Top 33 Players

I'm guessing halatau hasn't been named do that if farah and Luani get injured, we can maybe get a second tier exemption to bring in cheerington or far low rather than halatau.

Thought Lawrence showed glimpses of his '10/'11 form towards the end of this season though still mixed it up with some of the rubbish we've come to expect from him in the past couple of seasons (his reads in defence were terrible) so rather indifferent about reading the OP.

Think he's seen better days and we should definitely go after a gun centre for 2015 (someone like a Wighton would be good though i think he's been made a priority re-signing by the Raiders).

Delouise Hoeter possible 10th man in the backs? Or maybe just a typo…

Just on another note, I can't believe Chrissy Lawrence is still so young, feels like he has been around for an age.

Man…. **that second row is just absolute rubbish**, and our props will be as well.

I dont care how many promising backs we have. Until this gets addressed, we will keep getting flogged and be the easybeats of the comp.

There's not one second rower / Lock, I'd willingly pick from that list given a choice, outside Curtis in a few years time and BMM IF he lived up to his potential.

Wests Tigers 2014 squad - Back row/Locks

The third release of the 2014 top 33-man squad features the back rowers and locks, with Wests Tigers coach Mick Potter giving an insight into the season ahead.

While Dene Halatau may be a recruit for the 2014 season, Wests Tigers fans will be very familiar with the utility returning to the Club after spending three seasons at the Canterbury Bulldogs. Halatau can play a number of positions and will be an asset not only on the field but also off it, as a mentor for the younger squad members.

The other addition to the back row roster is Cory Paterson, who comes to the Club after a one-year stint with Super League Club Hull KR. During his time at the Rovers, Paterson crossed the line seven times in 15 games. The former Cowboy and Knight is also a handy goal kicker.

The starting back row will have a number of contenders, provided the squad is fully fit. The reliable Liam Fulton will be in the mix once more – with youngsters Ben Murdoch-Masila, Curtis Sironen and Sauaso Sue fighting it out with Bodene Thompson for limited positions in the squad.

Mick Potters talks back row/locks for the 2014 season:

“We have brought in Dene Halatau and Cory Paterson who adds a fair bit of strike to us on the edges. We have also brought up young Kyle Lovett who adds strike and a good depth to the squad. We are looking pretty good in the back row; we’ve got the solidness of Liam Fulton and dynamic players such as Ben Murdoch-Masila and Curtis Sironen. Sauaso Sue can poke his nose in that group too," Potter said.

“For those that don’t know much about Andrew Vela, he is in a similar mould to Ben Murdoch-Masila. He is dynamic, runs a very good line and is hard to tackle. Unfortunately he has been hampered by injuries in the last couple of years and this is his year to step up and show what he has got. I’m looking forward to seeing him make an impact, he will start the year in State Cup and we will see how he progresses from there.”

Stay tuned for the final announcement which features the props in the 2014 squad.

I don't think our backrow is that poor to be honest. BMM started showing some decent form in the second hlf of the season with more gametime under his belt, and Sirro was making over 100 metres in attack with a dodgy groin in the last few games which we hadn't seen any backrowers do all year basically. I think Patterson will be handy along with Sue and I'm hoping Vela finally gets an injury free run to build some form up as he was an Australian Schoolboy rep a couple of years ago and very highly regarded.

Man the side is looking so much better than last year. They got rid of what they needed to and kept the good players.. the club is doing a good job.
