing 5 times a day to make sure the 1st year fully understands the job. He works, the apprentice aids him and over time knowledge rubs off.
Sheens must remove Benji from the big chair during games.
