400k a year isn’t terrible for DWZ.

Not many would take a pay cut of 4-500k for a year

Given his age I would stay for a year earn 880k and get the 3-400k for the next 2-3yrs after as he will get that easily after next season anyway with expansion on the cards.

Also giving the Bulldogs 800k to play with next year or even half that would be massive boost for them.

Wont the dogs have to pay the balance of his contract after anything we give him?

yes -- DWZ has a contract and will get his money. he doesn't have to agree to a reduced salary. us and the dogs just need to agree to a split. H

Transfer Rules:

Rule # 1: Never buy Bulldogs rejects.
Rule # 2: If you forget the rule, or think something is tempting, refer to Rule # 1.

150k and we have a deal dogs

You should be working with Hartigan. 😁
Dogs sure do need to offload some wingers.

DWZ is Isaako with better hands, sub par fullback but decent winger. You wouldn't want him because he's from the dogs but I'd rather jag DWZ for 300k than Isaako from the just as bad broncs who would likely cost more.

All good champion @Leichardt99 - I see where you're coming from. I just have a dislike for the Bulldogs. I'm sure Hartigan will look after our interests.

300k would be a great deal for the club.

He’s not JAC but he’s a massive step up on Talau, Kepaoa on the wing.

Reimis Smith has suddenly discovered how to score tries after leaving the dogs, I think DWZ will do even better if he’s kept on the wing.

Seriously, $300k is chicken feed.

Covers wing, centre and fullback. Great for depth in positions we don’t have much depth in. Squad signing that will do a job when needed.

We are likely losing JL next year. DWZ offers more in the way of versatility for less than the average salary cap spot.

I thought the Dogs only want to pay $300K for this year & next & leaving us to foot the rest which is about $550,000 per year.

I would prefer Isaako @ $400 than Dal @ $300, but would be happier with both.

I don't think there's room for both with the deal Nofo's on. we can only have one. Isaako for me personally, but DWZ still has plenty left to offer at 25.

That’s how I read it too. Dogs overall contribution will be $300k per year.

The deal won’t happen in my view. Tigers want to pay 400k and also front load this year bringing an extended deal down to 350k p.a.
Dogs unlikely to pay as they have board elections next year and will look bad paying players to play elsewhere again.

Smart business by tigers walk away if the deal is not good.

Is that like the rule “you don’t talk about right club”?

That’s bad luck.☹️

Hey Lessons learned from Mbye:

Dont sign dogs Rejects.
But Mbye did go good. Honestly starting to think keep him at 5/8…I hate thinking that, but cant deny he is going well there.

Dont keep them on silly Salary:
So DWZ is at 850k. Dogs offload him at 850k, next year he becomes an 850k headache.

Mbye, if he was say 400k. I hate saying this, we would probably keep him.
DWZ is not the player we need. We need someone who will up our defense or up our team structure. DWZ does neither.
Honestly Shawn Johnson would be better and we send Jackson Hastings to the Dogs!
But if we did take him, can someone make it clear that they are then on 300k? Or is there a reason why that cannot work?

Hey CrazyCat

Agree with post except for ....
Honestly Shawn Johnson would be better and we send Jackson Hastings to the Dogs!

I'm looking forward to Hastings in 2022 behind a improving and tough Forward pack

“Bulldogs are willing to pay close to half, with the Wests Tigers considering paying the other half of (DWZ’s) salary next year, as well as part of his salary this year.

It averages out to be around $300,000 per year for the next two seasons if it goes through.”

If it happens, I reckon Nofo will leave, he won’t like reserve grade?😂😂😂

We'll be seeing quite a few stories like this in the coming years if Hartigan sticks around. The bloke likes a bargain and it's smart business to pursue contracts which are good value.
